I was just going to ask why not the RAV4 and CRV... Although IMO the 2010+ CRV's are made the same as the older ones (the first and second gen ones from about 98 to 2006). Those I feel were the good years for the CRV. I know a few people who have the newer CRvs and two of them sold them around 100k because they started experiencing problems, one was a transmission issue that even the dealer couldn't figure out).

When I was a kid, I was involved in a wreck where we tumbled 150 feet into a ravine in the San Bernardino county mountains and when it finally stopped, we were upside down. We got out through the windshield with nothing but a seatbelt rash - no cuts, bruises, or broken bones. Not even a trip to the hospital. Why? Because we were in a 3rd gen 4runner. I've wanted one of these ever since.

I walked away from an upright, running and fully drivable vehicle after it hit black ice on the interstate in Oregon. It had slid across 2 lanes into a concrete wall at about 55 mph, flipped onto its roof, slid all the way across 4 lanes, hit a concrete median , flipped onto the tires and came to a stop in the left shoulder in the condition I described. And, also facing the right way and with my cassette tape playing/. Why aren't I dead, you ask. Because: lap belt, in use + roll bar + the of bones of the bone-solid '77 FJ-40.

4 runner saved my life when I was 22. It was totaled and banged up to all hell, when people saw photos of the wreck no one could believe I had survived. Went over the guardrail and the 4 runner flipped more than 3 times before I blacked out from hitting my head during the 3rd roll down the embankment. I walked away with a fractured sacrum, fractured upper spine, reconstructive surgery on my face from the windshield glass cutting into my neck and chin, but I was alive! No way I would have survived that same wreck had I been in a cheaply made tin. This was a late 90's 4 runner.

I really like this video on comparing the different older suvs. Scotty you need to do more videos like this comparing different vehicles back to back. This makes a great video. Really gives me insight on Toyota versus american-made vehicles. I've had Chevy trucks a 2009 2500 Silverado had nothing but transmission problems and then I also got a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500 for personal use and then it also had a transmission problem. The 2011 after I got it had an issue but ever since then it hasn't had any problems and here we are in 2021 it only has 48,000 mi. But generally I have lost hope in American made trucks and I did have a 1991 Toyota 4Runner at one point and it was lifted and I guess it was a 3.0L 6 cylinder. With that v6 lifted and I was running 33 BF Goodrich mud terrains on there and pulling a 6x10 trailer with quads on it I had no problem getting up hills with that thing. it had a pretty slow take off when you going on to a freeway on ramp with a trailer fully loaded and the rear end fully loaded inside with with stuff but I never had any issues with that 4runner.. I think when I buy another truck I'm going to go back to buying a Toyota again. It's really nice to see that Toyota and Honda and Lexus and all these Japanese manufacturers have over the test of time proven that their vehicles are reliable just from this video. Good job Scotty for making this video very helpful. 👍

Been driving a 2015 Pilot for a little over six years now. Around 67k miles on it, and no issues so far. Not a very exciting ride, but carries all the people and stuff you need it to, comfortable for long trips, and the VTEC on the NA V6 sounds pretty nice when you put your foot down, not like the turbo 4s in all the new vehicles.

I had a 1993 Mazda extended cab B2200 that was made in Japan, and honestly, it was one of the best trucks I've ever owned. I had nearly 200.000 miles on it before the head warped due to overheating because the radiator went out on it. Since I couldn't afford to replace the head at the time, I ended up selling the truck for far less than I should have since it had been sitting for a while. The other thing I loved about that truck was the fact I could actually work on it without having to take it to a dealer for repairs, whether it was the brakes, the timing belt, spark plugs, and most everything else. The only thing I didn't do that I took it to the shop for was a new clutch. Other than that, it was a great and reliable truck. As for the Toyota's, they are built tough, especially the ones built in Japan. And they are made to last.

Pilots with Honda's Variable Torque Management 4WD system (VTM-4) sent most power to the front wheels under normal driving conditions. Under acceleration or if wheel slippage is detected at the front wheels, up to 50% of power can be sent to the rear wheels.

My 1991 Toyota Previa All Trac had 386,000 miles when I sold it in 2008 and it still ran and drove perfectly fine, still regret selling it ☹

I would still love to find a nice, used Previa. Hard to come by these days.

Snapped the timing belt in a 2005 Lexus RX330 (200K miles) , had it towed to my mechanic , $900 later : runs just like it did when I bought it,....... smooth. The only reason the belt needed replacement was because the previous owner had a NAPA substitute installed and it only lasted about 75K miles . These cars are serious value if bought at a reasonable price.

I absolutely LOVE mine. 2003 smaller v8 engine, 220k miles and runs so much smoother than my 2009 dodge journey with 150k miles 🤦‍♀️ getting rid of the dodge. Just bought and I swear it's junk. Owned 2 highlanders in the past 10 yrs that never gave me problems and safety features saved my life in both wrecks 🙏 these cars aren't cheap but WORTH THE PRICE!
