omg such high quality information! thanks Chi! We have so many options these days, The paradox of choice, that it is debilitating at times unless you know the right harmonious combinations and reasonings for putting things together. I always had hats in my closet but never had the time to figure out what outfits they went with! I got tired of trying things together after 10 years of inharmonious outfits and never getting the right tone, silhouette, colors, proportions, romantic/edgy/other themes quite correctly in one outfit. This is so helpful!

Yes, ditto, please. My head is really small and round, and my face is small, too. Maybe that’s why I don’t love sock hats, they emphasize my pea-head! 🙂

I have several berets and wear them most days regardless of what else I am wearing 🤔. Usually dictated by colour, I also have a few baker boy hats; you call it a newsboy hat; I am in the UK. It has become my sort of signature to almost always have a hat on. Black sequin beret is my current fav due to the season. Even dressed down with jeans and a knit 😆

THANK YOU CHI! Here in Toronto, hats are de riguer in the winter months. (I also wear brimmed hats in the summer to keep the sun on my face.) I have a HUGE collection but, sometimes, I can't make them work with whatever outfit. So this video was a great, and original idea, and I am grateful for it. Now comes the request: Part two!!! Fedoras. Softer knit/crochet berets and newsboy hats. Western/cowboy hats. PLEASE!

I must say you are so entertaining! As a petite woman, I love your expertise in fashion and I'm definitely subscribed and following your tips! I'll check out your clothing line as well! Thank you for outlining the details needed for dressing well as a petite woman.

I find with the wide brim hat the material it's made out of determines how you style it. The height of the crown makes a big difference if it will suit you or not. For myself, a "Gambler" lower brim in winter white wool can be styled with just about anything. Florida = wide brim straw hats, good quality, nice band and lower crown........I'm 72 and I love hats!

This is the best advise ever , I love hats and never know which one looks best , you are so amazing , thank you so much for all your advise .

I’m winter I love the bucket hat, but I have a hard time finding one. In summer I love to wear the wide rim hat. Those I have plenty of. 😁👒

I cannot thank you enough for this video this is exactly what I needed. Before my mother passed away at 88, she said that she had wished that she wore more hats when she was younger.

I always wore my black or ivory wool berets for my winter walk/bus/walk commutes. But then came the Monica Lewinsky scandal and I just couldn’t wear them anymore, I got too many negative comments. People seemed to forget that I had always worn them and started asking me “who are you trying to seduce, Monica”? Finally, that seems to be forgotten, so I can wear them again, I thought they looked better with my professional coats than sock hats. But now, I’m retired, so I don’t get very dressy. I think I would wear a wool fedora now instead, with a brim to shade my eyes, the very low-angle sun can be a problem outdoors, even with sunglasses on. I’ve never been a style-hat person, I only wear them when I must, for warmth or shade, but I do want to choose the most flattering option, of course. Thanks for covering this, Chi.

4:02 ok, as a hairdresser, how do I wear my newsboy cap to work? I try for fashionable but not cheap.

You are a genius. So now I know a) Beretslook good on me because I wear a lot of romantic styles and b) I probably never suited those wide brimhats when i tried them in stores because I was dressed too casually/ not wearing a coat. (I find them tricky on me.)

I think newsboy caps are best on a gamine / petite woman. I know they aren’t for me even though I wear a lot of hats for sun or cold protection up here in Canada.

I wear hats frequently. But I have to admit this is one tip that I don’t take too seriously. If I put a hat on my head, look in a full length mirror and feel confident, I’m good to go. I often get compliments on my hats. I’m only barely 5 feet tall. Thank you for all your wonderful videos. They are very helpful and much appreciated.

If it's not winter time, you çan always go for some white shirt and pair it with skinny jeans and finish it off with some white sneakers or shoes of your choice. Jackets you can wear wit these are denim jackets, semi-formal coats that are either long or waist-high ones. 😊

One commentator asks for you to style masculine clothes for women, I say, please don’t! I love your style just as it is. I do like a military-style jacket, or something like that, once in a while, the structure can enhance the feminine shape, but I usually make the rest of the outfit a little more feminine.

You can always try different hats until you find the perfect one that best compliments you 😊

I never liked those newsboy hats. The generation before me, who were young adults in the 70s, wore them for many decades after they were out of style. I still see older ladies in their 70s and 80s wearing the very same ones they wore as teenagers, so I came to associate that style with old ladies, not young ones. One male professor of this same generation always wore his 70s leather hippie vest to class, it just make him look out-of-touch. He was very vain (men are often more vain than women) because it still fit him at age 65 or so. I believe in keeping and wearing classics forever, but not trendy items like these hats and hippie vests. But, if you’re young, enjoy newsboy caps, if you love them.
