The pacifist: Wants to build an empire but has no interest in wars. Wins by space race or culture. Looks down upon players who fight early wars because to him it is some form of cheating.

The Eleanor: wants to steal every city through loyalty, even capitals. The world will turn pink through the power of art and Cthulhu

The super wide guy (me). Settles like 50 cities, and most of them are completely pointless, for the sole purpose of making their color bigger on the map.

Actually in theory the more cities you have the more you dominate the world and the Richer your civilization will become also if you have it your enemy doesn't period even if the city is on useless land your enemy doesn't have it

I do this. It usually starts as “I need these resources.” But then it’s “I’ll need the space so I can build X” then it’s “I’ll settle here so the AI won’t surround me. And by the end of it I have 20+ cities.

Bigger color or higher # means I'm doing right thing. Brain release feel good juice.

The “For Fun” player: - Almost always picks Settler (chieftain if they want a challenge) - Turns off all victory types and turn limit - Mostly plays on TSL maps, where they pick all the other civs - Abandons the game around Industrial Era 9 times out of 10 because they thought of a scenario that sounded cooler

@@TheTriple2000 That’s why I like the TSL maps. I’m currently conquering the world as Australia because my home is untouchable. I now own over half the African continent as well and am pushing north towards Rome and Saudi Arabia 😂 I’ll never play with an Indonesian AI and luckily China and Japan aren’t interested in the islands between us.

These aren't just 'types of players'... they're phases every player goes through :) Very recognizable. I've been nearly all of these!

usually when someone steals my wonder, i just declare a war and conquer them so that i get the wonder.

I feel called out. I'm all of these to a less dramatic extent. But yeah, I have used pins before settling my first city.

I do the same thing I'll start a game start dominating then I save the game turn off my computer then later I come back and instead of going to my previous save I just start the game all over again

@@Nitrile7 still trying to figure out the PS4 version of civilization 6 don't know how to dominate in the game even though I'm playing it on the easiest setting so I can learn when I feel confident I'll start playing it on deity mode

The "pacifistic make the best of it" player. Never restarts and tries to build the best civ possible no matter the obstacles. Also does it without ever declaring war or engaging in wars of expansion even when war is declared upon self. Pretty much sums up my approach.

Yup. I currently have over 50 hours in the game, not a single minute was spent on war.

The trade maximizer and the "game is ruined" one come closest to me. For the most part I would say I'm The Roleplayer: Doesn't particularly care about being the most efficient at all times, occasionally chooses social policies simply for what they represent and mostly tries to act as if actually governing the country and playing according to it.

The speedrunner: tries to win as fast as possible. The guy who downloads 12 and a half mods just to play the game. The guy who decides that the 1 era behind mod from inquisitive otter isnt hard enough so goes for a 1 city challenge

you forgot the “environmentalist”, tries the best to have 0 carbon emissions the whole game (even when playing bc science or domination)

What about the Desperate Winner? -Picks a civ for a specific win -Ends up not setting everything up properly for their victory type and by the time they're in Industrial they just give up. -Somehow manages to advance either Science or get enough Diplomatic Vic points to go for one of those vics -Ends up winning either a Diplo or Sci victory because they didn't bother to go after Religious or Cultural

The total warmonger: mains only Alexander, is a complete nerd about combat mechanics The IDGAF: activates great artist/writers/musicians with no consideration for theming

Captures every city of the AI but one that is now surrounded by your circle of cities so it can’t re settle or escape....after every AI is “captured” quits the game.

That moment when you're an over planner and you research a new strategic resource

The "Over It" usually happens about half to two thirds of the way through, they start not caring whatever they click, just to end the game. They say "I don't care" a whole lot.

Legend says that player is still restarting.

you really can't be #1 without also being #2. sometimes i have a whole set of pins out before i settle my city then i change my mind and redo the pins all over again

If I get a single mountain, I settle one tile away from it so I can surround it by three cities, build three aqueducts and 3 industrial zones perfectly surrounding the mountain.

Colonizer (me) Start of the game: Picks Chieftain or Warlord difficulty and always one of the largest maps! Blocking my rivals by settling near them and having land for myself or declaring war in early game with a plan of taking the capital with a single warrior, always disappointed, 'cuz city is protected (but still have hope). Only when I discover right techs sailling to other islands/continents and settling tons of settlements and then falling in debt. High chance of quitting in late game, because of boredom. Sometimes with horrible pain gaining their "colonies" independence. (possible in civ4) I haven't played much civ6 yet, but I've already picked Chieftain there 2 times. PS. Ended the game one time (civ4) - without any war by Japanese (lmao) and 36/37 cities - cultural win Oh, and One-City-Challenger (my dad) Settling one city and growing it into metropolis (he likes that style of playing - i hate it).

#2, definitely. My maps are carpet bombed with pins. Gotta maximize my adjacencies!

I'm most definitely the min max trader. I always try to get the highest amount possible from the ai and am always looking for opportunities to do what I call "bankrolling" them, where I sell each ai diplo favor and strategics in return for all of their gold per turn. If you're not playing a domination game and have a decent amount of strategics, you can easily bankroll the ai by turn 130-150 on deity, usually earlier, which basically guarantees that you win a game barring some unforeseen circumstances. Plus money is nice.

The spanish: Centers on making catholicism be everywere on the game and if neded he will start enourmous wars for it

multiplayer has a lot more of types... most common: the quitter (because war was declared on him, or he´s "behind" or "attacked by barbs" or did not read the settings and recognizes his stupidity^^ etc pp)

I feel so-called out by "Perfectionist" I have been SO guilty that I haven't ACTUALLY completed a game. I lose my nerve and quit even if I'm certain a more competent player would be like "This is salvageable."

Im a heavy religion/ diplomacy player. Use all the amenity and housings boosts with faith.Get Himiko and sinbad,sinbar will rush you threw sci/civ by discovering everything first. Then use himiko to get as many city states as possible. Everyone will love you beside Alexander or Elizabeth and even if a war happens you will have so many allies they'll never even make it to your border.

That was very funny and hit a little too close to home!

Plot twist: All of these apply to all Civ players.

I like to play civs who need a very specific set of terrain and sometimes lots of breathtaking tiles or lots of luxuries or lots desert ect. So I will restart until I find the best start for that civ. I spent nearly 5 hours just restarting over and over again trying to find a start with a long expansive river basin with tons of luxuries and flood plains for my Catherine magnificence game

The number 2 did nothing wrong, that is totally acceptable and should actually be a MUST, or you won't be playing against immortal/deity level.

A restarter for sure. Mostly because the game spawns me in a place where half of the nearest tiles are empty deserts.

I'm a combination of the first three, on console, on epic game speed, with fast movement and combat disabled, with a little bit of perfectionist. It takes me months to finish a game.

you forgot the specific production people i.e. people who focus on maxing just one stat like i pretty much try to get as much production and science as possible.

Oh man! I am nearly all of them :D And it made me realize how triggering is my playing for someone who watches it :( :D Also, I wanna add the Inconsistent type: Mostly play at moderate levels Picks Gilgamesh or Korea to achieve Science victory Occasionally build wonders that he likes, so he starts to go through culture Gets a silly named religion at the beginning (by the mid game, buys apostles and send them to convert cities) As he get bored of converting the same city for the 5th time, stops gathering apostles. Takes the nearest capital somewhere around industrial era (just because to try the unique unit has unlocked) And finally, changes government and policy cards so frequently

I am the restarter and overplanner for SURE but whenever I put pins there’s always that one strategic resource I uncover that just ruins EVERYTHING

I could never understand how to get better at civilization 6 all the other games I can do just fine but in Civilization 6 it's a struggle because now you have to wait on your cities and you can't even make wonders unless you have a place you can place them that is stupid
