This is probably the most thorough and useful toss/serve video I have ever watched. Thanks to Kevin. Great job!

Personally, I started playing tennis since around July last year. I used to play sometimes years and years ago and I developed my own style without any coaching. I had a few lessons in July last year but it is so hard to get out of my bad technique's habits. I mean, to understand where I was: I did not know that there are different grips, that bad I was. I am usually a quick learner but learning the serve and even something as simple as tossing the ball it is ridiculously hard for me as I formed a bad habit of tossing the ball from before... Luckily enough, people like you are taking the time and teaching the proper way of doing tennis stuff...Thank you, Excellent video!

Great video. Thanks Kevin. Unfortunately, don't see coaches in local clubs break it down and teach fundamentals this way. So important to develop these skills early in one's tennis career.

Especially like the “2 to 1” drill. Going to work that in my next practice. Lots of important points covered on this crucial aspect of the serve. 👍

Ahhhh! 10:36 is me!!! When I started playing again a few years ago, my toss was terrible and I chased it. Even with a way better toss now, I’m still always fighting that crazy right foot movement I unintentionally ingrained! Thanks for your videos! So helpful!

Without tossing the ball I can create a fluid and almost professional looking serve motion( coil, align shoulders arm at 45° angle, pronation ). Then, if I only toss the ball I can make it land within a foot square consistently. But if I do both, then it all becomes a mess and yes, when training my serve alone with no pressure I do ocasionally get a propper serve. But is very inconsistent and on matches , it becomes catastrophic.

Very nice. Love all these tips to enhance toss control. If the serve is the key to most players’ games, the toss is the key to a good serve. By the way, I always thought that the very word “toss” implies in the mind a difficulty in control. I’ve heard alternate descriptions such as: “place” the ball into your serve swing or even just “give yourself” the ball. Thanks again for the video!

Hi good video. As there is spin on every serve and also on the so called flat serv, I prefer to say a 1. and a 2. serv to escape from the misconception about the flat serv. Sampras had 2600 rpm on his 1 serv, and a test has shown average about 1200 rpm among pros 1. serv. You say flat serv, that why this note

Thanks a lot for the video. I don't understand one point: if I let the ball drop (for the flat & slice serve), where should the ball land ? Right on the left foot ? In front of left foot ? If in front, how far in front ? I know this is not exact math but just to have a rough idea when practicing the toss

Very good content but way too much for a single video, Kevin. The toss could serve as an entire video alone. Also, your rapid fire voice delivery is a bit disconcerting. It could be that you are speaking so quickly because you've got a ton of content and don't want to create a 30 minute monster video. Breaking up the topic is the way to go IMHO.
