The simplest way to avoid replacing the rear hatch handle is to keep the latch mechanism well lubricated. You can access it via the bottom of the hatch. Do it twice a year and the handle actuation feels smooth as glass.

Also don't raise the hatch by the handle. Best to pop the hatch open and lift from the bottom

I just bypassed that rear handle. I attached a firm wire to the mechanism at the bottom of the door. Just pull it to the left, it opens. Best thing I ever did. Reply if you want me tell you in detail

2001 sr5...My Vtrac/VCS lights and brake light come on for no reason depending on if I hit a bump or if it's cold. DTE is spot on and I've never had any fuel gage issues. My metal handle is amazing. Otherwise never a single issue!

Lots of good info thanks. There’s a new way of not having to deal with the rear door latch. A bit of fabrication to the actual latch to open from the bottom of the rear gate. You should look into it.

04 Squoia SR5 2wd. 191,000 miles. Original owner. -ebrake light comes on whenever it feels like it, usually when the weather is over 80f, after 10-15 minutes of driving. sometimes disappears for months. started over 100k. -the gas door fix will be needed every few years. easy fix -replaces the antenna with a fixed flexible rubber antenna from ebay without removing anything from under the fender. -21.3mpg on highway driving 65-70mph. -around 10mpg in the city, stop and go traffic. A gallon of gas is around $6 here in Los Angeles ...

My brake light started coming on periodically after 70,000 miles..you are right...just turn car off and start up again and it's gone. Also the ticking sound from the split in manifold is common. Welding it costs about $40 ,vs. Replacement.

If you don't want to cut the mirror wires on your malfunctioning mirrors, you can just replace your switches with salvage yard switch from a model that doesn't have the folding mirror icon. It's worlds cheaper than a new replacement and you won't have to rewire anything or explain anything to a buyer.

Hi brother. When you have engine light comes on and say it’s oxygen sensor and after replaced all four sensors, now it say catalytic p0420 / p0430. But catalytic is fine. Could it be air leaks somewhere in the engine or do we have to replaced catalytic converters. Do you know anything about this issues.

For me, sometimes when there is a huge temperature swing or elevation swing, my ECU cannot keep up with the proper fuel/air ratio, and it'll throw that code. Once cleared it stays off until it goes through the same type of shock. Hopefully you are having the same issue.

Regarding the rear door latch, I had broken two plastic and bent one metal one to the point it would not work. Solution for me was: 1- replace the cable with a new well lubricated bicycle cable. Mine was overly loose from being stretched. Plus I added a second cable for interior access. 2 - remove the bottom latch mechanism and rebuild it, removing the semi rubberized coating on the inner mechanism. This was a bit of a process but doable. I also replaced the latch pins with bolts so I can open it via a wrench should the latch get stuck. 3- replace the outer latch boot with black gurilla tape. Main culprits for the failures were dust/grit build up in the latch mechanism. The tape makes for a nice dust boot, that remains water tight. 4- lubricate the latch mechanism twice per year. Other main issue has been around my love hate relationship with the rear air suspension. My 2007 model is great for towing when the it is working. I have also do e several mods to it, and I may do a video on them later this spring when I upgrade / re uild the rest of the suspension. It is not going to be as flexible as extended coils are, but it offers a lot more than most give it credit for.
