    I'm learning so much about ponds. Just dug a 30'x24' pond in my backyard. I'm excited to raise my own water lilies. Getting started on it while the pond is in progress. I learned so much from you. It's appreciated!

    Beautiful water features. Aquascapes should make end caps to attach the the ends of the cuts on the lips of the bowls. It would make them look thick and finished.

    I agree! Even just a touch up on the black paint where they cut the slits would of been nice! Everything looks amazing and well thought out. But leaving the exposed cut outs worn-out & white looks like an eye sore. 😣

    Wow! You build beautiful ponds!! Enjoyed your videos. We have a large Oase Biotech Screenmatic2 filter that's just sitting at one end of the water fall with the plastic top unsightly exposed The top of the cover is flushed with the top of the spill way...not sunken the making hiding it challenging. We live in KANSAS where the winter is harsh. What do you suggest we can use to conceal the ugly plastic cover measuring about 2'++ by 3'++...any plants (stone?) that will do the job YEAR-ROUND without leaving the area exposed in the winter AND also can be easily removed so we can get to the cover for regular clearing? Any advice is much appreciated. challenging.

    Can the lilly stay in the pot full time or does it get root bound? Thanks for video

  • @prefersoxygen9373

    @prefersoxygen9373

    4 жыл бұрын

    In my experience with my own pond, they will get root bound. But don't worry, remove it and just drop it in. Unless you have fish that eat them. When I used to separate and replant my lilies, I would put the tube in a 5 gallon bucket with a clay type of soil and cover with some rocks being mindful of any growth. I put the bucket in the pond with a rope and leave it usually for the entire season. Next season I grab the rope ,pull it up , remove the entire root bound plant and drop it in my pond. A free growing lily will have bigger pads and more flowers. Again, just a guy with a big pond and not a professional 😁

    Agreed. I have put water lilies in my pond ( I could barely lift them) with deep gravel topping and tied in mesh over the top. Within days the Koi had tipped them over, got in and eaten the lot. I was hoping for some tips from this video, but no luck.

    DISEASE TRANSMISSION RISK ?? What would happen if the fish in the first pond, where the lilly was growing, had symptoms of disease or were carriers of disease? If that were the case then the water lilly, the soil it's rooting in and it's container might harbour lots of different nasty pathogens. If any snails or snail eggs were on the lilly could they act as vectors? What's the best method by which a pond-fish owner might ensure newly introduced ornamental water plants don't introduce inadvertent death to expensive pet fishes?

  • @CapeFearKoi

    Those pebbles looked too small with those size fish. Stones need to be at least 2” so the fish don’t spit the rocks on the floor. I line my pots with 4-5” river stone and I find that’s a good size that keeps them from spitting them out of the pot and aesthetically pleasing.

    The problem we had with lilies is that they drawn snakes. The snakes kill or eat our fish. Therefore , we have given up on lilies. We have ferns on the rocks going almost in to the pond. The ferns provide needed shade. We have to be careful not to attract snakes or alligators/
