These tips and techniques for painting fur in watercolor will really help you bring a realistic feel to your work. See the overall look of your fur go from flat and lifeless to soft and fluffy with these 5 simple to remember techniques.
I love teaching others how to create realistic animals in watercolor. I enjoy breaking down and thinking about the actual techniques and what I am actually doing.     Thank you very much Mandar. Ooh, a Lion, now that's an excellent challenge for you. Why not test out on some scrap watercolour paper using some fine lined masking fluid to reserve some hairs. You can even add the masking fluid over the top of paint as well, but remember to test any ideas out first. Paul 🎨

    Hi! I'm in the middle of painting a mother grizzly doing a little fishing to feed her cubs in the background. I'm trying to keep the bears from clashing into the forest background. I'm very new to watercolors after doing acrylics for many years.

    Hello merci beaucoup pour votre réponse aussi rapide....Ok pour le pinceau et finalement c est ce qu'on invente qui va le mieux.... Je vais aller voir votre vidéo et comme vous j adore la faune et la flore...Je pratique l acrylique et l huile,un peu de pastel, mais je n ai pas encore peint à l aquarelle et ce que vous faites est très beau et surtout très réaliste c est superbe j adore.....Merci encore Marie

    Maire, vous êtes les bienvenus. N'oubliez pas de faire de petits pas lors de l'apprentissage de l'aquarelle, de tester diverses méthodes et de connaître à la fois les peintures et la quantité d'eau à y ajouter. Et surtout, amusez-vous! Paul

    Bonsoir Je suis fascinée par votre peinture qui est splendide.!!! Votre méthode semble très intéressante mais hélas je ne parle pas votre langue alors je vous regarde....Pourriez vous me dire quel est ce pinceau que vous utilisez pour faire le pelage de cet ourson?     Salut Marie, merci beaucoup pour vos aimables paroles, comme vous pouvez le voir j'adore peindre la faune à l'aquarelle. J'utilise Google Traduction pour saisir cette réponse. Le pinceau que j'utilise pour peindre plusieurs lignes à la fois est fabriqué par moi-même. Tout ce que j'ai utilisé, c'est une très vieille brosse, qui était prête à aller à la poubelle. Voici un lien vers une vidéo sur ici comment j'utilise et fait ce petit pinceau basique, d'aspect rugueux mais à effet. Je lui ai donné un nom et il s’appelle maintenant un réplicateur.     Age shouldn't be a barrier Gayle. I have a list of all the materials I use on my website if it helps. As you have found out, you don't need a lot of equipment, but good reliable (not too expensive) brushes are a must.     Hi Heather, sadly I don't know the stockists where you are. If you have a look at my product's page, it will give you some ideas on the items you need to search for over cross the water there. devonartist.co.uk/materials-i-use-or-recommend-for-realistic-watercolour/ I'm guessing the Winsor & Newton size 00 brushes should at least be available where you are.     As a guess I would say four layers, starting with a background wash, then light, mid and dark layer tones for the details. Time wise, hard to say, but I would place it around the 15 hours mark. 😊

    @@EKS49 No, that's for the whole painting. Many of my more complex paintings take 15-20 hours on average, after all, we should never rush a painting. 😃

    Hi Tanja, the brush size is a size 00 which I prefer to use. Here is an affiliate link for you for the brand of brush i use for my detail work. bit.ly/2KiM1Gj If you go to the bottom of the list you will find the size 00, for some reason they seem to start at 0 at the top which is perculiar!     Yes it is, this is one I may have bought around 25+ years ago. I think it is a Daler Rowney Spectrum, difficult to say really as the writing has worn off it now. 🤓
