My PS3's HDMI port isn't working. I used to alternate the same HDMI cable for my console and my STB. Wish I knew this beforehand :-(

I have a PS4. First, the seller told me not to remove disc once I am done playing. I am still following what he told. Second, he told me to for proper air ventilation. For this, I keep two stacks of books side by side with a wide gap between the two. Then I keep the PS4 on the two stacks of books, with left side of the PS4 staying on the left stack of the books and the right side of the PS4 staying on right stack of the books. Thus, there is a gap between the table and the PS4 bottom surface. Also, I keep at least one and a half feet distance from the wall. Third, after done playing I remove all appliances, take it inside my bedroom and cool the appliance by turning on the AC. After 15 minutes, I switch off the AC but keeps the PS4 under ceiling fan for at least one hour before finally wrapping it up with plastic sheet and keeping it inside the cabinet. I play once in 15-20 days or even one month.

I have a ps4 standard No heating issues. Never shut down due to heating. I use 4 stands on each end of my ps4 so it stays above ground. And I never unplugged it. So I don't recommend you too. But if you want to keep it in bag so ensure you took wire from TV side and keep ps4 side attached after letting it cool for 10min. Yes you can play while charging and I always play with dual shock 4 connected to ps4. Hope it helps.
