It's The Yukon, officially! The Yukon government made it official in 2021. Great video. I love it when people learn how incredible The Yukon is but I wish it would remain Canada's best kept secret. One of the most magical things about living in The Yukon is that we can experience all the beauty without running in to crowds. :)

It’s “The Yukon”. Born and raised here. They tried to change it legally through the local government, but there was a lot of local distaste for it just being “Yukon” with out “The”. It was legally changed back a couple of years ago to “The Yukon” but there are still people who think it should have stayed as is. Historically though, it has been “The Yukon” for much longer. It had a brief period minus “The” but if you just look at time it was legally one name versus the other. Anyways, it is “The Yukon”

I remember not learning much about the Territories in elementary school. For the longest time, I thought that Great Slave and Great Bear Lakes were in northern Alberta. Since the fires that prompted the evacuation of Yellowknife, I became interested in Canada's territories and have a trip to NWT next July. I am also planning a similar trip to the Yukon.

You aren't wrong about our education system teaching us little about the Territories. I always imagined Yellowknife to be this desolate remote outpost in inhospitable terrain with a lack of roads. I was surprised to learn that not only is it a city, but that it's located on Great Slave Lake. As a kid I thought Great Slave and Great Bear lakes were in northern Alberta and Saskatchewan. Anyway, I'm visiting Yellowknife in 4 weeks and plan do visit Yukon next year.

Having lived in whithorse I remember the dairy queen was a walk in restaurant. Was surprised for being up there. I remember seeing a full sized grizzly sunbathing on the alaskan highway that ran through the yukon. It's called The Yukon by the way. Most beautiful place I've ever seen! Fun fact it's expensive to ship grass for front lawns their so they have 3\4 inch gravel for lawns. I thought that was strange.

Went to the Yukon just a few weeks ago. Only stayed long enough to eat, but that allowed me to cross it off the list. Newfoundland will finish off the Provinces for me. Still need the other 2 territories. Going to Hawaii next summer to get my last State.

I've been living in Yellowknife for about nine years. I've traveled and worked all over NT, NU and YK. I'm just finishing college this year, and hoping to relocate to the Yukon. It's hands-down absolutely amazing. Spent three weeks in Haines Junction this summer when we evacuated due to wildfires. Left a piece of myself there, it feels like. Housing market in Whitehorse is better then Yellowknife.
