I did my undergrad in ME and I've appeared for the GRE(322 overall with 167Q, 155V and 4.0AWA scores), for IELTS(7overall) and am applying to universities but the pre-requisites are basically killing my chances of an admit. I want to get into the MIS course but even that has pre-requisites. Thanks for such great advice, much appreciated man! these so called pre-requirsites are needed when you directly apply for computer science masters, but although and hopefully there are computer science conversion courses, which require some computing knowledge or no computing knowledge, starting from universities like imperial college and so on.

hey, i am in this situation. i have received a conditional admit, i will need to take Data Structures and Discrete mathematics in my first term and receive a B. in this case how is the course structure. Will i be able to do the prerequisit courses parallelly with my masters course? how this will affect my duration of the program?

Nope. MOOCs are always just online courses. Unless there's an exam conducted by any university, it doesn't count.

Probably not. Your best bet is to apply to the programs that accept non-CS students.

You will probably not be eligible unless you have the prerequisite courses discussed in the video (algorithms, data structures, etc.).

I have a similar profile. You should look at MCIT at UPenn. It does not have any prerequisites and earlier alumni were from fields like history, literature, philosophy, finance, business, statistics etc

Edx's Microbachelors programs may be a viable alternative but they add a level of complexity. It's difficult to predict whether all universities will accept these courses as enough to fulfill their prerequisites. I recommend that you email 2-3 universities and find the general opinion. If they say yes, before you apply to any college outside these 2-3, ensure you email those as well to double-check. Now, for individual courses, I believe you can contact De Anza and Foothill and they will explain their procedure to enroll in just a few courses.

I am searching same thing . Apparently its easy to switch to CS in pakistan. You'll have to take some deficiency courses. But if you do same abroad then it'll require more amount/budget.

For MCIT, you don't even have to be an ECE student so you'll definitely be eligible. I just checked UChicago and it looks similar to MCIT so I'll add it to the list. I'm skeptical about adding DePaul since it doesn't feature in the top university rankings.
