Funny you mention the steering lock. In the UK it's a requirement that you use the steering lock in order for your theft insurance to be valid, however it's widely known that you can break a steering lock by applying some torque to the handlebars, easily done by a single would-be thief. Somewhat of a farce really! I just consider the steering lock to be one level of security - I leave my bike parked in-gear, with the steering lock and also a disc lock, so at least if someone wants to steal it they have to know what they're doing and have some tools. Not impenetrable defences but at least my bike is a less appealing option than a totally unlocked bike next to it!

Yeah, you can definitely break them with enough force. Some older bikes had real locks that would break the bars off first!! Seems if a criminal wants something bad enough nothing will stop them. neat features. everything like that all those extra little details Honda puts into this bike just makes it more lovable. My last bike, DRZ400s, more or less had these same features, in slightly different form factors. But the way each manufacturer does their own really makes them unique to the brand and special in their own way. and just makes it neat and convenient

I'm not real sure about that to be honest. I dropped one tooth on my front sproket for tight woods riding. So far it's been plenty low for everything we've ridden. And, it didn't hurt the top speed much either.

Such cool little tidbits this bike has to offer amongst everything else.

Okay now this looks like way too much fun!! I need to learn about trail riding

Hey Tom! Thanks for watching man! I got this particular side mount from beezdealz.com in Thailand. Quick shipping and decent price. I will say if you live or ride on super rocky, rough trails like the Colorado rockies etc, the spot this rack mounts can break from work hardening. Most folks weld on a short piece of angle in the place of the stock mounting brackets. You'll need the rotopax mount system as well. It's the part that comes through the Jerry can handle and locks it in place. Most places that sell the rotopax sell the mount with it. I got mine from chapmoto.com on clearance. Another nice alternative is Giant Loop's Armadillo 2gal fuel bag.

Another tip, this bike will run without the battery installed.

Thought about buying one of these but it would only be useful in town and the farm roads nearby. The remainder of the roads, town to town, and into the major city are all 55-65mph. In the big city, I see people riding low displacement motorbikes all the time.

Always alternate routes most of the time! But for sure, it's no fun getting blown around all day!

I was looking at getting a Super-Cub because I liked that the wheels were non wire spokes. But I don't like the smart key it uses or the lack of a kickstarter. This looks like a more down to earth sensible machine.

Hey Chris, not that it matters, but I think there are 4 of those M6 holes in the rack. I mounted my box just like yours. Did that exhaust increase your power any? And, do you worry any about running a hot bike into a cold creek? I been wondering about that. Thanks, EE

You may be correct on that. The exhaust definitely helped the midrange on the bike an absolute ton!! Riding into a cold creek with the engine running won't hurt it in my opinion. I've never seen an engine I've taken apart that's been ran in creeks while at operating temperature have any visible or measurable damage.

From my experience with these engine over the last 30 years, you should be able to hold it at wide open throttle for 12k miles or more. No worries there, hard to hurt these little horizontal engines honda builds

If running a lot of full throttle or near full throttle , Use full synthetic 10w40 , to increase that upper oil temp range. I would not use a conventional oil with these high heat air cooled engines, they run pretty hot at 220-260*F

Not too bad to me personally. Stock dirtbike seats really bother me after 50 miles or so. I've done a 200mi day on this Stock seat with minimal pain.

I would say they are both very capable bikes of doing really close to the same things. The TW will definitely have an advantage in super rocky, uneven rough terrain due to it's big tires. I would attempt to ride both before making the purchase if possible. The TW will be a bit faster on the road as well but will handle very differently due to the wide tire on the back.

No, not at all. As long as the engine is running, it retains the heat enough to prevent damage. These bikes are designed to cross water nearly up to the bottom of the seat.

This is a very nice bike but still not available in my country. (germany) I dont no why.I'd like to do a trip through the states on this bike but I think it is not to be rent for a german guy. Best wishes from Germanay

The one thing I know about it is that it's not available in Canada, which is a huge mistake on Honda's part.

@@PSBEadventures bummer thats the one thing that made them better my dads didnt have the selctor so he put on a big rear sprocket to make it trail worthy my 90 had the selector as did another 110 - I wouldnt get one without it as it is just a road bike without the selector to go from road to trail. thats a bummer as its just intermediate so not good for road or trail without the HI/LO selector

Would you recommend this bike for someone is going to be doing 99% of their riding in town, on payment?

Sure, low speed riding in town, especially with the factory tires that come on these will be where it shines as well. Also 120-130mpg will be nice!

@@PSBEadventures Hardest part is finding one under $5000, I like the idea of if I need to go offroading I can. Once you leave city limits all the roads are sand, and even one of the highways here is a sand road

@@Rancher1911 do it for sure, thats how i run mine, it is my daily, 95% pavement. One thing you could do, is add a 143 bore up kit. A few mods later and my trail does 70mph GPS and I still get 90mpg.

Have gotten a best of 137mpg, I gave 3899 plus 150 freight for mine. So a little over 4 grand by the time I got the plates for it.

if the tyres are tubeless then it will be the ultimate motocycle.

I just can't believe that buying this bike in Germany would cost me at least 7k. Import cost plus tax... can't wait to move out of this shithole and actually enjoy some freedom of choice.
