4 surprised me. I knew there were a lot of ultra shortcuts but I didn't realise that over HALF of the courses had them. Crazy stuff.

Hopefully peaty piranha and hammer bro get put into the future dlc for MK8DX

Mario kart Wii’s fan base is so strong. I’m glad old games like this don’t become irrelevant. Mario kart wii online isn’t empty like most other games that are console exclusive.

CTGP in particular isn't the only way to play it! It runs off of a service called Wiimmfi, CTGP is the most popular way to play though. CTGP doesn't work on Dolphin (well, it does now. But, it's still very slow I believe?), but, for vanilla MKW and other distributions, you can!* * you'll need a Wii BIOS backup from your own Wii. Sadly can't pirate that cus all the certificates will be banned lmao

I knew about all of them, also fun fact, not only Petey Piranha and Hammer Bro were scrapped, Para-Troopa was scrapped as well

@idkwhattowritehere… You're right, Kamek was scrapped for both Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart 8, while E.Gadd was scrapped for Mario Kart DS. If you’re still interested, you should check out @Tricky Nick. His content is pretty good and he talks a lot about the characters and courses that were cut.

im pretty sure luigi circuit also has an ultra shortcut using the shooting star, however the setup takes quite a while so its only used for flap

Petey Piranha and Hammer Bro were later added in Mario Kart Tour. And they might even come to MK8D in the future waves of the Booster Course Pass!

I recently just got Mario Kart Wii back because my old disc is scratched. After weeks of reminiscing, and listening to its music, and a lot of memes, I finally got my precious baby back. It’s like it never left.

Petey piranha is my all time fav Mario character, i wish he was at least in 8 deluxe

by far the most fun mario kart i've played, having to unlock characters and tracks was so much fun for me, felt so rewarding

That grumble volcano shortcut was so smooth.

Paratroopa was also one of these almost made characters

Dude the Wii community never died 😂

Fun vid, but don’t forget the tas ultras on Luigi circuit, Bowser Castle Wii, GCN Mario, and discovered today Yoshi Falls.

The fact that 2 of my favorite characters got cut from this game…

There are the fast lap ultra shortcuts. Like Luigi's circuit. There is also one that works for both flap and regular races in shy guy beach.

For like 10 years I just thought I was dog at the game for not being able to dodge the pow often enough, knowing it was only ever a 1 frame window was relieving

You forgot about Mii Outfit C and Paratroopa in the cut character section. Mii Outfit C's slot can be used via cheat codes and you can add character mods to the slot to create your own version of Mii Outfit C.

The pow block thing being 1 frame memes me think it isn't intended behavior, but i swear that's just common knowledge and a known mechanic

Also don't forget that arcade gp had both scrapped characters

This short outside of the cut characters are the reasons why Wii is the best in the series.

For hopping over it on flat ground, yes. For dodging it normally it's not a 1-frame window

Literally everyone know the glitches that can make you avoid doing 3 entire laps

I time my hops since you don’t slow down at all because if you slow down, It will be too inconsistent to time your hop for a low trick. The last one is done on dolphin emulator to my knowledge since the console version it’s only online normal ctgp.

I love low tricking so much, just don't do it early in BC3 lol

He got the pow dodge wrong if I'm not mistaken. I think the only requirement was being airborne which changes that one frame to a tenth of a second which is a massive difference.

1 frame windows are a heck of a lot easier if the game runs at 30 fps

Or you can use Wimmifi to connect without using CTGP-R.

You do not keep your item with that method, that’s why hop dodging is super valuable

More details about the *three* scrapped characters of Mario Kart Wii: - Hammer Bro was intended to be in the game, with his icon (tt_hammer_64x64.tpl) hidden in the UI elements. - Koopa Paratroopa was also there (tt_pata_64x64.tpl), but his face looks... wildly cursed, due to his head's size being abnormally huge and his whole body can be seen below, unlike the rest where they're portraits. - Petey Piranha (tt_boss_packun_64x64.tpl) is also a playable character. The icon's texture looks pretty similar to the one in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. None of the characters' 3D models have ever been found, even the textures.

Oh my God I did not know that you can still play the game. When I was 12 years old I had a ghost of DK summit that lasted about 2 days until it got replaced. I'm definitely going to drive again
