More than likely a confidence thing mate. He hasn't been in just best firm fir a while so playing within himself and trying to keep it simple. Also gets alot of unnecessary shite with the fanbase jumping on every little thing, hopefully we can keep this form and build on it so we can see the players express themselves a bit more.

We need to play quicker and move cohesively along with some good shooting. Long way to go for CFC. One goal on a lucky bounce from open play is our only open-play goal in how long?

Good to see Kai , Keppa and Cucarella stuff the criticism back down our throats. Feared Potter would be stubborn and refuse to resort to pragmatism, but he got there eventually and I still want him to get that preseason.

This game showed why Havertz is generational. Big game player with ice in his veins. And still only 23 years old.

NiNi I need these videos to be a regular thing. I don’t always agree with you, but I RESPECT you because I think you are the most analytical of the CFC KZreadrs. I’m just proud of the lads, seeing them step up makes me think we can at least form a solid platform to build on next season.

I think 9 out of 10 Chelsea fans recognise what a silky quality potentially top 5 player in the World Kai Havertz is!! That is why Potter persisted with him. Kai can fire 🔥 us to 🏆 League win!!

The analysis of Kepa was spot on but I would also add that his development and improvement goes to his new goalkeeping coach hired by the new owners. Let's hope our form and confidence continue to get better where we play our best football until the end of the season.

I no we ran a 3-4-3 but it didn’t feel like it. I didn’t see the same side ways passing n back passing like we use to do. The ball was moving progressively forward, passes over the top. The press ti was on point we were first to alit of balls. They didnt play like a TT team they played like a Potter 3-4-3.

Kepa was very impressive. Cucurella was solid. Koulibaly was solid. Fofana did his job well. Both Wingbacks did their thing. Kovatic was good all round. Enzo broke the play up well. Felix did his thing but fizzled out after the knee slip. Sterling was rather bad apart from the goal. (My opinion he’s to indecisive) Havertz was a beast in his CORRECT position. I still think potter needs to work on his subs although i do get why he chose to make the defensive subs he made but it did invite pressure. I would rather mudryk come on instead of pulusic but I just wanna see mudryk do well.

So it's clear. Kai came to CFC to play UCL football only. It's ok: he produces when we need him to produce in the UCL or any worldwide competitions.

As I saw it, Havertz was playing for the first time as a false 9. He was asked to block balls to Can and follow him once the ball had past their defence line. He had licence to roam centrally and on the right in possession. Sterling was asked to play on the high right central position. Making angled runs. Asked not to go too far back (be the furthest forward in defence) as he would be key to the counter for quick release passes. He was asked to play wide on the left CB shoulder not allowing the CB’s to commit to Havertz. I.e. rather than the middle box consisting of Kova, Enzo, Felix and Sterling. Havertz would swap with Sterling from a more central position. The position that Sterling played was more like Pedro back in the Barca days freeing up Messi who could drop in to create a box midfield and run at players. Pedro had the responsibility to stretch the CB from wide right.

If anyone on the team has stepped up this year, it is Kepa. His game and maturity have really improved. It took time, but I think kepa will come true.

Kepa's ball distribution is very underrated as well because his play out of the back play 9 times out of 10 finds his man

Koulibaly is a beast , kovacic top player, haverst if he play free is a good player, chili good player. If my Blues play like yesterday we could win the CL. Come Blues 💙💙💙

I did notice that Koulibaly has performed much better with Silva out of the team, I just wasn’t able to see the tactical change that helped facilitate the difference. I just assumed that it was a case of Koulibaly being more accustomed to being the main man in a back line. What you said made sense though, I feel like he’s much less comfortable defending out wide.

@@rkl9583 Yeah you’re right, I’m not discounting that. There are probably multiple factors. I just think with his experience people were expecting him to adjust quicker than he has. When we look at how Badiashille has adapted it really makes Koulibaly’s performances stand out. However, Badiashille is a giant and the French league, although not the best, is much more physical than people give it credit for. So that might be the difference between the two.

I learned Kai is devastating when facing goal, not with his back turned to it as a striker

Koulibaly does well playing in a back three. In Napoli he was a monster playing there

“Goodbye Silva” He loves this club, and just signed an extension. 😂😂.

Cucurella on his current "hair on fire" form may make the very expensive Gvardiol purchase unnecessary, imo

Cucurella was amazing is good when it comes to do or die matches which ar at a high pace, we can win it guys we have a very strong squared believe wn kante is firing all cylinders we have an opportunity of grabbing it

Kai is a different animal in the UCL especially when played deeper where he has the space to be more proactive on the ball A double 10 of Kai x Felix could be our bail out offensively then we stick up either Mudryk or Sterling as the furthest forward because of their pace and all. I've said it that one of the reasons Cucu hasn't been doing well is cos he's expected to play like Chilwell which isn't his natural style which is why he's struggled Your highlight on Kepa improving on his flaws is spot on. Bro that’s not what he’s saying. He’s saying that Koulibaly has played better with Silva out of the team because he’s allowed to play in the centre and cover the right and left CBs as opposed to having to defend out wide, which is clearly a weakness of his.

What we see is an admission that Tuchel set up and pattern was genius. As someone who loved to cuss Tuchel formation you should eat humble pie, cause this is what saved our champions league season as well as against Leeds.

Koulibally and James are 1 yellow card away from being suspended 1 game I think, if so they need to be careful in the ucl

I was the biggest Kepa out person which was 100 percent warranted. He was the worst(!) senior goalkeeper in the league for an entire season ( don't argue with me on this bc I've looked at too many data and eye test. He was worse than you think). His improvement is the biggest I've ever seen in football. It's been a while now so I'm calling it a permanent improvement and not a purple patch.

I think you also have to keep in mind that we knew Adeyemi was going to be out - they don't have nearly as much speed threat without him so our defensive line could push up more. That and the different tactical formation. You can't really compare the two games and say it was due to Silva not playing

I like your presentations and point of view. My only disappointment is that Mudryk didn't get on the field on Tuesday. I would have preferred him to get chance rather than Pulisic, and join the upbeat feel of the play. It might have helped him too.

I don't like your inference about Kepa. Look PSxG/SoT. That means he is averagish considering the shots he has actually faced on target. His higher PSxG-GA indicates that the opponent hasn't placed his shots on target from promising positions and Kepa has been lucky in that regard.

It was a good game no doubt and boy we needed that win...I needed that chelsea win. But seriously lets wait for few more games and performances like this to really start dreaming about what these players can do. Is this a one off or a genuine change in form. I dont want to get my hopes too high yet. Why has it taken Potter this long to unlock a game performance like tue? Long term am not convinced he is the guy but time will tell.

How can Kepa be underrated when he’s (justifiably) the reason we’re holding our breath. He needs to keep playing well and earn our confidence back so far so good but we’re looking for consistency. He was consistently bad for a while so it takes time.

Kepa reminds me of Cudicini. Not the tallest. a great shot stopper but struggles on cross. Kai TBH just frustrates the hell out of me. A bit like mounts performance this season.

After almost 30 games potter finally gets tactics right in one game. Smdh. Mediocre at best. A competent coach will see his players strengths and mold the team accordingly to maximize it. He has been unable to do that

Many CFC fans make excuses for their favourite players until they have a few decent games then label them world-class ,while they don't have the same energy for other players in the squad. Guy even missed the pen ffs. Still glad that he was fortunate enough to get to retake it and score .

You also have to take into consideration that, the back three was not really being pressured so we had more time on the ball.

Qualifying for CL next season is a pipe dream, honestly, and that's okay. We have a great squad without more signings and more time for the squad to gel with a focus on the league is a necessary step for the rebuild we're going through. We know what happened last time we failed to qualify in 2017. Haven't been thrilled with Potter, but we should give him the rest of the season to see how he turns it around. 💙

The amount of times he ran out to head the ball was ridiculous! Any long ball played koulibaly was there to eat it up

How good was Dortmund when we played them? To be honest, not so good, they did not offer so much going forward. I will wait till we play the Madrid, Man city, Napoli or any other technically sound team before getting overly excited. Definitely we will get them right now and we can come back to assess our development as a team. Anyway, I understand the reason for your excitement; we have not won many games in the last 20 appearances. In reality we shouldn’t read too much to us beating Dortmund.

A simple tactical tweak to play a 3412 unlocked Kai.

First one here again

I don't agree with Kai Havertz playing at the wings and Sterling playing up front. The right is best suited for Mykhylo and Sterling and all Kai does playing in that position deprives the wingers of their natural positions and costs the team successfull attacks and goalscoring opportunities. Kai should play either behind the striker as an 8 a 10 or not at all. Again I don't particularly care about his off the ball contributions. He should focus on attacking and creating chances and not defending. Koulibali needed time to blend into the EPL. Let's see how he does in the next game. Kepa has improved so that's good. The jury is still out on Potter for me. I honestly don't think he has what it takes and this "comeback" temporarily papers the cracks on his tactical ability but let's see.

I swear Sterling signed for us expecting to play up front. I could be wrong but I think I saw those reports. I’ve been hoping that he would play in the middle for a while now to be honest. I feel like he’s lost a bit of his ability to beat his man consistently playing out wide, however, we know he can get a goal if he’s constantly finding himself in the box. It also allows Havertz to play a more free-roaming role. Besides, if we’re going to be playing a back three for the majority of games then the wide players are probably going to be playing as wide 10s as opposed to wingers. The wingbacks will be the ones providing the width. Edit: I just checked and he definitely signed to play up front based on where he played in his first games for us. He played his first 8 games for us as a CF (9 games in total, making it his most frequently played position for us). I think he was moved out wide out of necessity, because of injuries.

It’s not goodbye Thiago Silva, he’s still much better than Koulibaly but Koulibaly should be his backup at centre centre back of the 3
