While the weather doesn't allow matches this time of year up north, it isn't time to sit on the couch. At least, not for elite competitors. Here are 5 things I'm working on this winter.

I'm lucky enough to live down south on the gulf coast. My lawnmower doesn't even get much of a break.

This time of year is why Costco sells foot warmers. Also it’s a great time of year if you want the range to yourself. I shoot at the same range you do and the 600 yard line is gloriously empty all the darn time this time of year. Shooting suppressed is really only fun when you’re on your own, and don’t have to wear ear pro. Side note, only buy the toe warmers as they’re the only ones with adhesive backing and stay where you put them.

It makes me wonder why there is no competition shot in this weather. Always thought that the idea behind sports like PRS was to challenge the shooter with various positions, so it makes little sense to me to eliminate conditions they will be seeing for almost half of every year. I keep a 100 yard lane open all winter, usually have to lay down on a piece of carpeting on the frozen ground. Sure it can be cold and snow can make all of your pretty equipment rust, but what's the point of practicing for only fair weather when we live in a climate that only has that for half a year?

If you workout and it includes running or walking try adding distance whilst holding a bar above your head start small of course but it really will help with prone shooting. I’m up to 1/4 mile holding a 70lb bar above my head arms fully extended.

I shoot indoor smallbore in the winter to sharpen my skills. My true passion is NRA High Power (Service Rifle), so smallbore translates well due to the significance of NPA and stable position requirements. I also do brass sorting/prep and loading…

Dear.....(couldn't find your name anywhere), I really enjoy your videos! A question: I´v noticed your stock goes approximately. 1 " back whilst shooting shot by shot very uniformly. This runs under " driving your gun" and is very important. Seemingly you don't press your stock hard into your shoulder. Can you eventually give any advise how to get to the necessary uniformity from shot to shot?

Winter is trying to even find components to reload with and making up grades on my reloading equipment as I can afford to do it. Wisconsin is not the best for outdoor shooting in winter.

I am 72 and my goal in dry fire is to be able to keep a quarter balanced on the barrel just behind the break while dry firing. I need to be a bit more still just using a rear bag and bipod....

Ive noticed that the majority is well set folks... not sure if its because if you have thousands to spend on the sport you are definitely eating well.. you sure don't see any skinny underweight fellas on the shooting line and if you do they are the exception.

There are some of us that seriously just don’t burn out in this sport. For 16 yrs I’ve been shooting between 10-12K rounds per year. I never get tired of it. Unlike the presenter I love the range in winter, no one else is there.

Aside from diet and exercise he left out caffeine. Since I started carrying about sub MOA I haven’t touched caffeine (14 yrs ish). Also asparagus, eat as much as you can/like. It has a compound in it that help clear plaque and fatty build up in your circulatory system.
