I was fortunate that in my first two weeks of transitioning to a ketogenic diet that someone suggested that I look at this as a lifestyle change and not just losing weight. I chose keto because I discovered I had insulin resistance(pre- diabetes). I had stalled after losing 45lbs on a Standard American Diet plan. I ate the same caloric content but gradually lowered the carbs and increased the healthy fats. I put my diabetes in remission and shed another 100lbs and have kept it off for over three years. Family friends, doctors, etc... all predicted I would gain it all back because "KETO is not sustainable". I figured out a way for me. Eat food I enjoy to satiety. Over 4.5 + years One day at a Time (TODAY).

I can’t believe that on such a positive platform you’ve created that people are pointing out things like your hair or who speaks more…it’s absurd to me that people are contributing to insecurities. At the end of the day, people who feel the need to tell you about imperfections just have a plethora of their own insecurities they are trying to project. You girls rock. Don’t forget how many of us look up to you 🥰💕

I have been on Keto for the last 3 1/2 years, lost 109 pounds, reversed my diabetes. (Diabetes free for the past 2 1/2 years). My A1C is now 4.9 😀 The diabetes was the reason why I started this way of living. This is a lifestyle and your points where dead on. I “stalled “ for over 6 months. Tweaked my carb count and lost the rest of the fat that I wanted. I have maintained now for the past year. Love your videos

I began doing keto approx 3 months ago. My fasting bs is 250 some mornings. It is the liver dumping lots of glucose at dawn, even with so few carbs. I am 28 lbs down. Trying for 150/160. I'm 70 years old. Feeling a bit weak. Ticked that sugar levels are still wonky. How long did it take for diabeties to go away? I am trying to avoid total neuropathy. I think the burning feet inspired me to stay keto more then how I look in clothes. I am not discouraged, just confused

I really enjoy living a keto lifestyle and feel that I could eat like this for the rest of my life. I have lost over 100 pounds on keto and have been maintaining for the past 6 months...maintaining is definitely a challenge...once you reach your weight goal you have a tendency to become more lax and I have to struggle with this every single day. Thank you. I was always a pudgy kid that grew into an obese adult. In the last twelve years, I lost a significant amount of weight and kept it off but I was still in the 'overweight' category with my BMI. I was diagnosed with diabetes 3 months ago so I knew I needed to change my way of eating and have adopted a low carb/keto lifestyle. You two have made a huge difference to my mindset regarding making the change. Your point about eating for entertainment instead of for fuel really resonated with me personally. I always thought I was an emotional eater but never put together my need for food to be exciting and entertaining until now. When I'd go out for dinner in the past, I put more emphasis on the food providing a level of excitement as opposed to the company and experience. I was always indecisive about where and what to eat because I wanted to experience the excitement of something new and different and not eat the same 'boring' thing again. The same for cooking at home. You really did make me examine my relationship with food with your point so thank you again. I'm now 12 kg down and have put my diabetes into remission in only 3 months of adopting this lifestyle. My hba1c was ridiculously high on diagnosis so to get to this point in 3 months really says a lot about how beneficial low carb is for health.

Love this video! Love the honesty, the lack of pretense that you two bring to the space. Been keto since 2016, and one of the BIGGEST lessons for me has been learning about my relationship with food. I know that my carbs are creeping up when I start getting obsessed with cooking, with recipes, with watching cooking shows, etc. Maybe it's my personal craziness, but carbs definitely have an effect on my brain and thinking. When I'm strict, I barely think about food. I hope at some point, you might do a show about sauces - it's what makes meat sing (for me) especially fish and chicken. Thanks!

My relationship with food was terrible so it was a daily effort to stay on keto long term, which is why I just went to ketovore. I eat mainly meat and throw in low carb veggies when I have the desire. Doing less, being boring with meals, and just over all worrying less about my next meal is what actually helped me.

This was great. Thank you. It’s so true. Everything you said. One “telling “ thought I’ve had in the past, after I lost weight then regained it was, “I wish I had been happy NOT hitting my goal weight “. Meaning I did not get to my goal, I was at my lowest weight of my adult weight and was actually happily living life, but regained and realized that non-goal weight was perfectly fine.

I love all the points you talked about. I have had a similar Keto journey and found that as long as I focus on my original reasons for starting Keto... which are health reasons... then I do fine. As soon as I focus on beauty, I fail... pride comes before a fall. Also, you are correct about looking older when I get too thin. I am 65 and if I am on the higher end of my normal weight range, I look better. As long as my blood sugar and blood pressure stays normal, I am happy.

I agree with you ! Maintenance is almost harder than getting the weight off! I’m 65 years old and I have dieted most of my life and every time I lose weight I put it back on + more. And the harder it is to get it off as you get older! I have lost just under 20 pounds since May and it has been the hardest time I’ve ever had! Hopefully I will be able to maintain my weight loss this time without falling off the wagon again.

I have never been actually thin. I have been overweight to obese from the age of 7 or 8. I’ve never felt comfortable when asked what my goal weight is because I’ve never been at a “normal” weight. But once when I was in my thirties, I saw a photo of myself at age 21 and was shocked at how thin I looked. I literally said, “When was I ever that thin?” I distinctly remember feeling fat when that photo was taken. So what Emily says about that truly resonates.

I started keto about 2 years ago, I was 212 diagnosed with type II diabetes, high blood pressure and of course high cholesterol since now we know cholesterol is not a big factor. I now hover at 180, and my goal weight was 175. Now 'they' have determined that my weight should be 145 to 165, at which point I would be very skinny. Being a type II diabetic I will have to be keto for 98% of my life if I want to live a long and happy one. It's good you two started early to stave off metabolic syndrome, I did Atkins in the 90's but the scare of 'damaging one's kidneys' scared me off it, but I did do it occasionally just to drop off some weight. Now, it's been proven eating mostly fatty meat DOES NOT hurt ones kidneys at ALL, I am comfortable with keto. If anyone is a diabetic of any kind going keto is the only healthy path to take. If one loves their carbs and can't do keto, then prepare for a shortened, painful life. Thanks keto twins.

It took quite a while for me to fix my mindset- falling off the wagon used to be a week long binge, now, after a few years of doing mostly clean keto, I have better control and realize that one slip, doesn’t have to mean throwing the whole thing down the drain...I occasionally eat some junk, but have been able to hop right back on the wagon...lost 70 lbs overall and am maintaining...

I think it's so crucial to remind yourself why...on those days where it's boring it's a good reminder why. For your kids, so you can have a fulfilling life, so you can be around for your loved ones. We ve become as a society obsessed with making ourselves happy. Sometimes we aren't doing to be satisfied, and that's ok. It's ok to make decisions because you know it's right for you to be healthy.

There is nothing wrong with your hairline and the two of you are adorable. I was nodding my head through the entire video. I once lost ONE pound in a month...just one. But I got curious and grabbed my tape measure. I had lost 10.5 inches over my entire body. I like to tell people that losing "keto pounds" is different than "low fat" pounds. It's like you're finally giving your body the building blocks it needs and so it's rearranging things. Lots of work going on in there. Also, just to prove that keto loss is much different than low-fat loss, I am 5'3" and weighed 150 pounds...I wore a size 6 and was almost into a 4. And then I failed at Keto...but now I'm back and it's a definite lifestyle and I will do this for the rest of my life. I feel much better. Sorry to be so long-winded, but it's just something I believe in and it encourages so many to know that the scale just can't understand us.

I watch a lot of informational keto videos (I'm pretty new to it) and yours are the only ones that don't make me feel like I'm never going to get this right. I know, for me, that crazy strict keto is not going to work because I will eventually get discouraged and give up. I'm not in a hurry to lose weight, even 5 or 10 pounds a month is fine with me. You guys give me encouragement when I need it.

Another thing that I would add to that list is how to deal or prepare with the anxiety that it comes when your buddy request carbs or sweets. In my experience it took me time to manage that and understand what is behind the anxiety and be compassionate with myself and in that way is more sustainable to keep going after a bad eating day.

I just found your channel and love how real you both are. I've lost 71 pounds eating low-carb and love it. It's the only way of eating that kills my sweet tooth and hunger. One question I cringe at being asked about my weight loss is, "How long did it take you to lose the weight?" Like you two, I've been on and off low-carb diets since I was very young. I don't have a start date. I do well for a while, stress comes in and I gain some or all of it back and then hop back on and lose that and more, maintain for a while, etc... I know they want to hear, "Oh, I melted it all off in just 7 months!" But weight loss is not linear and it's so hard to make people get that. Anyway, you two have a new subscriber!

Thank you. I recently started keto but I went in with a mindset of " no extremes." Cause I know that bread happens. Its inevitable. I had a slice of bread the first week. And I didn't feel bad or quit. I just got back to the focus of better health and energy. Because I have lost and gained the same 50 lbs for years. I will not be weighing myself, because at this point its not important. Thanks again. P.s. you both have gorgeous hair

OMG! WHO DOES THAT??!! Who says ugly stuff to you girls??!! Lemme at em!! LOL! Just like when my twins were little, the momma bear in me kicks in when I hear stuff like that! You’re right, it IS the internet in general, people (thankfully not all people!) can be so thoughtless and sometimes intentionally cruel, but it truly IS their own insecurities glaring through! Well thankfully you two have walked right past all that and will continue to. I appreciate your honesty about this lifestyle so much. I have been on keto for a few months now and I have to say it has NOT been the raging success I wanted it to be early on. I am trying to figure out why and especially bc my S-I-L went on it with me and he has lost a good amount. But of course he is 35 years younger than I am and has no physical challenges of which I have many! In three months I have only lost 20 and he has lost nearly double that. And we eat almost exactly the same things (which I suppose y’all would label “relaxed” keto-under 20 net carbs)!!! But I think like you have said before, everyone is different and has different reactions (now I can see that blatantly), i need to be a little more strict with the total carbs (and somewhat) calories whereas he can be a little more relaxed with his. This IS my lifestyle now and I am committed to maintaining it. I have to. My physical challenges seemed almost insurmountable, but I KNOW being on this has helped give me the courage and stamina to make the 3-state journey to see my grandson after his surgery, something I haven’t done since I had my wreck 30 months ago! But as y’all said, it has to be something that is going to be sustainable, and “strict” keto is NOT going to be sustainable for me, so slow it is I guess. I have shunned the wheats and sugars almost completely in the last 3 months and will continue to strive for that. I try to fill myself with mainly meat eggs and cheese as well as the allowed veggies, with only occasional “allowed” desserts (which I was totally overdoing at the beginning) so hopefully that will keep me in that weight loss mode, even if it IS slow as molasses in January! Thank you ladies for being a huge part of keeping me motivated!!

Now maintaining 203-198. I'm happy with that too. Feel good at 68, can get on the floor with granddaughters. Climb stairs without puffing. I'm thankful to you Both Sarah and Emily. Thank you so much for this video. I have been doing keto faithfully for the past 5 months. Looking at the scale is honestly the most depressing thing I can do. I had an eating disorder in my teens and now losing weight is next to impossible for me. The thought of what I "should" weigh seems like such a lofty goal at this point. I really appreciate you putting this video out. I haven't "weighed in" for months, but clothes fit better (or don't fit at all any more!) so I know something is working. My goal is 100 lbs loss, that will take me from 268 to 168. At 5'2 I know 168 will still be to much for my height. I am so far at a 47 lb loss since May. I plan to meet with my health care provider when I make it to the 100 lbs loss and discuss what would be a reasonable maintainable weight for me and my health. When I started this journey I started with a mind set of life style change not diet. I knew I had to find an easy healthy way of eating and a easy flexible way to add exercise into my life. At this point I can easily see myself continuing on this way for life. It took me many, many years, diets, exercise plans, and to many failures to count to know what does not work for me. It took me a while but I finally found what works for me. I appreciate all you ladies share with us. I have taken much inspiration from you two.

Happy birthday, ladies! Thank you for another fantastic video! It's difficult enough to crack the keto code to achieve optimum weight loss without other KZread channels telling you that you're ketoing wrong. (You know you're in trouble when the keto stall is as well known as the keto diet itself.) I love your reasonable, realistic approach. A million years ago when I was young, I did the Adkins diet. It wasn't sustainable for me then. What makes the keto lifestyle sustainable now is you. You and other KZreadrs bravely share your stories to let us know that we can do this; you discover recipes and products to help us stay on the keto plan; and you push through the social media noise to offer insights into what really matters. Thank you so very much! P.S. It's lovely when Charlie, Ollie and Henri make an appearance!
