5 things I hate about my Ducati Monster Plus

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Ducati Monster Plus, or Ducati Monster 937 depending on who you ask, is a great motorcycle. It's red, it's fast, it's lightweight, it has a little of a sci-fi look to it but it's far from perfect. As with every motorcycle, because the perfect motorcycle does not exist. In this video, I will be sharing my top 5 on things I hate about my Ducati Monster Plus.

I've had my monster+ for 2 years now. I agree with you about the engine temp issue but have not suffered any of your other issues. My indicators self cancel before I have time to manually do it most times. Finish is superb. Fuel gauge counts down fairly accurately though I fuel mine mostly on mileage as have had issues with other bikes fuel gauges. Wind is always gonna be an issue on a naked bike. I replaced the useless mirrors with bar end mirrors and they work fine. I have never seen corrosion on the brake discs but do clean the bike after most days out on it. And have rarely used the bike in the wet. Changing settings requires throttle to be at idle so I rarely do that on the move but its easy to do at red lights etc. I had the 1200s monster before and was worried about only having 111 bhp as opposed to 150 bhp on the 1200 but the power to weight is about right. I replaced the exhaust with an SC Projects twin carbon slip on and it sounds really good. All in all very happy with the bike.

Owning a Ducati - there are things that are the nature of the beast and you expect them. But none of the issues mentioned are really of any concern. That being said - a better fuel gauge would be great so you don’t get stranded. The pluses of the bike make the complaints quite insignificant.

I also own a 937 plus and agree ith your comments- in addition I would say that the fueling is very snatchy and bumpy at low RPM and the hydraulic clutch lacks the feel I am used to with a cable clutch- the combination of these factors makes the bike unhappy to ride around the city.

Those are great points brother. I recently saw someone explain in a Monster 937 facebook group that he had a software update done that made the machine more smooth in the lower RPM range? I did not know it was a thing but might be interesting to look into.

I got this bike with only 5000 miles on it and I’ve had nothing but issues. Bike kept mysteriously dying while riding so I changed the entire charging system stator and voltage regulator and a brand new battery and still giving me issues. There are no loose wires I tore the bike apart and tested the old stator and regulator and they tested fine. Nothing but electrical problems I’ve had. The stock primary header all the welds blew out couldn’t handle a simple muffler delete I’m assuming

I bought my Monster brand new in april and I have ridden it for 16.000 km's since. Had no technical issues yet, no rust, havent needed to change my chain set, although that will have to be done pretty soon. It gets hot in stop-and-go traffic but it's not something that gets in my way. The fuel indicator is indeed faulty when it's low on fuel, which gave me some anxiety while traveling through Norway when making great distances. It's only my second motorcycle I have owned but it has been nothing but fun each and every ride.

I think it’s an absolute shame that Ducati hasn’t put out a “big boy” Monster to replace the 1200. They could easily/at least give us a Monster with the 155hp Superquadro 955cc from the Panigale V2… of course I’d rather see them put the 1260cc from the Diavel tho (and it can NEVER be a V4). Either way, they need to bring us a big boy Monster with 150ish+ hp and a single sided swingarm. Until then I’ll be eyeing the Monster 1200 S as my next bike. It’ll be my third Ducati.
