Counting calories doesn't work as all calories are not the same. You can read the calorie myth by Dr Johnathan Baylor for scientific explanation of why. But a good example is carbs versus meat If you eat 300 calories of bread you end up getting about 280 calories by the time your body breaks down the nutrition. If you eat 300 calories of meat you only get about 110 calories by the time your body is done breaking it down. If you remember chemistry class every time energy changes form you lose some energy. Bread is already basically glucose and the body only needs one step to make it usable. However for the body to make meat usable it is about five steps and it burns up a lot more energy. So if you go on the carb-free diet it's almost impossible to overeat because you end up getting only about a third of what you really take in. So if you were eating 2,000 calories of meat per day versus 2,000 calories of ice cream per day you will get drastically different results from the same amount of calories. Also, your body readily stores fat when your blood sugar is high but doesn't store fat when your blood sugar is low. So simply being on a low-carb diet ensures that you will never have the blood sugar necessary to store new fat. Add to that the fact that when you eat meat you only end up getting about a third of the calories.. you see why the carb-free diet is so good for losing weight. I lost 85 lb or 6 Stone or 38.5 kg I don't exactly know which units you use

I love you both and your channels. Americans do fly our flag and are very proud of it, our country and of being American. This story is just one person's interpretation of why: In September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a History teacher at RobinsonHigh School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks in her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks. 'Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?' She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.' They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.' 'No,' she said. 'Maybe it's our behavior.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.' And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom. Kids called their parents to tell them what was happening and by early afternoon television news crews had started gathering at the school to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room. The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the desk-less classroom. Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he or she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.' At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it. Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniform, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned. Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. They went halfway around the world, giving up their education and interrupting their careers and families so you could have the freedom you have. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.' By the way, this is a true story. And this teacher was awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars Teacher of the Year for the State of Arkansas in 2006. She is the daughter of a WWII POW. Do you think this email is worth passing along so others won't forget either, that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by our U.S. Veterans?... I did. Let us always remember the men and women of our military and the rights they have won for us.

Brutal honesty; this stereotype does hold true to a certain extent for we Americans. In fact my dream job is in Japan. In Japan, companies higher for what is literally deemed the "loud American" position. The only purpose of this position is for the American to represent the body of workers when they need somebody to tell off the upper level management. Americans are hired and paid to do one thing, go to the boss and tell them "Your idea is stupid, it's going to ruin the company, knock it off." I'd love to have this job.

Suing: the thing is, in the US, literally anybody can be sued for any reason. That doesn't mean their case will be upheld, or won't be immediately tossed, but under the US legal system of civil torts, quite literally anybody can be sued for virtually any reason by somebody else. One day, push came to shove, and for a mutual friend of ours, probably a minor weed bust, but I don't remember, he suddenly became his lawyer, walking into Court and all of that. He was a bit of an Actor, so I warned him. Don't impersonate a Lawyer, in Court. You could get into some serious trouble for that way. He said, Yeah, I know. Don't worry, I'm not. If are going to any place in the USA to eat and they don't have a salad (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc) then you are in the wrong place. Even fast food places like Wendy's have delicious, healthy salads. If you put on too much dressing, that's your fault. And I've never been to a salad bar that did not have the fixings of the salad I mentioned above.

Sure we have lots of bad food--lots of choices. But we have just as many good choices. Everywhere in the USA has a local farmers market. I went to England and tried Haggis and marmite--both vile. The salmon and cream and bread were fantastic. You have to search out good food where ever you go. OK, maybe not Italy. I swear it is all good!

In all the restaurants that I've had the privilege to work or dine at, the standard service of the Mayo salads (potato, mac or slaw), was 3 to 3.5 oz per portion. Quality house made, but I seldom remember anyone asking for more. It seems to be the perfect size, for a side dish. I am very capable of making any of them, and I've made 1000'a of pounds of any. It's easier than it sounds. Part of my restaurant experience was on a ship, of about a hundred foot, being several different Supply ships from time to time, supporting larger operations, up to about 125 feet. Generally, we had 6 on crew (men and women, mostly men). Two Captains, three deckhands and one cook, entertaining a clientele of about 25 worker/passengers, for a company who had hired us out. It was our job to provide them with everything, short of actually doing their job, which we always helped with, as needed. When I started out, I was fairly experienced with boats, but not professionally, so I was the lowest of deckhands. Within about a year, I was a trusted member of the crew. I eventually became a licensed Captain, and as well, a 'main cook', but it didn't start there. I progressed to being a First Mate (being able to relieve the Captain) and respected in the Galley (ship kitchen) as well. Both, just because I poked my nose in and did more than required. The company I worked for, was quite glad that I was so flexible of duty, and I didn't much care which I was assigned to, as whichever I wasn't, I showed up to anyway, on my own time, if I could be of any help. I had no idle feet, nor much need for sleep. Point being, under such conditions, we occasionally worked for some Scandinavian ships, and food wise, they had different tastes, which my cook knew well (as he had spent several years on ships around there). As such, he taught me to make 'German' variations of such salads, which basically just meant, same thing, leave out the Mayo, and use some nice vinegar's and Extra Virgin Olive Oil instead. Understood. As to parties or picnics with family and friends, it was known that I made some damn fine Mayo salads, and would probably show up with the lot of them, particularly if asked to, which was often. To me, if I was making one, it was just about as easy to make three, being of mostly the same ingredients, with slight variations. Most of us, even I, were familiar with 'German Potato Salad', as described (from most NY Deli's), as with a healthy bit of crumpled crisp bacon, or well minced and crisped ham of some sort on top, voila, German potato salad. Everyone knew that. Easy to get by. Cole slaw, no matter how fine, always required some mayo tho, but fear not. Mac salad required no Mayo, to be asked for again. Basically, same Mac ingredients, with oil and vin rather than mayo, but I added some beans, usually black, small red or chickpeas, or a combination, with some diced up dried apricots, cranberries, cherries, or whatever, and a few soft nuts, meaning pistachios or cashews, usually. A little of this or that, but always some parsley and fresh herbs, perhaps the best fresh tomatoes, and it's summer. A lot of mayo avoided, the point.

Edward Miessner - Not to spin your buttons, but as I understand it, and things might have changed, but in France, you have the right to prove yourself innocent, rather than the right to be presumed innocent. As well, in UK Law (as little as I understand it), you have the right to remain silent, but anything you 'Don't' say, can be used against you in a Court of Law. Whereas, here is the States, hoping this is true, any thing 'You do say, can be used in a Court of Law', rather that what you don't say. I believe that is included in the 5th Ammendment, at least. Big difference, all other considerations of freedom aside, France and the UK. I will caveat tho, that here in the States (and maybe France, maybe the UK), no Officer of the Court is allowed to lie to the Court, nor, once 'sworn in' (now an Officer of the Court), is any witness allowed to lie, under penalty of Law, let alone any Judge, Proscecuter or Lawyer of any sort, or even a common person. This is serious business here. If you lie in Court, no matter who you are, they might well Paninni your tender bits. Of course they won't, but you might serve 5 or 25 years in prison. You might end up wishing they would have whipped you, or grilled your nuts, rather than to suffer those years in prison. It's your choice, but no, it's not. We are a civil society afterall, so you don't get the option of a quick belt, or toasting. I'm not denying that what you say about the exceptional right of Law Enforcement here in the States is true, but rather in itself, whether that defines us as 'Less Free'. I think it is open to discussion, particularly considering the considerations of the Cops in France and the UK (and elswhere). Don't forget, up until a few years ago, I was a Peace Officer, so I do have a clue.

Could it be clearer? Yeah. Do some packages do so, not required by law, yes they do. I think what's happening, is that they are used to a certain standard of information in the UK. In the States, sometimes that's provided, sometimes you have to figure it out. Do I understand the gripe? Yes, I do. Does it get in my way? Usually not. Is the basic info in the States provided? Because searching a bag is an 'invasion of privacy', you almost have to be standing right next to them, watching them do it before you can do anything about it so it's easiest to ask people to leave their bags at the door. Regarding the flag. You guys were so excited to go to Boston. It’s a great city filled with the history of the founding of America. When you go, you should walk the freedom trail. It all started in Boston. Colonial resistance led to violence in 1770, when British soldiers opened fire on a mob of colonists, killing five men. That was the Boston Massacre. After December 1773, when a band of Bostonians dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded British ships and dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party, an outraged Parliament passed a series of measures designed to reassert imperial authority in Massachusetts. If the colonists were being taxed, they just wanted to be represented in the government. There’s nothing wrong with being patriotic, flying the flag and remembering the sacrifices that went into making this country.
