I too like the first lighter for all reasons you stated, plus its color makes it easy to see in the water. The arc lighters are useful especially in windy areas, but prolonged use can weaken the charge, and it seems easier just to carry butane than batteries.

Inexpensive butane lighters, especially torches, tend to leak. You need to get the valve at the bottom turn as low as possible or your butane leaves

I have messed around with those cheap lighters and I have found out when you drop it in water it dosent break it's the flint that gets wet you haft to let it dry and it will work at it is done
