I read through many comments. I was surprised how many of us trash talk ourselves. I thought I was the only one. It’s such a bad habit. When my husband hears me doing it, he says, “Stop it I’m not going to let you talk that way about the person I love.” I’m going to try and do better. I’m 62 and I’ve been doing it for years.

I really applaud this content. It is sensible and will do no one any harm, and isn't trying to sell anything dubious. Also, NOBODY talks about consistency. And yet, it's the small things we do that really add up to health, like sunscreen and hydration and a healthy breakfast.

This is exactly the kind of advice I needed to hear. I’m 42 and pre-menopausal. I lost 20 lbs last year (and wasn’t even near where I wanted to be), but my dad passed this year and it all came back and then some. I’ve been off and on since. Getting discouraged, binge eating, getting mad at myself, doing great for a few weeks and cycle is repeated. It’s refreshing to hear someone say “stop trash talking yourself.” I think that is my worst habit. I’m making a commitment to stop doing that to myself.

@user-np3kw6rr1w I'm a diabetic, so I'm taking off the brand of Ozempic. It has helped tremendously. Also, I fast every morning and don't eat until noon. I eat a small portion to keep my glucose leveled. Sometimes, I eat a second meal if I'm still hungry, but sometimes I don't get the urge to eat. The key is to keep your meals small and eat between noon and before 7 pm. This routine has helped me. *I DO THIS DAILY* If you feel like you can't, set a routine that will best fit you. Everyone is different and not one person does something the same. I hope this helps you out! Best of luck 👍

Pinkie promise! I think that’s the biggest thing I struggle with. 😢 to hype myself up I use negativity and then when I hit a plateau the negativity overwhelms me and I spiral back to my old ways. That’s just how I’ve gotten through life and it made me very successful in my career but it’s taken a toll on me mentally and that’s become apparent in my physical body. I have been really good this year about being more conscious of exercising and nutrition but trash talking is still prevalent as ever. I am going to try my hardest to be proud of myself even when I didn’t follow my workout or nutrition plan because 1 day doesn’t kill my progress, but 1 negative thought can. Thank you Katie ❤

The last few years before covid I was in a stressful job and gained 10 lbs. I gained another 10 lbs during the work from home period. I have now lost over 20 lbs since April 2022. At that time I tried keto with not a lot of success - 7 lbs in 6 weeks - and felt miserable on the diet. I decided to just try a good old fashioned healthy diet not demonizing any food group and eating smaller porportions without feeling hungry. I started walking again and now walk at least 45 minutes every day (only missed one day of walking in 2023 due to a work commitment) but what helped me the most was intermittent fasting. To do that I quit eating breakfast so I don't agree with your eating breakfast theory, at least not for me. I make sure I have a eating window between usually about 6-8 hours although occasionally I will do a 4-5 eating window to mix things up and I fast the rest of the time. To do this I cut out breakfast to eat 1-2 meals per day. Every 2 or 3 weeks, I do a 24 hour fast. I was a pretty healthy eater but really liked eating chips...I cut that out. I don't eat fast food anymore, I only eat out occasionally, i.e., girlfriend night out, date night, celebration, etc, preparing almost all meals at home, I only snack in the evening maybe 10% of the time and while I did not eat much processed food, I cut it out completely. I also developed a healthier attitute towards food and quit beating myself up over eating something "bad". I guess i quit stressing about food as much by just trying to eat as healthy as I can and if occasionally, I eat a little more or eat something not so good for me, oh well, I don't stress about it. I just make up for it the next day. Intermittent fasting allows me to eat what I want although I do choose to eat healthy. It works well for me. I also feel better when I eat healthy carbs. I have more energy and actually eat less and lose weight when I have healthy carbs in my diet despite what they tell us about carbs. So just remember we are all different and what works for one might not work for all. That being said, I like hearing what works for people in their weight loss journey. Specifically, while eating breakfast does not work for me, it may help others. Lastly, I completely agree with your talking trash point as I feel since I took a more relaxed view of food and my body, and started respecting myself, I started losing weight quicker.

She is nowhere near that time of life yet, and I'm not sure of her education/credentials, but I doubt she has any knowledge about any of that. I'm in perimenopause myself, and there is a lot of conflicting information and advice out there. Having said that, I do know cortisol has a lot to do with estrogen and progesterone regulation. Two youtube channels I'd suggest are DR. SUSAN HARTWICK-SMITH, and DR. BERG. They both have great information on perimenopause and menopause!

I highly suggest the youtube channels of either Melissa Neil or Dr. Jamie Seaman (Doctor Fit and Fabulous) for advice on losing weight in perimanopause and true menopause. Dr. Jamie Seaman is a gynecological surgeon (who has multiple children and is in fantastic shape) and Melissa Neil got into competition shape from out of shape in her 50s during menopause (she also has multiple children). I love Love Sweat Fitness for most things, but these other ladies are top tier in their information about fitness during menopausal hormonal changes.

It’s hard in the US because we have added sugar in everything. We took a two week trip to Europe and noticed even desserts were less sweet. Meals were less salty. When we got home, I could taste how salty and overly sweet things were. I decided to cut a couple of things out immediately. Slowly I switched from sugar in my coffee to a little less with raw honey. It was enough sweetness to satisfy my sweet craving..and it was less than I needed as opposed to sugar. Yes, it’s still sugar, but process a little differently. Small changes.

I'm doing all of these things ( still working on number 5). 2 kids, PCOS, desk job, lack of sleep, gallbladder removal and free buffet style food (at my work) every day can do a number on your body. I have gained 40lbs since having kids , and am finally in a place where I can take a little bit of care of myself. Going to the gym 3 times a week now and trying to eat 1400 calories a day. No matter what combo of foods I eat in that calorie range I have been SO hungry! Around a week in so I'm hoping my hunger will calm down soon.

Health and wellness is highly individual. You should always personalize your habits. If you find that your eating window works better than what was suggested in the video, then stick to that because you know your own body. Online information can be very helpful to get ideas but it's always best to take an individualized approach.

That self talk. Dang. I learned it from my mom who still calls herself stupid 😢 If we talked to our friends the way we talk to ourselves, we’d soon lose all our friends. It helped me to keep a Hug Journal where I wrote out all the things I’m good at, in a little pocket notebook. I even put things like “I excel at showering” because I literally thought I couldn’t do anything right. It helped.
