“It’s better to be overdressed than underdressed.” Is a nice one! Makes me feel good about feeling overdressed more than once. These days my casual clothes are people’s going out clothes and my going out clothes is usually overdressed. It wasn’t like that a couple decades ago.

@@StevensBorowsky I definitely get a significant confidence boost when I dress well; no doubt about that. I also get compliments very often from both men and women which regularly opens the door for conversation. Not entirely sure what dressing "normal" would entail. How I dress is what I would consider normal (good fit, color matching, layering, etc...). A lot of men just dress below average.

Important things: 0:15 First Thing ÷ Dress For The Setting That You're In; 2:33 Second Thing ÷ Fit And Knowing Your Body Type; 4:18 Third Thing ÷ Steam / Iron Your Clothing; 5:34 Fourth Thing ÷ Classics Are Greater Than Trendy Pieces; 7:28 Fifth Thing ÷ Understanding Color Theory; 8:25 Color Wheel; 8:42 Complimentary Color Wheel; 9:12 I totally agree with that Courtney (don't use different colors for trousers, and top); 9:43 Analogous Wheel; 10:19 Neutral Colors; 10:41 Understanding Contrast; 12:43 Bonus Rule ÷ Don't Use Dirty, Or Torn Underwear; and 13:12 to summarize all the told here. This Bonus Rule that can be Sixth Thing that you have mentioned. I might add thing that I have mentioned in some of your videos. And that is Seventh Thing ÷ Watch The Material From Witch Is Clothes Made. By that I mean to see what is the material used for one type of clothes, and what is for other type of clothes. Cause some materials for clothes aren't good for your health. They can made some allergies, or perhaps some other diseases. I agree that clothes needs to be ironed, or steamed, but I have to say that some clothes don't need that (cause that's told in the instructions, or declarations; call it whatever you want). When I was a little child I always remembered one thing that my mom told me when getting dressed up. She told me this: "Son, don't dress like a parrot. Match the colors." What you have told there Courtney, that can apply also to women as well. When I saw these colors of wheels, I remembered also the similar thing that we modelers (meaning for doing to model kits, just to understand each other) use when painting, and detailing the model kits (either you will use an olive green, or sea green for painting the model kit of airplane, or helicopter, etc.). From all the told here, we can summarize it to these things: Match Your Dress Code For Appropriate Situations; Keep Them Clean And Tidy (and with no holes on them); Make The Appropriate Contrast In Colors; and Choose The Appropriate Material From Which Are Clothes Made. The color of the nails goes well with the design of the jewelry Courtney. P.S. I am engaged in hobby model making, and I have an eye for details (believe it or not) 😉🙂. Thank you Courtney ❤💙🤍.

Great content! I’m a bigger guy (6’6” 240 lbs) so the lines between finding clothes that I like vs find clothes that like me rarely intersect. So for those people who can’t shop like the masses do, I recommend finding brands that work well for you; fits your personal style, has consistency in their sizing, and is well made. That way you can shop online with much more confidence and it’ll open up so many more opportunities for you to quickly build an impressive wardrobe 😊

The performance boxer-briefs are categorized by the following: cottons for regular dress, synthetics for gym and active wear. Trust me, women notice this stuff. Spending a little bit more on tailoring pays off manyfold. Monochromatic is good for not-so-tall people, it makes one somewhat taller 'cause of no different lower & upper colours visually cutting the body shape in the middle.

Dressing for the setting you are in is a rule I drummed into my young adult sons when they were younger. My eldest son has now graduated and before he started at a law firm I suggested he dress like the young managers two levels above him (not the Partners) so you fit in. Hence he wears a suit when with clients and chinos, button down and quarter zip pullover when just working in the office. Lace up shoes, well polished is a rule in both cases. He gets it, he feels comfortable, he is well thought of.

I think there's another big factor. Personality plays a huge role as well in deciding what would look good on you. It's not just about the physical appearance. It's also about how the person will carry what they're wearing. For ex: Chris Rock might not be able to pull of what Lil Wayne wears and vice versa. My body structure and face and hair are appropriate for very bright dresses but I'm not sure how I'd carry them because I'm more poised/minimalist generally as a person.

I found that burgundy colors look great on me, just recently purchased a burgundy bomber jacket that is well fitted to my body. Got many compliments on it. Spending money on underwear is a must. Courtney your future children are going to be dressed so well since you know about style.

Good video. If it's not too difficult for you, next time can you include pictures as examples for some of the color coordination/combination ideas as you describe them?

As someone who's probably a bit on the spectrum, i find these fashion rules type of videos very interesting because i don't really have much of a clue about fashion. I know what i think looks good on women, but im not very clued up about how to style myself. So much so that i'm actually considering hiring a personal stylist before i get back out on the dating market. Any advice here is gratefully received! P.S. i have some holes in my underwear.....reduce, reuse, recycle right? 😅

As someone who prides in how they dress and seems to be noticed for it, a tip I picked up a while ago that has stuck is to match your belt with your shoes, IE if your belt is brown, wear brown shoes. Also tucking in some shirts while leaving others untucked can drastically alter your fit’s appearance. Sometimes t-shirts can look better tucked in while a button down would look better untucked! (Based on what the situation calls for of course)

First off, I would LOVE a video about color matches, contrasts, and shopping for body size. Secondly, is there somewhere or someone to talk to who could walk me through fashion in person? I would like to be able to see things in the flesh. And third...do I REALLY have to throw away my holey drawers? 😂 They are my most comfortable!

I just went on a first date where I took time to wear something causal but clean and crisp that fit and looked good on me (one could alway argue that I could have worn something different/better). The woman I was meeting showed up looking like haggard mom running errands on a Sunday. Needless to say we are not having a second date. I wasn’t expecting a low cut blouse, mini skirt and 6” heels but some care into how she looked would have gone a long way!

Pro tips: 1. If you take dress shirts out of the dryer immediately and put them on hangers, you can avoid ironing them. Most men's dress shirts are permanent press. They'll look better ironed, but they won't be unkempt. 2. For travel, pack a travel iron. Although these days, most decent hotels have an iron and ironing board (something begun by the military, BTW). 3. Watch your gig line. Fly of trousers, belt buckle, and shirt buttons in one vertical line.
