The flip side is Tuvalu is one of the nation's at the forefront impacted by Climate change. The highest point is just 4.6m above sea level, most islands are only 2m above sea level. Islanders are increasingly finding it hard to grow any subsistence crops due to sea water from higher tides and increasing storms. Most supplies have to be flown in, when the conditions are favourable. Well within this century these islanders will have to abandon the nation and seek refuge elsewhere ( most likely Australia and New Zealand). These Pacific Islands are desperate for our international attention and get largely ignored at climate conferences because of the unpalatability of the inconvenient truth that they are living.

I think the host is rating Bhutan as a strange place coz of the $250 fee the country imposes on foreign tourists. The thing is Bhutan is a tiny country and the only way to preserve their culture from the hippie and drug travellers that have overtaken Nepal and much of SEA, is by making it unaffordable to this strata.

Honestly I'm totally ok with paying outrageous Bhutanese tourist taxes because the reason they levy it is that they don't want to industralise their area by cutting down trees or cause deforestation to increase tourist spots so they need money from somewhere. Such a noble country w a noble cause, imma support the shit out of them.
