One tip that you didn't mention and I would suggest is : don't over complicate things. Sometimes, especially when I was starting, I wanted to layer way too many sounds, put a shit load of FX, etc. and I realized that it's not necessary for a song to be complicated to sound good. Just listen carefully to your song and ask yourself : does it need more elements ? To me, sound selection is the key as you mentioned, not only for samples but also for the instruments / VSTs / presets you're using. I think it's much more important to spend time choosing great sounds than trying to achieve a perfect mix for example. To me, what matters the most is a catchy melody or the overall mood of the song, as long as the mix isn't too bad ofc.

I literally followed all the tips that MHA mentioned in his video. Last week, my track was played in one of the biggest radio stations of all Lithuiania (country where I live). And u know what? All I used in that track was mha samplepacks, soundbanks and the Aya Anne vocal pack from SOUNDLE. MHA here is spitting FACTS!

The best feeling in producing for me is the "LEVEL UP" - Its a thing that just clicks all of a sudden every couple of months and my music just gets a level up! The high lasts for about 12 hours and then im back at "Man this can sound better" - and then im off to more learning to get to that next level.

A HUGE tip you didn't mention that helped me a lot is : working with other people (not necessarily collab). You learn sooo much from that. You get to see a different perspective how the person works on music, workflow, sound selection, layering, his own tips, etc etc. I also wanted to stay the quality of your videos keeps improving, it looks really professional !!

Whoa, I'll remember this 1. Use Great Sounds 2. Finish Your Songs 3. Remake Songs 4. Make/Listen to Different Genres 5. Keep Learning! Copy that! Thx Melker
Focus on mixing rather than mastering. A good mix can make your track sounds good, even without mastering it. You can't fix mixing with mastering. And I recommend to NEVER let all the mixing to be done in the end. Do it throughout the production process. And MHA, get better soon! Great content.

Another tip I would mention is to MIX GENRES. Like for example Mo Falk's "colour house" movement where Colour Bass and Future House were combined into one, and it worked. There's probably more tracks where people have no idea some elements were taken from other genres. I swear you can be very creative with tons of genres out there and form some magic. Especially if you understand how certain genres work and how it can correlate with other genres.

A tip you forgot to mention that I try to do so much is find friends or family who love music but don't necessarily listen to the genre of music you make and have them listen to a song you are creating it will give you outside prospective. It will help with getting a song to go from one that fans of that genre will listen to, to fans of music will listen to.

I don't even know how to start a song. Like I would love to venture more genre than just progressive house (maybe tech house or deep house because it's easier to make [maybe]) but every time I open FL studio my brain just turns off. I don't know what sounds to use, I don't know how to arrange the sounds, and I know I don't need any fancy plugins to make a song, but every time I try to make one I can see how much low effort i put.
