5 STEPS for your first "tameshigiri (mat cutting)!" How to get a clean cut with a katana

Ойын-сауық

*The content is based on personal studies and experience
There is no intention of denying other theories and cultural aspects
1. Hold the katana with your right hand on top, and keep about two fingers
worth of distance between your left hand (that is on bottom).
2. Bring your right foot forward, bend your knees, and stretch out your arm and wrists in front of you (the tip of the katana at about your chest height)
3. Raise your hands as high as possible above the top of your head.
4. Shift your katana to the right by bringing your left hand above your right ear, and slightly turn the sharp edge outwards
5. Swing your katana down to your left waist, as you draw a straight line
from above your head. When you swing, imagine you are throwing a fishing line, or an apple that’s stuck to the tip of your sword as far as possible. Relax your shoulders and arms, and from a high position
draw a big circle with the tip of your katana.
Then let’s try cutting!
However, each ryuha style will have different methods, so what I explained is not an absolute answer.
