In this video, I briefly go over the Top 10 States Highest Paying States for Nurses in the US. But, what's most important is finding out which are the best and worst states for nurses to work in when you take the cost of living into account.
And yes, I AM AN IDIOT ( I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE ORIGINAL VIDEO WITH THOUSANDS OF VIEWS *sad face*)
So, instead of just giving you numbers that you could easily google yourself, I go deep into the data and show you the results. I collected salary data from BLS.gov, found out what the net pay would be in every single state after taxes are deducted, looked up median home salaries in all of the states on the list, and ran those numbers through a mortgage calculator in order to find out what percentage of your income would be going towards taxes and your mortgage.
This final number would tell us which state would leave you with the most amount of money at the end of the day after taxes are deducted and your main living expense is paid for (your mortgage). After all is said and done, I will give you a complete breakdown of the 5 highest-paying and 5 lowest-paying states for nurses in the US.
And, I know many of the states on this list will surprise you, many will not-as they should, or shouldn't-but that's to be expected because when we break down the numbers on as broad of a scale as an entire state, and not a county or a city, the numbers will be very lopsided.
Instead, if you enjoyed this video's format, I highly suggest you watch my video on the following topic, which narrows the numbers to the city level in every state: • Cities Where NURSES ma...

The amount of work u put into this and w how pretty this is, u deserve a whole lot more than 4K subs. This is 1.1m+ content right here. Seriously, thank you. This is a dictionary definition of going above and beyond. So many things u didn’t have to do but did anyways to make this. Having done some graphic design in school, I can’t imagine the headaches u prob had while editing all the graphics n words tog for the video lol

Thank you so much for noticing the amount of work it takes to put these videos together.. It takes an unforgiving amount of time to plan, put together, film, edit, post, and promote these videos. That's why it's nearly impossible for me to upload every week, especially considering the fact at we have so many responsibilities with our daughter, our newborn, and work.

Might move out of CA to finish LVN to BSN then come back for another year of foundation training as a new grad BSN. Your videos are Gold!! I’ll also share with my classmates :)

@@jg1296 No no no, fi ish your LVN and any other degree out of state. That is one area where I would not recommend someone move to California. California's tuition rates are higher than any other state in the country. If you could obtain your degree in a state with lower tuition rates and THEN come work in California, that would be the most ideal situation.

Montana is a beautiful state but it's not very diverse (it's 87.8% white and 0.56% black). It's also a state for someone looking to live in mostly farmland. And, although the scenery is beautiful, for someone like me it will get boring very quickly. In addition to that, the pay is not so great and you'll be left with less money in your bank account at the end of your paycheck than most other states.

If you live and work in the major cities (LA, San Francisco, San Diego, etc...) you won't need a car but this also means it won't be worth moving it gets because your cost of living will be extremely high unless you get a roommate(s) or work a good amount of overtime.

As a traveler I can say this is someone misleading for you can’t judge scenarios by state but by city. I lived in Florida. The state you work in isn’t going to pay your expenses. If you are doing this on your own, without any sponsorship from a company/organization/hospital then you are solely responsible for the cost involved. Maybe you can claim some of these expenses when you file your taxes. You would have to talk to a tax professional with regards to that. If you are being sponsored by an entity, then you have asked them these questions. Good luck.

Please no one attend ICHS international college of health sciences in Boynton Beach (acen accredited). 90% student body are from California and unaware of battles & scheming that awaits. Spread The Word. 100s don't pass exit exam each semester and held there much longer than anticipated. "Contracts" change every semester. With that $$ you can move to any state's community college!! Where goes all the money ICHS?? Barely a campus. Little clinical site availability. Students pay proctor most exam. On campus testing is another nightmare. Exams questions completely random and each is at least 30-45% grade. Staff are 'fired' and rehired rotating positions constantly. Staff death from overdoses and fired for sexual favor 'rumors'. Unable to reach staff by phone, email, or in-person and so many LIES. Family&friend-run business racket. Somehow does DeSantis benefit?!

Your numbers seem flawed. There are other factors that come into play when figuring numbers like that. I live on the East Coast as a nurse I make $83,000/year and had a brand new 3300 sq ft home built last summer for $285,000. So my mortgage is less than $1000/ month my property taxes are nothing . You couldn't pay me to live in California. My sister is also a nurse in SD and is paying over $4000 in mortgage and over $7000 in property taxes.. she's also not making not much more than I am. The only thing saving her is the fact that she's married. It's not about money, it's about happiness.

The salaries are coming directly from The Bureau of Labor and Statistics. They are median salaries. Some nurses will earn more, some will earn less. That is the nature of median vs mean. The same goes for the housing prices. These are median real estate prices. Which means states that have a higher concentration of homes in large cities (like NYC) will have a higher median home price. This is why I created a video breaking down the salaries and cost of living by city, because that number will be more accurate than the state data. Also, you have to remember that anecdotal data is not the same as objective data. If that were the case I could bring up our scenario and tell you that my wife and I bring in $19k per month after taxes and after maxing out our 401k. I could also tell you that we bought a home here which cost at least 1/5th what it would have cost us in NYC and we pay fewer property taxes than our brother does for a home that is 1/3rd the size in NY (not even in NYC). Overall, we are happier here because we are able to work less and earn more. And, this video is not made to convince anyone to move to any particular area. If you enjoy living where you are, by all means, continue to do so. I just make these videos to provide nurses with information they might need before making a decision to move to another state.
