About Dude Dad:
Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 3 kids and over 300+ videos. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.
In addition to Dude Dad©, I have been in numerous TV shows, commercials, and have regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I will also be hosting my own TV show called "Super Dad" on the new Magnolia Network / Discovery+. Heidi and the kids will also be a part of the show. I am originally from the rural community of Howard, South Dakota.

I can remember being pregnant with our 3rd one (complete with hyperemesis, which I enjoyed with each pregnancy, so literally barfing every day for the whole 9 months), and looking after our 2 other kids, plus the house, and my husband came down with the flu. He required that I wait on him hand and foot because he was "dying". That was about 48 hours so not too bad. When I was sick though? Mr Sympathy: "Wow, you are ALWAYS sick. You should look after your health better.". I'm not sure why I haven't strangled him yet. (The 3rd baby was born 25 years ago. He's still the same sympathetic guy he was then.....his response to my daily vomitting was "Can you stop making that noise? I can't eat.")

I’m married to a pretty amazing man. He pushes through the whole time, working from home so he doesn’t get coworkers sick (his job is flexible). If he does actually spend a day in bed I know it’s really serious. Although, I wish he would let me take care of him more, he says I already do enough for him and the kids and he doesn’t want to put one more thing on my plate. He will also offer to work from home and take care of the kids if I’m feeling sick. Like I said, he’s amazing!😊

This is almost like my husband, except he continues to say he's not sick when he clearly is. He'll follow it with a shot of vodka, says that'll cure it (it doesn't), then says he just needs to nap for a few minutes (hours go by), and continues to push through it, usually chugging a few beers along with the occasional tea (that'll counter the beers) while he does some chores out in the garage. He never gets sick. He was never sick.....sure.

So true! My husband rushed recovery after an…emergency appendectomy. 13 days in the hospital, told to wait 4-6 weeks before returning to work (school band director). He waited 2 weeks, went back to work (marching band season, hot September), was standing in the middle of the practice field and realized, “Hey, I feel light-headed.” 🤦🏻‍♀️ The kids even noticed he wasn’t all right. The other band directors told him they hadn’t expected him back for at least another month, but, noooooo, “gotta push through it!” Addendum: this was the same man who started his first teaching job in January (1996). We got married in February on a Saturday and I had to force him to take Monday off because his job was in another state; he was going to marry me then dump me in a new town/state nearly 350 miles away without at least showing me around first. He refused to go on a honeymoon because he was afraid they’d fire him. The school faculty had a small get together for us and the principle said…I didn’t expect you back for at least a week. 27 years later I’m still waiting in that honeymoon.

I just spent almost the month of October with severe sore throat (if i could have ripped my own throat out I would have to stop the pain) then changed into a very strong sinus & throat cold. I'm now down to a more manageable symptoms - But through it all my hubby has been there for me ❤❤❤. Between going to the store to keep us fed & getting anything I was needing or such, backrubs, keeping up the house,... He knows i don't complain (but when I start crying from the pain/symptoms - he knows that's not my MO) but he comes thru! ❤❤❤

My husband is ex military so he never complains about being sick. However, the stages could be denial, more denial, coughing and sneezing everywhere and then more denial, admitting sickness and crashing and all better the next day. Loved the phone order.

For my husband, he refuses to go to bed unless he actually feels like hell just froze over. He will work through it and wonders why I go to bed when I'm feeling unwell. He thinks he gets better faster by working through it. I think I need to take care of myself by staying in bed and getting lots of rest. Then I don't get others in the family sick.

Been married almost 45 years. Depends on what the ailment is, but my husband is mostly a suffer in silence or take care of himself type. He rarely asks for my help, so if he does, I know he's really feeling lousy, and I'm happy to help him.

Love, love this video!! Heidi did an awesome job 👏. My husband was coughing because he is allergic to dust, and working with harvesting stirs up a lot of dust. So he's coughing like crazy and I want to give him an allergy pill, and he's like , what pill, what for?!!

My husband is the same way. But he can take cold& flu medicine I cannot, I use to but not anymore, it cancel out my pills. Then he want my chicken soup only, homemade along with homemade egg noodles, fights me about not wanting to drink the hot tea, the ginger-ale, taking a tablespoon of honey or the oyster crackers, if we don't have saltines or if we don't have either the he gets upset about having to eat dry toast and the late step, me telling him that the vaper rub won't kill him. What really get me mad is I do all this for him and he can be better in 3 to 4 days. When I get sick, it sticks around for a month or more, I have to do everything for myself plus the house work.

My husband must work a little differently. When he's "literally dying," he's fine and just being a big baby. But if he's pushing through, he is REALLY jacked up. He's had major surgery and was instructed to stay in bed for at least a week before venturing around the house, but still got out of bed to take the trash out.
