P.S. What size allen wrench to adjust the Tripp Trapp? To adjust the seat and footrest, the bolts on the side can be loosened with a size 4mm allen wrench - thanks for watching!

Looking at the manual online, it looks like the seat is supposed to be lowered to the second setting around 18 months, but it says the baby set should be used until 36 months. Now I'm confused.

Hi Shawn, great observation - I hadn’t noticed that before and so I did a bit of looking up myself to see if I could help you with this. Upon googling “tripp trapp manual” the first link was a pdf manual of the tripp trapp manual and I confirm there is a chart on there which recommends the seat moved down to the 2nd groove. The one I came across was published in Feb 2014. Going on the Tripp Trapp webpage, scrolled down to documents, and pulled up both of the user guides (one is general other is baby set). These recommended to always have the baby set seat on groove 1 at least up to 3 years old or “when the child can go safely in and out of the chair on its own accord” at which point Tripp Trapp implies discontinuing the baby set and opt for just the seat and footplate itself. They also did not include the chart with the 18 month old recommendation. These manuals were published Nov 2022 and Feb 2023 respectively. So I’d check out the published date of the pdf you came across and defer to whichever manual is more current. Based on the Feb ‘23 manual, Tripp Trapp has left the decision to use baby set up to 3 years to the caregiver’s judgement based on child’s ability to get on/off safely themselves. Hope that helps clarify!

Wish I could adjust the height of the seat and still use the harness straps. Toddler is getting to be 20mo and too tall to sit at the highest setting.

I wish that was adjustable as well. We removed the harness for our little and she now eats at the table instead of the white tray. She requires supervision of course so she doesn’t try to be too brave and get down by herself or toss her body around when she doesn’t like the food.

Although informative, this didn’t tell me how to adjust them though.

Thanks for visiting! Hopefully my instructions below help answer your question. To adjust the footplate, use a 4mm allen wrench to loosen the 4 bolts on the sides of the chair that attach to the 2 black cross bars. Once they are loosened enough the footplate can be wiggled free out of those grooves and reinserted to the depth you’d like. Don’t forget to tighten the bolts again! 😅 Adjusting the seat is similar except you may have to loosen the bolts that attach to wood slats which are the back rest and wiggle free (cannot adjust it’s height if the bucket seat is attached). Adjusting the straps is difficult to explain in text but can be seen at 1:30. Enjoy the weekend!

​@tummytimeacademy HUGE thanks for that tip on adjusting - me and my wife were hammering the plates like barbarians until I saw your comment and we could adjust the depth without disturbing our neighbours 😂

This video is so useless I can’t even. Basically says “make sure you adjust the straps right”. Yeah, no kidding! Can you show me how?!? Like where should they fall??
