I have a 16610 that I've had for 27 years. It was even hard to find then. Everyone thought I was nuts to spend $2,500 on a watch. I have 7 5/8" wrists and just purchased a GO SeaQ Panorama with the blue dial and bezel and absolutely love it. It's not cheap but I feel it is head and shoulders above anything a modern Sub has to offer. Nice job on the alternatives.

Love the Tudor BB58 & the Grand Seiko looks great! Hand built in Japan

Both, Glashutte compared, are quite different in specs. One is older, hence, cheaper! Newer is way nicer!

Excellent alternatives 👌 I absolutely love my Omega SMP & PO. I have a 7.5” wrist and I also loved the Tudor BB 41. The submariner is such a plain and tasteless looking watch, although iconic.

Paying toll to the 160+ yr history of the village of Glashütte, it might be helpful advising that the brand name is actually a combination of Glas (= glass) and Hütte (=hut, barn), so there is no „sh“ in it, but it is rather more pronounced like „glass - hit - ey“. Wonderful timepiece, all crafted by hand and onsite. Look forward to see more videos like this from you !

Glas who te. Purchased mine in blue with a fully brushed bracelet.

I think the Tag Heuer Aqua Racer 300 professional is also a nice and semi-affordable alternative.

How big is your wrist? That GS fits you well

JLC polaris should have been on this list of alternatives. It is better-finished than the Sub and is not a copycat "homage" look. It has its own style with a great movement.

Would have been nice if you would have showed the lume quality

I love my Pro Driver for under $100.

I would have gone with Seiko SLA057/SLA055, having Seamaster 8800 along with PO 8800 already. Seiko SLA05s is hands down much better than Submariner.

Rtolex tudor cuesta cuanto

A Tudor is a Rolex. I would gladly take an Oris Aquis or Tissot Seastar 2000 before a Tudor.

Haha! I can see that the Grand Seiko bezel doesn’t line up. I went to a store with the cash in my pocket to buy this watch, I was even willing to put up with the garbage adjustable clasp, bit when I found that the bezel was full of back play and didn’t line up I gave up on Grand Seiko. I tried 3 of them and they were all the same. Seiko is crazy and so is anyone who accepts this. I will only concede that the design is beautiful.

Ever heard of a parallax error, my guy? Look at the sub shots at 0:22 - neither of them are aligned as well. Finishing and movement accuracy of GS is OBJECTIVELY better than Rolex. What's crazy is the amounts people are willing to spend to buy Rolex on the gray market

Sorry but I call BS to you on that. I have the GS SBGA229 the steel diver and the bezel is 120 clicks and lines up perfectly. In fact the bezel action is lovely as well, so anyone who says this is just trying to sh*t on Seiko as a brand because that comment doesn’t reflect the reality of this watch. The only gripe you could have with the GS diver is the clasp and for me I like it - makes it feel like a proper tool watch not just a diver wannabe like a Sub.

I have a 16800 Submariner, Omega PO 2500, Tudor Pelagos and many Seiko divers, MM300 and Darth Tuna. Never had any problems with Seiko alignment. I had to teach myself to remove the bezel of my Omega because the alignment was off. It seems to be a common issue for the early Planet Oceans, I fixed a few for my friends as well. Apart from that, my PO is the one that gets the most wristime

Glashütte Original, Grand Seiko and Omega are beyond Rolex in quality (and beauty). Only idiots buy an overpriced Rolex or wait on a list 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rolex to me is “ the emperors new clothes “ . Yes, very nice BUT the price and waiting list is ridiculous! Wouldn’t even bother. Rolex sells the name and who the hell buys and dives wearing a £10,000 watch ? A seiko or many others are equally accurate and a lot cheaper!

Waiting list: Ten years. New Submariner: At least 15.000 Euros unworn. Or more… Omega Planet Ocean 43,5: 6000 Euros. New. Whenever you want.

The Submariner, often imitated but never duplicated! The only ones who Bash on the submariner is people who can’t afford it or are to stingy to pull the trigger on buying one!

Have you experienced walking into a Rolex AD,…where you are an established client,…ready, able and willing to buy a Rolex only to be told you can’t and they will place you on a waiting list? It is a joke,..,like a Monty Python sketch. Customer walks into a jeweler. “Are you an authorized Rolex dealer?” “Yes.” “Can I see some Rolex watches?” “Yes.” “Wow! This is a really nice showroom!” “Yes it is. Rolex tells us how to design the space,…down to the light fixtures. But we paid for the renovations.” “Can I try this Explorer II 42mm on? “Yes.” “Wow! This fits me perfectly. I’ll take it.” “Well,…you will have to wait some time for one. We have a waiting list. I’ll put you on it but I can’t tell you how long it will take.” “Can’t you sell me this one? The one on my wrist?” “No. It’s not for sale. Besides its movement has been spiked. It doesn’t work. If you want a Rolex now you can buy one on the gray market for 50% or 100% Bose retail though. Watch for counterfeits.” “On second thought,…maybe I’ll spend my hard earned money on a Grand Seiko. Thanks.”
