Thanks for the information.. I’ve been getting by with the original drum for years. Think I’ll contact RCBS and see if they’ll send me a drum with the smaller bore. Can’t hurt to ask.

Paul, your handle and powder adjustment screw are both aligned 'downward'. In this configuration with the 'handle DOWN', the cylinder drum is 'open to the hopper'. Lifting the 'handle UP' will then 'charge the case' by aligning powder in the cylinder drum opening to the case. Tapping the handle 2-3 times with handle 'DOWN' does what exactly, since no powder charge is be coming out into the case? I have the handle configured 180 deg out from the adjustment screw, such that 'handle UP' places powder in cylinder drum and 'handle DOWN' will then charge the case! Tapping the lowered handle would then make sense IMO.

Hey thanks for watching! Up to charge the drum and down to dispense is how I use this powder measure. I have gotten away from tapping the handle and prefer tapping the whole powder measure with my hand (gently). Tapping the handle has proven to loosen the set screw on my set-up. I will re-watch the video and try and see what your seeing.

True in this config it dispended in the handle up config. Definately tap to get consistent drops. It settles the powder in the hopper and helps all the powder to drop. Good catch.

Hi sir. Thanks for explaining this strange piece of equipment! Been reloading for over 10 years using the RCBS single stage "Rock Chucker". I have always measured powder by scooping powder up with a small spoon and dropping into the cup on a scale. Resaon being I figured I'd never get "exact" dump to dump using the hopper. I measure using an electronic scale, and checking the scale repeatability with a "standard" stainless screw from time to time while loading up for a rifle match. If the goal is 26 grains, all my rounds are charged with exactly 26.0 grains which is of course 25.5 - 26.4 actual grains or approx +/- 1.5%. My point is how repeatable is the hopper? Will it measure out to +/- 0.5 grains? thanks!

To answer your specific question, with anything but “rod” powder, it can be quite accurate. Some measures are better than others. A consistent technique for working the handle is key. What powder are you using?

@@comodice905 below 20 grains I would use the small drum. At 6-7 grains you have to use the small drum.
