On this episode of Steelers Touchdown Under: Matty shares 5 reasons why the Pittsburgh Steelers chose to trade Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles and why moving their 2022 first round pick makes sense…or at least makes sense to the Steelers’ front office.
Do you think the Steelers should have traded Kenny Pickett or kept him and tried to continue working through his off-field & on-field issues? Leave your thoughts or opinions in the comments below!

mrlotto6, at the moment the Steelers only have one QB, who is 37 years old, if Wilson gets injured like Aaron Rogers did in the first qtr. of his first game as a Jet, who is going to pick up the slack on short notice? They should have signed Mason and cut Kenny first. Mason is a known entity, if the Steelers draft or do a trade for another QB that other teams didn't want than my comment unfortunately could come true aka shot themselves in the foot to save money and possibly leave , TJ, Heyward, and Fitzpatrick with yet another losing season when they deserve the best chance to win a SB before retirement. I truly hope I am wrong; however, I always trust my gut. I admit that I am not a Wilson fan, because he isn't that good anymore, but than I tend to question Art Rooney's judgement regarding the Steelers legacy, what would Dan Rooney do?

Plus I work professionally in the media & PR field…people spin more narratives than ever AND sports media jump on a narrative, slice it, dice it, flip it inside out and back again, and sometimes to a point they do a 360. Id say he didn’t react well, they saw the writing on the wall that it might not get better, and made a move. But I agree a young QB - not a 1st rounder and not Bo Nix - should be drafted!

The Steelers paid Kenny a 2-million-dollar roster bonus! I wonder if the Steelers hadn't paid the bonus if the pick swap would have been a 7th for a 6th instead of a 3rd for a 4th and the 7th round picks wouldn't be coming to the Steelers. Just a thought. I think that Khan is gaining draft capital for a move to get our next franchise QB. I wouldn't mind if they took two QBs in the draft like the Redskins did for RG3 and Cousins. They could always trade one of them later as teams always need QBs. This is such a good and deep QB draft class the likes that seldom comes along.@@steelerstouchdownunder

Interesting see I only see 3 prospects worth drafting in the first 2 rounds and a maybe (JJ McCarthy), Penix Jr doesn’t have the frame for the NFL and Bo Nix will be worse in the Pros than Pickett. But the picks will give them leverage for sure to move up or down and get the top talent. I agree they did well to get a top 100 pick and that’s all about leverage. Plus Fields could still be an option with a 2025 pick…Khan did well for sure!

There are about 10 players in this years draft that would have been ranked above any of the players from the 2022 draft. Bo Nox will not get out of the first round more than likely. Nix has it between the ears and is a better athlete than many think. Not a bad arm and also 4.59 in the 40. He is older like Kenny but a much better prospect IMHO! Not that he hasn't had misses, but Chris Simms has Bo Nix as his 3rd best QB in this QB draft.@@steelerstouchdownunder

I can’t get behind the prospect of Bo Nix but I see why people like him, but Daniel Jeremiah isn’t a fan and I trust him over Sims. But you’re 100% right that it’s definitely a lot better class than 2022. With Fields the 3rd qb will be a late pick definitely think Milton could be an option…

Reason #1 He was not good! He was a game manager that couldn't manage a game! Reason #2 He gets injured a lot! He is a skinny kid that tries to run around like cam Newton! Reason #3 He is old and was at his ceiling! It was not so much of a development as adjusting to the pro game. Reason #4 Pocket presence bailing on clean pockets! He played nervous! He was afraid of making mistakes. The first year he was slinging the ball without hesitation, This year, however, he played not to lose or not to be the reason to lose. Reason #5 He sucks and he knows that he sucks! This is why he felt threatened by Mason Rudolf's success at the end of the year. He felt threatened by Russell Wilson's signing with the team. He knows that he can't beat either of these QBs in an honest competition. He knew deep down that he was not good enough! That's why he leaves to be a backup where there is no pressure!
