Very educational. My father's German side lived there before immigrating to Canada in early 1900's. When they lived there Alsace still belonged to Germany.

Excellent Helena have just found you via your article in today’s Daily Mail. Suddenly wine makes sense! Great video. Watched the 2000 Total Eclipse of the sun from nearby. Gewurztraminer wine is one of my favourites.

I am thinking of spending my 30th birthday in Alsace, I've always wanted to go! Can I ask- are there many vegan options for food out there, and is there a good hospital as I have some health issues :)

Rachael W. Hello Rachael could you tell me what is the uniqueness of Alsace over all region in France?

Lara Knight hello ! All the typical alsacian foods are not vegan because they are well known for their meat ! However you can definately find vegan options in every restaurant and shops :) And yes Colmar, Strasbourg and Mulhouse have the best hospitals ( actually training to becoming a nurse at Colmar haha ) hope you have fun !

Roghib Fakhri Hello ! Sure, Alsace is known all over France for it's wine as the lady in this video described ! It also has beautiful scenery with a lot of mountains and old towns, quite a lot of castles aswell. Alsace has a very rich history, especially during the two world wars ( there are still a lot of bunkers and refuges that have been there since the war ), which led them to being "german" then being "french" again a few times since the region is situated right on the border. This also means that the older generation have their own language called Alsacian, that obviously is unique to the region ! Alsace is also known for their typical food : choucroute, tarte flambée ( flammenkuesche ), bretzels, moricettes and even their schnaps which is really strong alcohol. Another aspect that makes them unique as I mentioned before is that they are situated on the german border, but also the swiss one and it is very easy to go to each of these countries. I could give you more information if you want :)

This was great stuff, but you speak too quickly for foreigners to understand. Could you publish the transcript of what you say, perhaps? That would be wonderful.
