Listen, I hate to be that guy, but it's spelled "capybara," first off. Second off, don't get capybaras. Sure, they share many friendly traits, but they're still wild animals. Capybaras shouldn't be a pet, and they should only be captive if they're permanently injured, or they were bred in a research facility. Capybaras are currently listed as "Least Concern" on the IUCN Red List, but the species could become near threatened or worse in the future if you keep on getting them as pets or such. They're being threatened by poaching, forest fires, and timber (cutting down trees.) and of course, the pet trade. There popularity has skyrocketed the past few months, which isn't exactly good for the species. Again, I've known about this species for over 10 years, and I don't make a big fuss about them. I have been studying the Amazon Rainforest (the rainforest is where the can be found) for 6 years, and I can say that their populations are DEFINTELY not doing as well as it was 6 - 10 years ago.
