I live in Almaty for 15 years and I love this city. IMO, Almaty - is the best place in Kazakhstan. In south area air is more clean (near mountains) and the city has a lot of trees, generally. Air pollutions are a problem of all big cities. Almaty is really good for walking - here is a lot of roads for walkers and bicycles, sitting places, crosswalks, traffic lights with counters. Prices for all are cheaper in the northern area (from Tashkentskaya Street and to the nord). The most expensive is the square between streets Lenina - Al-Farabi - Saina - Tole bi. Outside it- any things are cheaper (from a rent to street food). I lived in several cities (big and small) and I can compare it. Sorry for my bad English, it's not my own language.

Thanks for teaching us about Almaty. I really want to visit once my retirement is started. Looks like a fun place like my hometown of Albuquerque New Mexico in the USA. Hope you’re enjoying New York. You should have taken Meruert with you. I enjoy seeing you two. Hugs from Las Vegas ❤️🥰😍🙏
After living in Vietnam for a few months, none of this really bothers me. But thanks for sharing. Looking forward to my trip!
very good your honesty thank you 😋
Your video is useful for me. I’m going to Almalty tomorrow. Thanks a lot
I’ve never been there but now I’ll plan to visit Almaty and Kasachstan. Very good video again!
I visited Almaty in March for 10 days, by myself and I loved it. Although I don't speak any Kazakh or Russian, I want to go back.

Hello! Do people not speak English in Almaty?....
Long time no see!
I work with 2 kazakh guys in Hungary. One of them speaks English. He told a lot of things about his country, so I was curious. I wish I could visit once but it is very far and very expensive to travel there. Anyway thanks for the video.

I was surprised with the pollution issue but you explained it brilliantly with pollution from coal-fired power plants and vehicles trapped within the valley that's Almaty surrounded by mountains. Btw is there a security issue - are the streets safe for foreign tourists? Do we need to worry about getting pick-pocketed? Also are western credit cards like Visa widely accepted or its still pretty much a cash-based economy. Sorry too many questions :)
*Hey,.. pollution and allergies? Just like home! Ohio Valley USA! Wondered about that.* Driving sounds like Atlanta, haha! And don't use taxi anyway! Have wanted to visit Almaty for quite a while now. *Still do,.. but,.. the entire world has become very unstable!!* Would only want to visit the city aspect of Almaty partially. There is so much there to experience in the surrounding area too! So,.. yeah,.. if ever I get to visit I would want to soak it all in!! In general,.. Almaty, Kazakhstan seems to be a very wonderful place!! Even though the politics to the north is not to my liking that isn't the people there or in Kazakhstan! Politics,.. 😝 Almaty is wonderful and so is the people of Kazakhstan! Rich heritage, culture and versatile dynamics!
I went there...trust me the bus system is so reliable you can go anywhere just by using the bus! They may have only one line metro but if the bus system is so frequent and reliable it is just a small matter. The driver is also polite to pedestrian you dont even need traffic light, they will stop to allow pedestrian to cross. this is far better than in kuala lumpur where I am residing.
Hey Salta, I am planning on moving to Astana for work, with my family. My wife wears a headscarf - do you think this would be a problem in malls and public spaces? she read some information about it being banned - is this true?

Almaty especial city, unusual. It hard to explain, you need a watch. I love summer nights in Almaty.
Just moved here, so far so good
The smog pollution is evident everywhere in Kazakhstan (small town or big city), mainly due to the poor quality of the gasoline, making the catalytic converter obsolete (even on new cars). There are definitely challenges to living in and visiting Almaty, but it’s a city you must visit (amongst all others, and regardless of season) if you are coming to Kazakhstan.

Tbh it's honestly easy to adjust being from India in a smaller city like Almaty
I have watched many of your videos because of the war in Ukraine. I am attempting to educate myself about the countries of the former Soviet Union. One month ago I knew almost nothing about Kazakhastan - maybe nothing. None of my friends have heard about your country. I guess we are something of an ignorance lot. This is the first video of yours I found somewhat depressing. You previous videos and your comportment were quite uplifting. They made me want to visit your country. The smog is a definite problem. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and your apartment here would be about $3,000/month. Once, I lived in the Philippines and your driving I believe is quite civilized. I'll stop now because I don't want you to feel badly about my words. I have enjoyed all of your videos and they are educational.

What about nite life. when v compare with Dubai or Thailand
The funny thing is the building steps are stopping us from living in a country .
I have lived in Almaty 2 months now and have experienced two earthquakes
The point about not being accessible for the disabled, elderly, etc is a pretty typical thing across Asia or even most of the world outside of North America and maybe Japan, so I would hardly consider that as a strike against Almaty.
Don't tell this. I'm planning to make a trip there in August!!!
I hear Daneliya Tuleshova will give you a personal tour of Almaty mall. I'm going to Almaty just for that.

Pollution, riots, high property prices, earthquakes, CRAZY driving habits... wait I thought we're talking about Kazakhstan and not my place 🤔 (managed to rank #1 in the world for some of those items over the years so I think your city will be too beautiful regardless!)
It’s polluted as bad as in Santiago, Mexico or in Athens so it’s not that big of a deal.

Not so informative
I met one woman from Kazakhstan and the experience wasn't too good.. First she approached me quite aggressively online, like no shyness, no soft relaxed approach.. Just straight up like "here I am!" as a Finnish person I'm not used to something like that. After that super private about her life, she used some rune fonts so people couldn't figure out her name.. 😂 Just shady asf. Also she lied to me about a guy like "oh I'm not interested" but I can see that she's constantly bombing him with likes and stuff like that on social media.. It's all so contradictory and bizarre.
