Video Description: 5 big reasons moissanite is the best diamond alternative: Hardness, Price, Color, Availability, Lab-Grown. Moissanite is the best diamond alternative due to it being nearly as hard as a diamond, coming in at 9.25 out of 10 on the scale of mineral hardness. When it comes to price, moissanite is also a fraction of the cost of a diamond. Back in the day moissanites used to have a more yellowish tint or be near colorless, today you can order them in colorless options. Another huge advantage to moissanite is that they are available in many different sizes and carat options. Last but not least, the fact that it is a lab-grown stone makes it ideal for those looking for an engagement ring option that is guaranteed conflict-free.

My moissanite engagement ring custom designed by my husband and Jordan is stunning. Modern Goldsmith made my ultimate ring dream a reality. ❤ I love that I can wear it and no one *ever* knows it's not a diamond, we didn't overspend on a stone, AND I didn't have to contribute to the exploitation that occurs frequently to wear a naturally occurring diamond.

Yes!! Diamond is my birthstone, but I hate the conflict that has come with mining diamonds and I think they are over-used. I prefer different stones and I use diamond alternatives when I want a stome like that. My FAVORITE is morganite though. I love it so much.

@@jlo1423 Do you work for a diamond company or something? Why are you commenting on every comment? Moissanite isn't a fake diamond, it's just a different gemstone that happens to have similar properties. Lots of gemstones share similarities. You do realise that diamonds are actually pretty worthless, they aren't rare at all. De beers own the majority of diamond mines in the world, and while there are vast amounts of diamonds in the ground they are careful to release just enough to satisfy the market each year, thereby keeping prices high. If you want to buy an overly priced gemstone that will massively depreciate in value the moment you buy it, go ahead. Personally I'd rather not fund such a corrupt industry, not to mention all the human rights violations.

Having a conflict-free stone was one of the most important things to me in an engagement ring. You can't do anything about how antique jewelry was created, but you absolutely can control how you produce/obtain your jewelry today, and I personally never wanted to wear a daily, lifelong reminder of a business that would potentially create my ring amid a violation of human rights. My engagement ring stone is an asscher cut, lab-grown moissanite, and I appreciate every time I take a long, close look at my ring that my fiance gifted me a ring that was produced ethically, and that we share this value.

If my husband and I ever decide to “upgrade” our original wedding rings we will probably go with moissanite. I don’t actually think we would need or want to that though for multiple reasons. I mean, my wedding rings basically never leave my finger. I LIKE having a smaller size stone, thank you very much. I specifically told him that I didn’t want a large stone on a ring that would wear every day. I like that my rings feel like they have become part of my hand. The fit was completely perfect too. His parents gave my husband his mom’s first wedding rings (they “upgraded” rings after 25 years of marriage.). A completely perfect fit from his mother’s ring. I also told my husband that I liked vintage things that had history to them, and that I would be super proud to have an engagement/wedding ring that had family history. He decided right then that I DEFINITELY a “keeper”.

I love mine! Especially how the way it refracts light brings a more rainbow effect! Though I did have an odd experience... after hearing about moissanite from the jeweler we ended up getting the ring custom made from, we went to another just to double check our options. When we asked this one (a national chain) about using moissanite, they said “we don’t do that because it yellows if left in a hot car”. Like... why would I leave a ring worth so much money in a hot car? Like ever? They recommended white sapphire, which looked so dull compared to what we ended up with. So glad to have my moissanite ring!!!

I have a few Moissanite rings. They are awesome - a much better price than a diamond, and they actually give off more sparkles than diamonds. Some - depending in the cut - have a ‘disco ball’ appearance. I have both a lab-grown diamond and moissanites. The diamond gives off more white sparkles and moissanites give off more rainbow colours.

When my fiance and I were talking engagement rings, I was doing research into different stones. I knew of the ethical issues behind mined diamonds but it is my birthstone and I wanted something very similar to it. Every other video comparing moissanite to diamond said that the latter had more fire -- but I very much agree that moissanite shines rainbows more than diamond!! It was the deciding factor that made me want moissanite: I thought the fire made the stone prettier

  • @Sparkle.Dammit

Exactly my reasoning! And diamond is my birthstone too, lmao! I could get a diamond the same size, but why would I spend more for something that isn't as pretty and probably has some bad vibes and blood in it's history... Of course they won't! In time people will want real diamonds again and the price will sky rocket due to the demand (as minning will stop the prices will go up) you buy fake diamonds (moissanite, CS, glass) then they will be cheap because your buying a cheap stone. Its like gold rings! A plated gold ring tho it looks like gold will never be worth what a REAL solid gold ring is worth! Jewellers will tell you go for moissanite because it cost them pennies and they make hundreds/thousands from silly uneducated people.
