5 Reasons JERSEY Should be Your NEXT Holiday (As featured on BBC The Apprentice!)
As featured in BBC's The Apprentice on 22nd February 2024.
If you live in the UK, holidays have been off for the past year due to the pandemic. On 26th of April 2021 Jersey’s borders opened up again to the UK and Crown Dependencies.
Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands and the most Southerly British Isle. It has golden, sandy beaches, historic buildings and top-class food so here are 5 reasons why you should travel to Jersey for your first trip away:
Jersey is just a stone’s throw away!
Jersey Airport is served by 5 different airlines, which connect to most of the major UK airports. Flight times are short, ranging from around an hour and a half in the north of England, to as little at 50 minutes from Southampton.

If you want to bring your car with you, you can also sail to Jersey from Portsmouth or Poole with Condor Ferries.

Find out the latest travel advice and what actions you need to take to travel to and from Jersey on the Government of Jersey website here: www.gov.je/Health/Coronavirus...
Jersey is full of Fascinating History!
Whether it’s evidence of human activity 250,000 years ago or fortifications constructed using the slave labour of prisoners of war under German occupation, Jersey is full of history waiting for you to discover.
If you have kids with you, they’ll love exploring the hidden rooms, passageways and bunkers or listening to living history characters in Jersey’s heritage sites. Demonstrations of muskets and canons firing in the grounds bring to life the 13th and 16th century castles which stood guard against the French across the water.
Jersey Heritage offer a great value deal to explore their sites with The Heritage Pass which gives you unlimited access to 4 must-see visitor sites for the price of 3.
www.jerseyheritage.org/
There’s so much to do in Jersey!
If you love the great outdoors, you’ll love the island’s walks, watersports, cycling and nature but if all that activity gets a bit much, you can visit one of the many spas or go shopping in the island’s town, St. Helier.
Jersey is the sunniest place in Britain!
If you’re looking for a sunny summer holiday then you don’t have to travel as far as you’d think! In 2020 Jersey clocked up a scorching 2,392 hours of sunlight which is 185 hours more than its closest rival. And what better place to spend those sunny days than on the beach…
Wherever you stay in Jersey, you’ll never be more than 10 minutes from the sea and on its’ 44 miles of coastline, Jersey has a beach for everyone, and are some of the cleanest in Britain too, soft white sand, golden bays and sheltered coves. All of them washed twice a day by one of the world’s largest tides. So no need to hesitate before jumping in to that crystal clear water.
jerseynationalpark.com/
Jersey has Delicious Food!
Jersey is World famous for the dairy and Royal potatoes produced here. The seafood is as fresh-as-it-gets and there’s an abundance of other Jersey grown and made produce. You can enjoy all of this from your choice of Michelin-starred restaurants, pubs, beach cafes, or food trucks spread throughout the island.
Bonus Tip!
If you aren’t bringing your car over, it’s worth noting that taxis can be quite expensive and there’s no Uber in Jersey. As the island is only 9 miles wide by 5 miles high though, it’s easy to get around using public transport. Another great way to get around is on an electric bike, which you can hire easily through the Evie app and you don’t even have to leave it where you picked it up when you’re done!

As a Kid in 1982 I watched Bergerac here on Dutch television, I was always fascinated by how beautiful that Island is, the historical parts, fortress, tiny fishermans villages etc...now 40 years later I'm still very interested in Jersey and I will visit Jersey one day, rent e-bike and drive around the Island, also looking for Bergerac filming locations haha. Cheers from the Netherlands

@@AdventuresinJersey Hi many thanks for your quick reply and for your help 👍
I went to Jersey last month, June 2024, for 5 days during the school holidays, only because the flight was very cheap whereas most flights to the Mediterranean were very pricey. It didn't impress me much, there isn't in my opinion anything unique that should draw people back, everthing is pricier than in the UK, including (and annoyingly) groceries. We had 3 days of rain out of 5. The landscapes and the beaches are very similar to what you would find in, say, Devon or Cornwall, so if you want to go to Jersey to tick it off your bucket list, then do go, otherwise save yourself the hassle and go to the aforementioned Devon/Cornwall. The only really unique features are the local Jersey Pound, the Jersey milk & the Jersey potatoes (both of which are readily available in the UK at a cheaper price) and the island status, i.e. it's a self-governing British Crown Dependency but it's not part of the UK.
Currently on a vacation at the Jersey shore.

It used to be a real magical destination. Gone is the busy airport, many hotels, daytime activities, nightlife, and above all else it's crazily expensive ! Once a tax free haven, its now more expensive than London.
@AdventuresinJersey
10 ай бұрын
Not sure about that. We did a holiday to London at Easter and it was more expensive than Disneyland. There's certainly some things more expensive than UK (taxis for example) however there's such variety in a small space, and you have huge scope for activities that cost nothing at all.

Do you need travel insurance? I know it seems a daft question being British.

Hi David, Jersey is not classed as part of the UK so you would need to take out separate travel insurance when visiting to cover you for any accidents. We also do not have an NHS so it would cover healthcare (except emergency care at the hospital which is free).

You do realise that Dublin is the capital of an independent country right? Why say "all UK airports" and then show a map that includes the Republic of Ireland? I am sorry to tell you, but the UK lost control over that part of Ireland 100 years ago after a war of independence.
