Gooday to all followers I m firm believer in Guan Yin Pusa and Amitabha Buddha... There is one question, since Sakyamuni Buddha spoke of Amitabha's Pure Land to his followers before He attained PariNirvana, why didn't the followers record this important message in the Pali Canon and brought up during The Buddhist Council meetings?

Hello Jiawen! I was wondering about the Lotus Sutra. I am really enjoying the sutra so far and it looks like that sutra mentions Amitabha also. I heard this book is important in many schools of Mahayana Buddhism and I was wondering if there is a history of that sutra in Pure Land too.

Hello yes the Lotus Sutra is certainly also the supreme teaching of the Buddha and the Mahayana. And yes it also mentions Amitabha Buddha and others. One can also study it if one feels strong karmic connection and has the time & energy. In Pure Land School we mainly focus on the 5 Pure Land Sutras and one treatise, this is more than enough. However, in Tiantai School where people study the Lotus Sutra they also practice Nianfo and seek rebirth to the Pure Land. So short answer is yes u can certainly read the Lotus Sutra and study it, but also have time to study Pure Land sutras or/and Nianfo. Hope this helps. Amituofo 🙏

good morning to yoUAchi I just want to yoU why is the Heart Sutra reciete during a burial ceremony?

I just want to ask why mahayana sutra only appear after somewhere around 500 or 500 plus years after siddhatha buddha passed away but not the same time together of theravada buddhism sutra exist when siddhatha buddha just passed away?

Because people weren't ready for higher teachings then. Only when Bodhisattva Nagarjuna came down he has the ability to uphold and spread the higher teachings. Amituofo

Shakyamuni 1st appear with Theravada teaching was specifically for certain tribes with Jainism n Hinduism practice in ancient India region ,why so ? There are 3level of Brahma heavens in the Form realm ,i believe Brahma is associated with Jainism n Hinduism n so their quite high level practice probably triggers Shakyamuni with some higher learnings. But ancient China tribes were not suitable with Theravada teachings bcoz they ve Confucius teachings n Theravada precepts observation are almost the same as Confucius precepts.

Hello. I am interested to get some English literature on Pure Land Buddhism. Mainly some small booklets that explain this Dharma to those who are not Buddhist.
