I'm 30 as of feb and just started riding, no one around to coach or get general help (TN) so you guys and youtube in general has been incredible for the simple passage of knowledge for those of us without much in-person support in that area. You have kept me from so many falls as a new rider it's unreal so thank you guys so much.

Dude, yeah MX Factory is beyond awesome for everything from the basics to some advanced stuff. Im 40. I live in mid TN. Riding for about a decade +/-. Hondas. 250f for the technical stuff. 450rx for faster less treacherous trails. Im just real curious how you dont have friends to ride with that could at least give you the basics? I cant seem to go anywhere around here without running into riders. Esp retired MX guys. Even moreso when i lived in Shelbyville! Where you doing the bulk of your riding at?

🙂 I'm glad im not the only older cat just getting into riding I started at 25/26 I'm 32 now took two years off after a wipe out on my 450r that was a 2month hospital stay 🤦 I had no business being on a 450 for my first bike love my 2019 kx250 way more comfortable on it great all around bike... I'm getting so much better I work for a big farm operation so I got plenty of area to practice... To any older people wanting to get into riding all I can really say is get that 450 out of your mind ASAP ! I paid the price wish id started on a 250 don't be afraid of something slightly smaller even 🤷

These are great tips. I don’t race or get lap times or anything but doing this consistently when you go ride will make you feel much more comfortable and lessen fatigue. I ride out in the hills on some “natural” tracks, trails in the mountains, & occasionally go ride a few of the local mx tracks on practice days and have felt significant improvements. The best benefit is safety. When you get comfortable riding, you can go much faster in a much safer manner. Technique is everything. It’ll reduce arm pump and allow you to manipulate the bike and your body properly in general and especially when things inevitably do get sketchy. 🤙

Helpful. It sounds like what you're saying is work on controlling the bike in non-conventional ways. I'm still building my chops, but the 400 I have seems hard to hold on to sometimes. I'm gonna try these because I feel like there is a lot of forces on my hands and wrists. For instance, I recently had a bad sprain from just trying to recover from a fishtail. Maybe some new bars, grips, and control lever adjustments will help.

I have a few tips that might help some people out. Let me know what you think. The head forward leg high I tilt my foot/big toe in to the front fender as if I'm trying to hang my toes on the top of the fender. A excercise I do is skip rope holding a inflatable ball between your knees while skipping rope. I use a ball used for the game 4square. Surprisingly doing this it puts you in the attack position while skipping. It's easier to hold the ball with your knees. Just my two cents

What's a good way to structure practice for the weekend warrior? I can ride basically only every Saturday and Sunday. If on a ride day I get say 6-8 motos, should 1 moto be dedicated to each of your different drills? (1 moto no clutch, 1 moto no brakes, 1 moto feet on pegs, 1 moto all standing, etc) and then a moto at end of day riding normal?

GO TO Speedway and ask them how to slide a dirtbike .

You don’t want to know. After you’ve bought a bike you’re looking at helmet boots chest protector knee guards pants jersey goggles elbow guards and a neck brace. Price that out.

There's an old saying, half of what you paid for your bike, you're going to pay for gear... I'd say 2,000$ is what it would cost for everything that isn't the bike itself. This includes a fuel jug, ramp, stand, gear bag, gear, and maintenance tools to maintain your bike.

If I really thought about what we spend on MX plus all that goes with tracks and racing I’d never start except WHEN HE GOT HIS FIRST TROPHY....PRICELESS😥😥👌
