I think Fofana lacks the positional discipline needed to sit as the 6. He strikes me as a ball-winning 8 as opposed to a true 6, which is what's needed to partner Mainoo. A lot of Fofana's defensive work is as an aggressor looking to win in the duels as opposed to protecting spaces. I don't want us making the same mistake we made with Fred in trying to force an 8 into the 6 role.

But if we sign him, we will have no one in our midfield who can protect spaces (assuming Casemiro and Amrabat both leave) which is so important to have in midfield especially in the Premier League. It's a big reason why Fred and McTominay weren't a good duo. Whoever we sign, we have to make sure they can be a true 6.

Very good suggestions. Also, if some of them should be too expensive or unavailable, you should make a video of alternative signing options. The likes of Anselmino (CB), Maxence Cauqeret (press resistent DM), Luciano Rodriguez (Forward) and Bradley Lock (LB). All class performing players available at reasonable prices.

The links to Alvarez makes sense as he can fill in at CB as well if needed. We’re no longer getting Todibo so signing him could be really important with our 60 game season coming up.

I'd rather we bought Mats Wieffer from Feyenoord for about the same money as Fofana (transfermarkt). His defensive stats for tackling, blocking, aerials won and interceptions are better. He's a year younger too.

Fair play to your choices over the years. Going back and watching your suggestions in previous years and your strike rate is really good. I also find it funny that the people railing about Branthwaite were probably spouting the same garbage for years when you recommended Declan Rice.

Hi Dave. How about Riccardo Calafiori the Bologna CB?... in my own view, united is not that far. united needs 2 CBs, 1 CDM, and probably a CF if Hugill fails to step up... CF we need to promote Wheatley, LB we need to promote Amas. We also need to promote the left-footed Fletcher twin to learn from Bruno as a 10. We also need to make Amrabat a permanent signing even after buying a CDM. he will be a good option for us in the midfield, plus he has a good attitude (not sulking when not playing), which is what we need at united. for other positions, we should buy as we sell, e.g, if Eriksen goes we buy his replacement... a lot of academy youngsters are worth looking at. whatever we do, we should avoid high pricetag players as they come with unnercessary pressures and become easy targets of the English media and pundits' attacks. and we should avoid giving ridiculous wages as it becomes harder to move on players who fail to make it at united.

It will never not be funny watching United fans every single season discuss how they will be getting these young world class players, only to end up with the likes of Casemiro, Mount, Antony etc.

@deedstaar7520 Our system is Counter Attack using the Pace, Short Passes around the midfield, defense play high and attack fall back during the defense, midfielders hold the Fort while with Shaw and Dalot, they run as an inverted wing back or as an extra Midfielder. Now! With Telles what United wanted is similar to what Jose wanted when he signed Dalot, Lindelof and several other tall players, wing to wing play with high cross, and aerial dominance. Which could've worked, but now with this team, sadly, we are one of the most weak team in aerial game. Ait-Nouri works in attacking form as a Wingback similar to Frimpong, but with United, defense needs to be strong.

Branthwaite new Maguire. Zirkzee new Sancho. We need DeLigt Kimmich Neves Olise Guirassy

Zirkzee is too close in age to Hojland, so one or the other would get frustrated with lack of play time. Someone like Ivan Toney or Guirassy would be ideal to take the starting position to start the season and take the pressure off of Hojland then allow him to develop into the striker Ten Hag wants him to be.

We need atleast 2 mids. Foffana will be cheap and a free transfer like rabiot will help us spend big on defenders.

Quality choices, all would add to this team

Definitely need a centre back Branthwaite is looking to be too expensive unless they can get him at £40-45 million ok, if not walk away. Defensive midfield is a priority Fofana from Monaco would be my choice but Ederson from Atlanta looks useful. Neves from Benfica costs to much at £100million. A right -back to replace AWB would be good but not a priority. Dumfries or Frimpong. The striker Zirkzee looks strong quick and skillful, plus he's young buy him ASAP.

It's completely irrelevant whether these players cost £50million or £70 million. The money is split across a four or five year contract so the accounts will show an annual figure of around £10-£12 million. And these numbers don't take any wage deals into account. It's not a game of Football Manager where you buy players with the click of a mouse

My personal opinion: CB: Diamande( need to sell lindelof) Its shame that we wont be able to get Todibo who is versatile and could be used as an RB as well( then we could have offloaded AWB). RW:I would go for Brahim Diaz and keep Amad and Antony as I dnt think we could sell Antony for a good price(Would need to sell Greenwood and Sancho) Striker: Personally would like Toney but it would be hard to integrate both Hojland and Toney. I would rather go for Guirassy who is good in his link up play and with his experience he could play in Prem and comes in cheap too. CDM: Joao Neves would be great but his price tag is too hefty and other problem is his height because then we would be playing with Neves, Maino and Bruno which would be tough as we might get aerially beaten.Onana would be decent option but his price tag is too high. Additionally i would like to add Vitinha or Rabiot as both of them can play as an 8 or 6 if needed , which will add to squad strength( we could offload Eriksen, VDB, Pellistri and make use of their wage bills).

1) RB - Sugawara . The samurai . Rightback is needed more , because Amass is going to be ready , Malacia is going to be Fit . Shaw is the best LB in the world when he is fit . AWB should be sold . 2) LCB - Greaves . This guy is the real deal . Super season for Hull & pretty similar to Calafiori . 3) RCB - Danso . A monster who has long range passing ability . 4) ST - Zirkzee . He is exceptional , similar to Berbatov . 5) CDM - Gray Archie . Hybrid RB/CDM for Leeds last season . United missed the opportunities with Jude & Wharton but I think Gray & Mainoo will boss the midfield for the next 10 years . 6) RW * - Greenwood . He should stay . The whole situation is a joke . Is he capable of playing for other top teams but not for United ? Anyway , we do not decide as fans but I expect leadership from Ineos . If United sells Greenwood , Matias Soule should be our next right winger . This list should cost under 120m & will make United title contenders .

Branthwaithe isn't happening unless Everton decide 40 million is good enough. Ait Nouri is doubtful as United looks to be lining up Milos Kerkez. Diomande is a solid option. As a six we need a proven single pivot that will play six, not an 8 that can play six. Zirkzee looks like a great choice, bringing something different to Højlund, but it seems he wants Milan as well as something more than a rotational player.

Not knocking Trent here but Wharton should play if long passing is that crucial because while he's nowhere near as good with his range and incisiveness of passing as Trent is, him being a natural midfielder allows him to do much more off the ball and position himself adequately to receive the ball. Also he's a much better tempo setter, probably the best in the squad, and England will definitely look like they know when to make runs when he plays because he'll find both the short options and the long on time. Mainoo is also better at the latter quality than Trent is simply because he's developed better as a midfielder

I really want to know what you think of Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace. I sure everyone would agree he is going to be a great player / already very solid. By how much would Crystal ask for him? I just afraid Chelsea are gonna snatch him quick cause they lost Rice to Arsenal already and since then they never seems to lose their targets.

Definitely 2 centrebacks are needed. The question is will INEOS walk away if asked by Everton to pay the Utd tax? Fofana ticks the midfield box because he can play multiple roles across midfield. Played very well against Arsenal last preseason. Zirkzee can also provide a number of options as you highlighted. The more positions a player can cover the better. We see Pep and Arteta using center backs in the left and right back positions. What do you think about Desire Doue from Lille Statman Dave? Man Utd need to start looking at replacements for Bruno because he will soon be 30 and he needs competition.

Fofana seems more like a dynamic #8 to me, as opposed to a true #6.

We need to sign players like Mikel Merino Zazon. A physical and technical midfielder with good experience so we don’t depend too much on youngsters. We missed the Garcia train. We need to make Shrewd signings like free agents. Rafa silva, Memphis, Rabiot, Tosin were all shrewd free transfers we could have done. That’s 4 players better than current crop.

Signing Diomande & Branthwaite makes no sense. We play a back 4 & Martinez starts LCB. So we'd essentially be spending 60M+ for Branthwaite to be a backup. It's a waste of money. For a backup lcb, we should be getting someone cheaper

I still think Mats Wieffer would be the ideal cdm.

I'd much rather see Branthwaite than Martinez deputizing as LB if needed. Martinez isn't gonna be able to run up and down that flank doing any kinds of overlaps. It would be a huge waste putting him there.

He has much more xpce than Zirkzee, he is the best 9 in France (behind Mbappe of course) for 2 or 3 years now, he has proven his worth and his contract ends next year so he mat be available for 40 mil. He is still very young and speaks english. Serious and hard-working player with humble mentality, i really think we should pay more attention to him

Diddent Ten Hag try Martinez at left back at Ajax. And it did not work. I am not 100% sure he said this but, I do believe that I once read that Ten Hag said that Martinez is not good enough to play left back

@@StatmanDave I know it’s a lot of effort, but maybe Spurs (how do they get into the top 4), Villa (how do they cope in UCL), Leicester (how do they return to the top 8), Newcastle (how to get back to UCL), Chelsea (always interesting with all those moving parts), and what signings should the “relegation threatened” teams make to stay in the PL. City and Liverpool still have good enough squads not to warrant an analysis.

I wouldnt go after Branthwaite because I'd rather be fooled by the potential of non-English players going ahead lol. That being said, I like Diomande as an option. But what do you think about Alan Varela/ Hjulmand as DM options and Evanilson as a striker option (Gyokeres likely to be too expensive)?

He's still only 20 years old. I think get him whilst he's cheap(ish) and let him develop with the rest of the squad - we're not winning the Premier League in the next couple of seasons anyway.

Dave Martinez has played at left back for Manchester United and was bang average compared to the player is it centre back he gets done for pace and as you know only actual fullbacks can play that position with any kind of aplom

Zirkzee- poor man’s Kane. Not a bad option at all.

All but I would prefer Ivan Toney over Zirkzee for the time being, as I feel Ivan can lead the line as a lone striker better. If we acn really clear out all the dross then maybe all 6 may be possible.
