Just saw a reupload of this and came to find and support the originals! This is incredible! Also, as an adult now this song hits different… having an ex is one thing, or hate and anger is another… but apathy and being “somebody that you used to know” is just… sad. Apathy hits harder than hate. Nothing hurts worse than knowing that someone doesn’t even care enough to hate you. Damn.

How on earth can you have so many "lead vocalist" quality vocalists in one band. Amazing. First guy reminds me of my favorite The Eels tracks. The third singer brings back memories of listening to Paramore. Second guy has a so soulful, almost Sting / Police quality. I hope those are complimentary, I love all your voices and this cover so much.

thing is you know, i have never seen anyone but them that does cover songs so flawlessly; never disrespecting the song by trying to stand out too much than the original, yet while also adding their very own unique character and artistry to it. and I'm saying this after years and years of watching so many that does the same covering as them. they're all very talented, yes ofc, but there's something special about this group that separates them from the rest that even if a decade had passed, you'd still remember it.

It happens extremely rarely to me that I keep going back to a page and watch the video over and over and over. But this video does that for me. Everything is perfect: the ensemble, the way they play, the way they sing, the coordination, the fact that they are onto each other but never hit arms or fingers, that they are all wearing black, that they are very respectful of the song, that they are all good looking but they are not estheticizing the performance, that there are no frills or BS to distract from their act. It's SUPERB!

I remember sitting at the table and watching this with my dad when it released. To this day this is all I can think about whenever I here this song on the radio.
Now that I watched it again, I realized Gianni's guitar part is so intricate, I admire him even more for doing that WHILE singing that super high part of Gotye. This song is a beast! Even Gotye and Kimbra had a hard time singing it live!

Most heart felt condolences from my family to the Taylor family , the band , all their families and friends. our family saw WOTE at the YMCA Burlington in Dec 2012...where my son and daughter (aged 10 and 8 at the time) were in the front row on the right hand side looking out from the stage in an old archive photograph on their website. After the show all they talked about ( and again last weekend when the sad news broke on local and national Canadian news) was that they had touched the " Beard Guy" ....so very sad...but my kids will remember that night in Burlington long after I'm gone and the rest of their lives for sure.

+adriall and luma yes it works but for it to sound right the song must be in the right key. I do it all the time. stroke up on the 3 or 4 highest strings. use a pick.

Crazy to think it's been 12 years since this masterpiece took the internet by storm. Like many people it was the first time I had heard WOTE and I've been an avid fan to this day. Incredibly talented group of musicians. RIP Mike 'Beard Guy'
I can't believe this was 12 years ago. It was the first video I saw of WOTE. Never was a fan of the original song (and others that they have covered), but they always put their unique twist to the songs. Unfortunately, even after 12 years, I have never had the opportunity to see them in concert. Very unfortunate considering there are only 3 of the 5 members left from this video.
Almost 10 years later this is still an amazing masterpiece of a cover. Congrats guys !
