5 Of The Greatest EDC Knives Of All Time (2024)

Ойын-сауық

*edit: So S45VN didnt sacrifice much over S35VN and I got that wrong. It has a higher carbon content, and higher Chromium content (2% more, which makes a big difference), So its an improvement on S35VN, has better edge retention, more corrosion resistance, but gives up a tiny bit in the toughness department.
One other downside to consider is that it will be harder to sharpen over S35VN (Higher edge retention usually, but not always, means that it will be harder to sharpen). Although due to the blade geometry of the para 2, it is (in my experience) quite an easy knife to sharpen. No weird blade portions to force you to change angles.

At this point I have to add the Liong Ma Eutektik EFD to that list. 14C28N steel, 3.5” spear blade, thin behind the edge, excellent deep carry clip, fantastic ergos, perfect jimping and G10 texture. It is the smoothest, most solid liner lock I have ever used, virtually drop ship with no movement open or closed. It opens as a front flipper, Susie hole middle finger flick, thumb flick, and slow roll all absolutely perfectly. Comes in multiple colors, stonewashed or blackout blade and they even make all of those for lefties too! All for like $80-85. This is the best budget EDC on the market right now. I can’t believe no one talks about these. I have over 400 knives and this is in my pocket more than I would like to admit.

The Kershaw Bel Air is an excellent EDC folder. The detent on mine is just right. Great slicer and a great price. A new all black version is coming for the same street price of $150. Trumps the Bugout.

I personally love my coldsteel broken skull in cts-xhp, an espada large g10 in cts-xhp. I don’t believe in chasing knife companies marketing. I lived in Daytona beach 3 blocks from the ocean and fished everyday for years. My knives never had a problem. Corrosion is such a non-issue that marketing ran with. More then likely the super steels aren’t heat treated to a Rockwell to make them worth the extra money.

yea i feel that even though its quite new, its the culmination of taking so many great elements from a wide range of edc classics and just putting them together into a well presented package that makes it an instant winner. I guess we can only see how it stands up with time, but there were so many reasons that I put it into this list. Glad you share the sentiments!

I have all the non-China Knives you have there and agree they are all fantastic! If I am reading you right, I think the Quiet Carry Drift may be a wonderful fit for your tastes! Highly recommended if you get the chance!

Sure, if you can get the thing to open smoothly. Mine was so stiff when I first got it. Tried to open it, when it finally gave in, there was enough force behind it that my hand slipped and I accidentally cut my thumb. Hurt and bled like crazy.

Which one is better the kunwu or the Kershaw bel air?

That’s a tough question. I’d say the Bel air because of how many criteria it gets right for a edc knife. Despite that the kunwu may be a better all rounder because it has less of a stabby (but still puncturing enough) tip and a huge slicing path to work with. Also it looks better lol. But yea to give you a straight answer the bel air

5 greatest of all times??? Really? 😂 Our of Para & Bugout, these are just the knives that you like. Bel Air is a very new knife to be called the greatest. And they sell more Iridiums than Airs. Damco is just a decent knife. It had some hype a year ago, but not that much anymore. The third one... I have never even heard about it until this video :) Thanks for the fun video. Nice try ;) Btw. Very nice approach when you have a lot of knives on the table at the same time. It gives a good understanding of different sizes. Keep on going 👍

@@Hamilkar32 Haha hey come one, anyone could choose a bunch of 5 objectively great knives, and you could apply that first same sentence to it. Its just another video in a sea of similar ones, and the phrase greatest of all time is kinda new itself and overused to death nowadays. If you saw something new and enjoyed it (the video) then thats all that matters really. And im not the biggest bugout fan, but the Para 2 absolutely. Its just a title anyway ;) I have to put it like this so that more people will watch. Ill do another one in 6 months and then we will see whats changed in my mind. Thanks for watching anyhow and like i said, its just all a bit of fun. Have a good one
