5) Maine
The Pine Tree State has the second lowest crime rate in the nation, and strong anti-discrimination laws.
If you love all kinds of weather then Maine is for you.
Locals say in the year you get every kind of weather known to man and that instead of 4 seasons, Maine has 10.
The environment is about as good as it gets, and Mainers are healthy people.
Acadia National Park has got everything that a lover of the outdoors could ever need.
The oldest eastern national park has hiking trails, large granite peaks, some of the tallest mountains on the US Atlantic coast.
If you love you're food to be posh, then you won't be disappointed by Maine's Lobster, often said to be the best in the world.
Although it's economy doesn't compare to states like Texas, it is still a beautifully relaxing place to live and is one of the best at caring for seniors.
4) New Hampshire
Yet another New England state ranks high because the quality of life is solid in the Granite State.
The crime rate is very low, the environment is clean, residents are healthy and it's health care is one of the best.
But like some of its neighbors, the state could use some more things to do, but then again if there are too many attractions you do sacrifice it's peaceful atmosphere.
It's economy is also strong, ranked 9th in the US in 2014, so there is money to be made.
Overall New Hampshire has a very good balance, and balance makes for a good quality of life.
3) Minnesota
Residents of the North Star State pride themselves on being nice, which helps explain why this is such a livable state year after year.
Maybe it's the rough winters, maybe it's the renowned Mayo Clinic, but Minnesotans are a hardy bunch as this is one of the healthiest states.
From the cosmopolitan Twin Cities to the rugged North Woods, the state has something for just about everyone.
Overall it ranks highly in pretty much every category such as quality of life, economy, cost of doing business, Infrastructure & education.
It is a good all rounder, and just like New Hampshire it has a very good balance.
While there are states that offer a lot more & you can live much better if you have the money, states with a better balance offer a higher quality of life for the overall population rather than just a select few.
2) Vermont
Sealing New England's dominance in this category, the Green Mountain State reveals the nation's lowest violent crime rate.
Vermonters are again in excellent health, fit and trim, with good healthcare but also it offers some of greatest farmers markets in the U.S.
Know for its excellent beer, cheese, and of course Maple products.
The environment is pristine, and the state is welcoming and inclusive.
No matter where you're from or what you're beliefs are, Vermont offers equality for everyone.
There's no surprise that Vermont has the second best quality of life in the U.S.
1) Hawaii
The Aloha State achieves a near perfect Quality of Life score, with the nation's healthiest population and the cleanest environment.
Of course it's amazing weather & the fact that if you live there you're basically in what most people would consider paradise 365 days a year.
Residents are protected by strong anti-discrimination laws, and you may never run out of things to see and do.
Hawaii is all about just living, it's not the best place to start a tech company, or to make million in any industry, but it is recognized as the best place to live if you just want to live.
Realistically you will most likely already need quite a bit of money to live in Hawaii, as it isn't cheap.
But should you be fortunate enough to afford to live there, you may never want to leave.

I'm from Minnesota and It's definitely a perfect place to live and visit, but if you come from somewhere that's warm like Florida, Arizona, California, etc., I recommend staying away from Minnesota thru the months of December to February as we do have harsh winters and its -20°F outside right now. Come in spring, summer and fall its really beautiful around those times.

I live in New Hampshire, it's a beautiful state. You experience every season to the fullest. But the one thing that is a downside is since there is no taxes on items you buy. There is property tax, that can be over $5,000 a year. But other than that I'm glad I'm from a small, peaceful, beautiful state.

New England does very well thanks to Boston and New York. Boston has over 10,000 colleges/universities, top hospitals and high tech, so Massachusetts and surrounding states benefit from Boston and New York being so close. In fact it provides a lot of stability in the economy so any downturns tend to be less severe insulating ti from the woes felt around the rest of the USA

St. Augustine Florida is in North Florida on the Atlantic Coast. The oldest city in the United States. Water everywhere, Atlantic Ocean and the Intra Coastal Waterway. Huge Oak Trees, not flat. The government is smart. Great restaurants, stores. Well kept roads, vertially no liter. Reasonable prices on homes. Good schools. Great to retire to. No state income tax weather good 9 months of year, hot rest. Lots of pools and oak trees in right locations. I love it.

This list isn't about how Beutiful or Nice said states Are, but about how easy it is to Make a Life for yourself, how strong the Economy is, and how Healthy/Wealthy the citizens are. Minnesota, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine are among the Healthiest, Wealthiest, and Most Employed States in the Country. Poverty There is at an All Time Low, and they're Economies have been Growing at an Exponentially High Rate. Sure the Weather is Bad in the Winter, but if you can actually Make a Life for yourself and your Family, it's one of the Best States to live In. Minnesota ranked 1st in Best State to Raise a Family In, over California, Texas, Florida, New York, and Hawaii

Those states' economies are good, not necessarily due to economic policies (otherwise we would have seen Indiana, Texas, Florida on the list). Those states weren't included because, as you stated, they also looked at poverty levels and those states happen to have a higher poverty level due to the kinds of groups of people who populate much of those states - The kind of people who believe government should take care of them and who grew up generation after generation with a cyclical welfare mentality. It's a different culture in the north. In the south, there's a lot of entitlement mentality imo. I grew up in Appalachia where welfare mentality is everywhere and where a lot of people assume they can't do any better so they never try.

Since when was bad weather a thing? If you move further south on the east coast you get Hurricanes, and if you move pretty much anywhere west you could get a Tornado. Every place on earth is meant to have some form of weather, that's how the cycle of Earth works. I think you'll be fine.

I come from Hawaii, and it is gorgeous. BUT it does have its problems too. It's super expensive, after so many years you can run out of things to do because you live on an island at the end of the day, and it's not cheap flying to the other islands, or US mainland, especially if you live on one of the islands where good jobs are harder to get. And if you move there from somewhere bigger, you can experience "island fever."

How is it nowadys with the migration in USA, and the acceptance of the citizens, concerning foreigners from middle Europe? I'm from Germany, have a master degree in biochemistry and also studied pathological forensics. Are people who work in named science domains paid well? And, if I were to move to the US, I'd like a city/village with a crime rate as low as possible, and also with a good, warm, but not hot, climate. I can't stand either too low, nor too high temperatures. Mostly I'd like something in the range of 15 °C (59 F) up to 30 °C (86 F). I'm alot into nature, with a healthy environment and healthy, clean air, forests, rivers and so on, for recreational and meditative purposes. I also like fishing and hunting. Any suggestions, please? At the moment, number 4 and 2 in this vid seems to do the trick.

wrong. I live in the Philippines major drug problem, corruption, Filipinos are friendly and happy, but they have unhealthy habits like burning rubbish and throwing their garbage everywhere, including in the rivers and lakes.. Yes they love all foreigners because they think we are rich, far from the truth. yes it is dirt cheap to live here if you can handle your neighbors loud ass Karaoke, the smoke from burning garbage, the pollution, the noise and the dangerous reckless drivers.

Idk why Hawaii is on here, I live in Honolulu and let me tell you, the traffic is horrible, our chief and his wife just got arrested alongside alot of officers for being corrupt, homeless is definitely a problem, jobs want people to be 25 with 30yrs of experience for a job, houses are EXPENSIVE we have a area call Hawaii kai and to buy there its almost 700k for a 1-2 bedroom, thief is also bad but locals here do help each other to find out who's the criminal... And on top of that I'm pretty sure we're sinking slowly because our high tides become worse by year

I've lived in Hawai'i. There's a HUGE amount of prejudice there against those who aren't at least part Hawaiian, which makes it a less than desirable place to live. Not to mention the drug problem which makes crime rampant.

You used a photo of Tahiti for the Hawaii state. I know this because I've been to both places and Hawaii doesn't have any over the water bungalows due to rough weather during the hurricane season. And most of Hawaii's beaches are not shallow, they drop off into very deep water within 100 to 300 yards from the shoreline at many of their beautiful beaches. But nice presentation though. Hawaii is quite amazing no matter what Island you reside on.

I've traveled to most all states and I live in Florida and I'm not really complaining about this list. I'd put it like this though 5. Hawaii 4. North Carolina 3. Vermont 2. New Hampshire 1. Maine

  • @andrewmegler4661

I live in Florida, and it's too bad they have to consider the northern part as part of our state! There is at least one of every kind of beach imaginable somewhere on the coast of Florida, and the temperatures from October through early May are fantastic. The best thing about where I live in Florida compared to Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont is that our rainy season AND hot season is condensed into one! Along with that, there are so many things you can see in Florida. MASSIVE cave systems, Beautiful lakes, empty beaches, tourism to keep the economy going, along with thousands of places to go visit ass a resident in central Florida. Finally, in most Florida cities, overpopualtion isn't a problem. The only bad city is Miami, then possibly Jacksonville falls in a distant second. For god's sake, THE ENTIRE STATE OF FLORIDA is less populated than greater New York.

Bella Costell I was born and raised in Maine. I moved to Michigan for 14 years due to poor work opportunities in Maine. Michigan is pretty horrible these days. My wife and I moved to the Texas gulf coast for her health...she has COPD and the salt air and lack of freezing cold winters is good for her. You can't beat Maine in the summertime though....beautiful weather.
