Thank you for mentioning not running or walking your Husky (or really any dog for that matter) on hot as hell asphalt. I once watched a dumb couple at Petsmart yelling at their dog because it would not sit down on boiling hot asphalt in 100 degrees Texas summer weather. They kept yelling at the dog and pushing it's butt down on the boiling pavement. It did not want to sit on it or much less keep its feet still there, yet they kept punishing it. I started to walk over to remind them the dog was not wearing shoes like they were, but they left before I could get there. People really are incredibly dumb sometimes.

Thank you for that episode! I know, I'm watching way late, but it's a timeless one. Most I appreciate you telling people NOT to remove their fur when it's hot. It is just awful how many people have this strange idea that it would help their husky. The risk of sunburn alone is far too great. As far as leaving them alone, well we've been lucky and had a wonderful boy who after about a year behaved perfect once alone. Even the one we have now isn't destructive at all. Thanks for all the awesome videos.

We have 2 males...one we had as a puppy and when he was a year old we got a 2 year old rescue. We walked them like crazy for a week and kept them separated first by cage, then by leash, then on pinch collars. After 3 days no collars, after 6 months, (right now) best friends. No aggression problems- they are brothers...training training training!!

Really depends on the dogs, we have two males and they are so bad to fight. Especially if one goes out and comes back in the house, the other wants to sniff them and they get into it. We had to take our bigger one to the vet with puncture wounds last year cause the smaller one attacked him.

Congrats you got one in a million? These "stereotypes" We're made for a reason. It's based on the majority. They're not gonna go to every single person who owns a dog of this breed and ask if they can "relate"- A MAJORITY of the same sex huskys fight for dominance. A MAJORITY of huskys are incredibly smart and are escape artist. They're independent dogs and do what they want when they want. So I'm sorry your dogs aren't dominate and I'm sorry they're boring but you know congrats I guess

I just want to take the time to say thank you for all your husky advice/training videos. I have a three month old Siberian Husky puppy and I’ve learned so much!! If you could please do more videos on separation anxiety as my puppy cries for every time I step away (bathroom breaks etc) Also, a video on a variety of toys appropriate for puppies. I’ve bought so many and even ones that i get advised to buy and puppy still manages to still try and eat them. It’s become super scary as she ate a foreign body three days ago. Thank god she’s ok 💙 I keep her on a leash and always supervised and if not able to she has her crate. It worries me because In a split second she will eat whatever she can. I love my puppy so much and I’m learning as I go. Lastly, due to her anxiety she’s also not good with strangers which is why I’ve made the decision to take her for puppy classes because I want her to meet more friends and just be the super friendly loving dog she’s with me.

I train my huskies (I have 13 of them) during the winter and even though it won't burn their feet, I avoid running on asphalt as it also scraps along their nails. I've had several cases where I did it a little to much and boom, blood starts coming out from between their little toes.

i can't agree on the fact you have to crate your husky while gone. My husky is never in a crate aldo she is trained to be. she doesn't destroy anything and doesn't make a mess or something like that. Maybe I'm just a lucky acception on the rule but she will do just fine when i leave the home.

At the end of the day he seems to b pretty well adjusted and any bad behavior problems are few and far apart 😍

Mine was in a cage (or crate as you Americans say) most of his early doggy life. He quite liked it, eventually we stopped locking the door to it, and he would go into it automatically, opening it up with his paw and he would even do this strange thing where he flicked his tail and somehow shut the door on himself (he could still piush it back open if he wanted to). He liked it. Eventually we realised having the door was pointless if we never locked the thing, so we took the door off, at that point we had long trusted him to be ok with the house. Took the door off and evntually removed the cage. Did the same with our young cocker spaniel when we got her. Neither dog has any issues being left on their own around the house nowadays. But ye, as pups they enjoyed being in their cage and it was better for them as well.

Do you consider Brittany Spears Sable or Grey and white? I have a Siberian Husky who looks like that, she has that little bit of orange but if you look at Sables, they look like they have way more red than my dog but I’ve been told that she’s a sable

The thick double coat that huskies have actually keep them cool longer than the average coat. When they get hot they will take longer to cool down though

I feel sorry for my sister’s husky. He’s always being left alone in the backyard. Sometimes fed once or just dog food. Not getting much attention. No exercise. Owner is lazy. I sometimes wish the dog just run away and find a better home. 😕

Hey, soon to be husky owner in a few months! As far as running goes do you think Mushers Secret Paw protectant or any good paw protectant would be ok? or would it just be better to run early morning or night?

  • @SixtyFormula

    @SixtyFormula

    5 жыл бұрын

Paw butter doesn't generally protect from hot temperatures on the asphalt. However, if your just running them on normal temperature sidewalks then paw butter would be great for after runs. It prevents their paws from drying out. Congrats on the new husky!

So I will have 2 of them playing with each other. Will it be ok with my big adult husky later when the male pup grows up ?

You can try changing up her kibble, or adding toppers. Toppers are basically like seasoning that you can add on top of dog food. Or you can add some wet dog food to the kibble. Try these methods and let me know if it changes up the program.

I wonder if they've made technological advances in cement and asphalt that keeps them cooler? ... I walk my dog every day -- sometimes in 100-degree heat during the summer -- and this was a huge concern when I first got her. But whether we're walking on the sidewalk or at the park on an asphalt path, I've put my hand down and it's never been so hot I can't hold it there for as long as I wanted. And my dog has never had injuries to her pads.
