    Hi Shelbey. I love your videos. Your makeup looks are sophisticated and easy to replicate. There are a ton of channels that do full-on colour eye looks. So I wondered if you could do a colour series (focusing on eyes really) for green, purple, blue, pink, peach, black, grey, brown etc. where you use the products you love and create a subtle look in these colourways? You may be too busy, but just an idea. xxxx

    Amen with the spf rant. Every one I’ve tried has made me break out, as well as foundations containing spf. If I put any amount on my face I consider that a win because I usually opt out. I am not about to slather tablespoons of spf on my face every 30 minutes.

  • @KaraLey98

    @KaraLey98

    Does anybody REALLY do that -- slather more on every 30 min or even 2 hours? I've had so much skin cancer so I must stay out of the sun completely. The one who started this whole sunscreen push, is A***e. I'm not a subscriber there. Anyway, glad Shelby & some of the rest of you spoke out about the "SPF Abuse" we are subjected to if we dare to come online checking out makeup & techniques for applying.

    I really appreciate that you’re not doing hauls and using so many products. I’m truly inspired to be very selective with the products I do decide to try. It can still be fun to try new things and I’m more likely to pick things that have a higher likelihood to work for me. Eczema and dermatitis is so tricky. For me personally, I have actually found that the so-called gentle and non-irritating mineral sunscreens are exactly what causes irritation for me. I tolerate chemical sunscreen so much better. Zinc can actually trap oils and heat against the skin, it’s also non soluble, rather dispersable, so the friction of the dispersed powder and trying to even out the whiteness is enough in itself to start me off irritated. Many well-loved spfs for sensitive skin such as elta MD, Cotz, and Paulas choice have actually caused a burning sensation with intense redness everywhere I apply. My skin ends up red, swollen feeling, and itchy all together! I use Altruist spf 30 and 50, and the new Eucerin Age Defense for face and Hyaluronic. All chemical spfs. Don’t you just love product inconsistencies!?😆 so strange. Who knows!

Totally agree with you on the RMS eye polish - it's not good for much; crease-city. I see your point on the eyesights, but had good luck with it over a primer. Funny you mention having gotten too dark of a shade in that CT. I'd been really wanting to try it & figured I'd be 3N. But in the store the girl convinced me I needed 5N!? It wasn't horrible, but wasn't right either. I later tried the 3N and it was much better. I thought I really liked it at first but after trying a few others it dropped off my list. My test to see how much I like a foundation consists of 2 things: It needs to "feel" like I'm not wearing foundation, and secondly I like one I don't necessarily need to set. Now that I'm older, I'm normal-dry so while I like powders, I don't want to have to really go in hard to make the skin look right.

I'm not sure about you, but typically chemical spfs (like avebenzone) irritate my skin, but physical spfs (like zinc) don't--but they often leave a white-cast.. Highly recommend, and it comes in a smaller trial size, as well as a larger. I've also heard really good things about Mychelle's Sun Shiels Liquid Drops (it's a fave of Angie on Hot and Flashy) Thanks for the video--just the right length/number of products!

    Kroger makes a dupe of the supergoop dry oil sunscreen that might be worth a try. I never wore sunscreen unless I was at the pool or beach because it felt too heavy and gross, but I finally found one that I love to wear daily and it is the DRMTLGY tinted moisturizer and the regular untinted sunscreen. That is crazy about the 4N. I agree, the glow! 😳 Emphasized my pores and texture, then had the nerve to separate on my chin and cling to dry patches after only 4 hours. I have combo skin. I went to repurchase her light wonder and it’s gone in the light-med shades. Not just sold out… GONE. 😩 What a mistake. Hi Shelbey, I have a lot of trouble with sunscreens because of my lupus, terrible flareup at moment. Recently had luck with 2 Australian brands. One is Hamilton, the face one, spf 50+ broad spectrum light tint. It has a lovely dewy finish. Feels like nothing on my skin. Hands down my favourite ever. It's in a 75g beige coloured tube. The other one is the cancer council light tinted spf 50+ matte finish, perfect for hot sweaty days. Again feels like nothing on my skin. Not sure if you can get Australian brands overseas. That maybelline mascara was awful on me too. It went on great and looked gorgeous. Unfortunately a short while later it smeared down below my lower lash line (despite me only wearing it on the top lashes) and ended up looking like Frankenstein’s bride. Currently the benefit magnetic one, the honest beauty and maybelline color sensational waterproof one are my holy grails. I’d love to know your thoughts on the newest Lancôme concealer, the teint idole ultra wear all over concealer. For sunscreen, my hyper sensitive and eczema prone eyes find the Paula’s Choice youth extending daily hydrating fluid with spf 50 is the only one that it can tolerate without stinging either the eye or the lids. I’ve found that many spf’s for the face contain SD alcohol (also called denat. alcohol) and that is the ingredient that triggers the painful reaction. As it’s a moisturiser as well as sunscreen it proves cost effective as I’m only buying one product.

    Shelbey CT Review: “Actually, I don’t have a name for it”. 😕 How about a co-star foundation category? 😉 On another note, I so love and appreciate your candor and you are my go-to before I purchase ANY product for years. As much as I love the looks of CT products, I still can’t decide what to purchase as an “every day option” (most of which I try to find a suitable dupe for) aside from the pillow talk lip liner. I believe I recall you talking about Oyster Pearl eyes to mesmerize cream shadow years ago. Thoughts? Does it dry down too quickly similar to the RMS? It’s in my Sephora cart right now along with Colour Chameleon eyeshadow pencil in Dark Pearl. Any recommendations as to what would be best? I would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks for all you do! You are the best!

    I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems that like skin types, lashes have their own types! Some mascaras work excellently for one person or even a majority, but are a total dud for others. I have more sparse and fine - hair lashes so mascaras just can’t be wet formulas. That eliminates just about every Maybelline mascara! Loreal Age Perfect and their new Baum mascara work really well for me! And not too much lash curling. That’s A great way to lose lashes and make any mascara a fail on my lashes.

    Does the supergoop spf have the typical sunscreen smell? Because the lingering sunscreen smell is what usually breaks it for me when it comes to daily spf wear.

    Sorry to ask you such a random question but I was wondering if you would help. Am I right in thinking you have the Lisa Eldridge foundation in shade 7? It’s just that I’d really like to get Giorgio Armani’s luminous silk concealer and wondered which shade is the closest to that foundation. Thanks! xXx

    I have that CT foundation in shade 2 as well and I find that it's nothing special. It's not worth the price tag. I find myself reaching for the Maybelline 4-in-one over it, which If you haven't tried you may like. It's a cream to powder product so minimal need to touch up through the day 🙂

    The sunscreen police do my head in! I feel fine with the fact that most of the products I used have spf, and don't feel I need to be ashamed or maligned for not using a separate one.I don't sit in the sun unless I'm wearing a hat and sitting under an umbrella - but that's it. I do wear sunscreen on my body - but I don't use a separate one for my face.

    Since I have had 2 pre cancer spots , one was on my face so I wear sunscreen each and everyday after my contacts are in. I hope that never happens to you but be aware a hat may not be enough.

    Yeah, Super Goop sucks. They were very condescending to me in an email exchange and I didn't even like their products very much in the first place, so there was no love lost there. I love the Kinship sunscreen.

    The SPF obsession is so sickening to me. Omg...Im tired of people saying that we must apply half a bucket ...bla bla blaaaaa...no that's just weird..I don't care who says what,I don't care if a dermatologist says it's a must...I DON'T CARE...it's not realistic. I apply enough to cover my face & that's it & I hate all SPF...hate them with passion....but I do it cause I use BHA & tretinoin... So bottom line,do what u think is the right thing for u & stop listening to anyone🤗
