In this video you'll find out 5 Most Expensive Space Missions Failures the world has ever witnessed, in terms of both the lives-lost and the money spent. Here is the list of top five most costly spaceflight mission failures:
1) Space Shuttle Columbia - $13 Billion
Space Shuttle Columbia was the first space-rated orbiter in NASA's Space Shuttle fleet. It launched for the first time on mission STS-1 on April 12, 1981, the first flight of the Space Shuttle program. Serving for over 22 years.
2) Space Shuttle Challenger - $5.5 Billion
Rockwell International was contracted by Nasa to convert STA-099 to a space-rated orbiter: Challenger. Challenger was the second orbiter of NASA's space shuttle program to be put into service, after Columbia.
3) Mars Climate Orbiter - $327.60 Million
Mars Climate Orbiter was a robotic space probe manufactured by Lockheed and launched by NASA’s JPL. MCO was launched in 1998, to study climate, atmosphere and surface changes on Mars.
4) Fobos-Grunt - $163 Million
Fobos-Grunt was a Russian spacecraft developted by Lavochkin. It intended to obtain a soil sample from the Mars moon Phobos and return it to Earth.
5) Mars Polar Lander - $154 Million
Mars Polar Lander was a robotic spacecraftlander launched by NASA to study the soil and climate of Planum Australe, a region near the south pole on Mars

There is always a risk associated with the quest for space travel. Those willing to take those risks accept the possibilities of the ultimate failure. From those failures come better and safer vehicles, making successive voyages less risky. As long as humans are willing to accept these risks on a voluntary basis, I'd say it is worth continuing making progress in space launches, especially now that private industry is footing most of the expenses previously born by taxpayers. Few people realize the values gained in our everyday lives as a result of continuing advancements in space technology. Satellite TV and communications, digital cameras, flat screen TVs and smart phones are but a few of the many luxuries we all have today as a direct result of the need to miniaturize electronics for use in space. Additionally, experiments aboard the International Space Station bring us improvements in medical technology here on earth. This is all in addition to the vast knowledge gained of the stars, our Sun, the planets of our solar system and their moons. If humans played it safe and never accepted risks, sailing ships would have never made the journey to what is now America. Most of us would have been born and lived overseas in the lands of our ancestors, while many others of us might have never been born at all.

This list is wrong, he left out the launch of a Titan IV rocket carrying a $1 billion dollar spacecraft. The failure was something like $1.3 billion dollars when you include the price of the rocket itself.

Do you know that a asteroid could show up on NASA’s radar tomorrow and be predicted to hit earth in there years which is a actual possibility and yet we have nothing to do to stop it, and most diseases in the modern day have been cured in the ISS due to zero gravity. So space exploration could save the planet and the people who live here.
