Reminds me of that line from Gulliver's Travels about diamonds, "primitive creatures are attracted to shiny objects."

They are quite beautiful to look at, but I always find the money people will pay for these gems obscene, especially when those who usually mine them work in dreadful conditions and get paid peanuts. How about raffling them off? The proceeds goes to those who are in need... Can't see that ever happening though.

What always bums me out is that the hard working miner who finds it, never gets paid anywhere near the sold price of this sale. They're lucky to get chump change for their effort. I love minerals, the diamond world tho drives me nuts. I'd much rather have a collection of a variety of diverse minerals. Also I love rough or barely worked on minerals more then polished and cut gems.

So what was with the picture for this vid, of someone kneeling before a big, green rock? That's one thing I don't like about this channel -- you show things that aren't related to what you're talking about. Case in point: the guy on the phone, like he'd just won the bid for a diamond when we know that's not what it was. Stop showing things that are irrelevant to what you're talking about.

The picture is of a massive gemstone (jade) that was discovered. I feel it is a great photo to illustrate what the video is about. We try hard to show things that are relevant to what we are talking about. Our goal is to create good, interesting videos, not to disappoint! Sometimes our options for footage or pictures are limited, in which case we try to find the next best thing. I suppose sometimes we miss that mark. We will keep trying to get better as we continue, thanks for the constructive criticism!
