I'm in Australia in Far North Queensland, my beardie loves the rain, I take him out in the garden, and he plays in puddles. He's toilet trained, and he won't poop in his enclosure. 😊

@Anita Crans How Funny 😅 I also have trained all my Beardies through the years to go Potty in the Bathroom Sink, for they refuse to go in their Terrarium, they don't like to poop where they eat and live in. Once the Beardie wakes up, they like to heat up first, and then they'll come down and go to the cooler side and look at me, saying it's time to go Poopy 😂 I've had 4 Beardies through the years. This is my 4th Beardie I got back in July 2019. 👍🏼😊😉

Well uh my beardie is like really really weird. He blows bubbles. But no respiratory infection or mouth rot. The vet checked him out and said it’s just his thing. He eats fine, sleeps fine, has lots of energy, perfectly healthy. He just blows bubbles. It’s hilarious. Also for whatever reason, he hates my toaster oven. He legitimately just hates random objects, but mainly the toaster oven…… so ya….

I didn't follow the no handling rule as a baby, did more if Kevin f om NERDs method of socializing and she is the sweetest thing ever! Everyone that meets her, even if scared ir intimidated at first ends up loving her. Seeing the difference between your older dragons versus blue has helped me understand the difference between individuals in the reptile world. Thank you for all your vids! Inspirational and educational. It kinda feels like everyone has moved away from the bearded dragons and so its hard to find good care guide info for them.

For the one eye open and one eye closed behavior; for my 2 bearded dragons, they usually do it as a sign of annoyance. Usually when I’m feeding them and then they get to a point where they’re full or just don’t want me messing with them anymore. 😂 along with food, my older dragon will sometimes shake his head when I’m offering food that he doesn’t want.

  • @MikiDawn577

One of my Dragons does that as well, she'll close her eyes and shake her head if she is not wanting anymore food to given to her in that moment. It was much worse when we fist got her as she just refused to eat while getting used to us, now it's a way to tell us that the rest of the food can go into her dish.

I have one mean as hell he will even jump to bite if you reach in to feed him.ate first I thought he wasn't getting enough to eat but he eating roughly 30 crickets, salad, 4 dandelion flowers and 5 or 6 leaves. This all split up throughout the day. He probably 7 to 8 months old. You can't hold him at all unless you get a towel over him. I switch out salad with fruits and veggies every other day My female are loveable I didn't do anything different. Lot of holding spending time

Out of the two beardies that my family currently has, the older of the two sleeps on her hammock mostly or in her hide. The younger one will sleep on the fake climb branch, in her food dish, curled up in her hide or laying on the hammock with her arms by her sides.

Do they have to have crickets? I usually stick to dubia and other prey items. If I do feed my critters crickets, I count them and then watch the lizards eat. If any are left, I take em out. I also dust them generously with calcium and that I think would take care of any I may have missed. Kinda OCD about crickets

Dark absorbs light so my theory on them darkening outside is to absorb as much uv rays as possible. My male hypo citrus turns almost black when i take him outside while holding him so he's definitely warm and no reason to be scared. Blue is just a psycho that's all there is about him. Lol

@AaLynn O'Dell You're correct. I've had Beardies since the early 90s and read everything and also later on found a Reptile Club that was great until we moved from Staten Island to Florida in 2021 😢 So, as you can tell, when they are cold in their tank, they will go to their Basking site, but when you bring them outside, they especially turn dark cause they want that natural UV. Also, if you find that they are basking on high temperature for a long period of time, it means they're not feeling well, and this will help what's causing it. It just might be that your Beardie didn't digest right, the season has changed, and they can get also get a respiratory infection. However, if your Beardie does this for more than two days, then I would bring it to the veterinarian. This is my 4th Beardie, and when he first wakes up, he likes it at 100 degrees, but otherwise, he likes it at 90 degrees. He is weird 😂 he likes to be on the cool side. I have a double dome for the heat bulbs and each dome only handles 100 watts each, so I shut off one of the bulbs to keep it at 90 but if I see him getting dark then I turn the other bulb back on. I also have a 75 watt and a 50 watt to change out that 100-watt bulb that is further from him. I always have the 100-watt closest to him. When I lived in NYC, I had my Veterinarian who decided to get away from the Veterinary Hospital, and him and another Vet started a Mobile Veterinary Service, but it was mainly for Reptiles and Amphibians. He had a very nice set-up, everything he needed. He also came up and checked up on my heating, UVA/UVB Fluorescent Strip, and his set-up. How much Calcium D3 and Multivitamin, etc. and told me I was the first person that he came across and knew what to do. I was very happy to hear cause I was always worried if I was doing it right and if there was something else I could do 😊 PS I also have a heat mat underneath the tank but I put two soft thin hand towels and fold them and a have the Extra Huge Log that he goes underneath to bed automatically (as I have timers) and I put a thick hand towel on top of him, and also where the open space of the screen is, because at night I get very hot and I freeze out my Hubby, but where my Beardie is I closed the Central Air vent, but it still gets cold but not freezing. I also put a hand towel where the screen has space on top to keep the cold air out, but don't put it next to the heat bulbs. Also, I have to be careful when bringing him outside for the humidity can cause rot tail. He's had it once before in NYC because we moved from Brooklyn to my Husband's Sister in Law & Brother's house in Staten Island, and there was no attic and the Sun beat right at the Livingroom windows and the Central Air did not produce enough cool air, and because he wants to be cool all the time basically instead of normal Beardie Temperatures he wounded up getting Rot Tail, and if it's not treated they will die. I got a dehumidifier, and now that we're in Florida, I got 3 big dehumidifiers. Anyway, I take him out at 7am till about 8:30am to 9:00am depending on the humidity, put him on his Hammock to heat up more until he comes down and then I put it at 90 degrees and now it's getting worse with the humidity here uck!!! I miss NYC 😢

Man. I thought I was doing better with handling my beardie. He was really cool. Then life happen. I'm pregnant so interaction has not been so much. Moved recently and there is an enclosed patio with nice natural sun and breeze. After the move he had been glass surfing like crazy. I check the temp and he's been on the same feeding schedule. Tried to take him out a week or two ago and he flattened out and was moving too quick so I wasn't sure if he was going to try to bite me. No warning strikes or opening mouth. But I was scared and was like nope. Do you think it's possible to build the comfort level back up once they have lost it? He's a juvenile

I'm at a loss for my girl. She was totally social but I went to the hospital...I was gone a week. Now she wants to bite, attack me. don't touch mode. Breaks my heart this has been going on over 2 years. I don't want to rehome but an adult Beardie bite hurts and draws blood.I've got grand kids I dare not let them hold her, its that bad. Can't seem to get any help or answers for her. IDK Maybe I need to have her euthanized. I cannot rehome her unless someone is willing to accept that risk.

So I sleep with my bearded dragon every night she usually sleeps on my arm but then randomly she starts smacking VICIOUSLY some times she gets some of my hair and then we have another bearded dragon fEMALE she just randomly decides to harass her I think it’s because she wants her cage because they were like friends they whould like cuddle and stuff and then out of nowhere she started being mean every time she sees her her beard gets all black and she starts to puff up and trying to viciously head bob but she can’t because she’s too dainty also she climbs into my hair and then she does the little snuggle thing and then she li just like chills there until I take her out or she goes on top of my head oh and today me and her were taking a shower then she ran over to my foot and then snuggled and I was washing my hair right so I had to move she was SO offended she gave me the most jugey side eye ever it was a straight up stink eye also she likes to be a purse do she only likes one Pacific bag, though even though she’s pudgy, AND FULL GROWN TWO YEARs OLD her tail sticks out and she likes to pop her head out when she’s interested in something or I call her it’s pretty cute oh and we have a little pink couch and we put it by the back door (the back door has two got windows) mostly in the summer she kindly scratches me and flops off the couch and runs over to the couch to sun bathe oh and she won’t eat bananas when they’re chopped up for her in a nice salad every time I have a banana she decides to take a bite out of it so now it’s just a thing now we share bananas And that’s it

Another reason I've heard that a bearded dragon will close an eye is because it doesn't want to do or have you do something that you are doing but it recognizes that it can't stop you. Bearded dragons recognize that you are the bigger dominant creature and that they have no choice but to do endure whatever you're doing to them. It will close the eye facing you so it doesn't have to see what you're doing but also isn't giving eye contact to indicate a challenge. When I see my Stubbs close the eye closest to me, I try to back off from whatever I'm doing, unless I have to do it; giving medicine, for example. Usually she'll reopen her eye and look at me.
