    I know he is probably the most knowledgeable Westerner of Isidore there is and I have his two books on Japanese swordsmanship, but at 3:08, I don’t want my hands or fingers anywhere near the edge of a live blade.

    His demonstration might have been slightly exaggerated when forming the koiguchi. It's still not that dangerous if you do it as shown, and it's definitely less dangerous than others. A dull blade would be a good way to start.

    @@KF1 You work with an iaito for many years before you are allowed to use a shinken.
