    I always adjust the distance based on the ppfd light reading, it's the only way to be sure. As for "Cheap Lights" I've been growing with LED's for the last 5 years, and I did not purchase expensive lights. Picked up 1 Mars-Hydro TS-600 for about $70. It works good with great results. So I bought another, and am now growing under two of them. I have less than $500 into my tent, lights, fans and other equipment, and the harvest are plentiful and potent! I now grow the best quality I've ever grown, and have been growing since the 70's.

    Mars-hydro are very affordable but they are far from being cheap . And they have a good reputation from consumers. I have the Mars-hydro T-2000 and I’m very satisfied with its performance. I’ve noticed there are a few designer lights out there that are way overpriced but I’d rather stay with what is proven to be effective.

    Cannabis is a c3 plant and does not require dark cycles during vegetative stage - it is able to perform all of its metabolic functions under 24 hours of light without any drawbacks. the only reason to give vegging cannabis dark during veg is to save on electricity costs related to lighting/AC, however there is an argument that under 24 hours of light you can shorten the total days of veg required, which leads to an equivalent savings of electricity when switching to 12/12 for flower early. IMO the only reason to go 18/6 for veg and not 24hrs is if you are on tiered electricity pricing and see substantial savings by not having the lights/ac running during peak usage times

    If all you intend to do is start plants for transplanting outdoors you don't need grow lights and can get much cheaper lights without the word "grow" in front of them. 5000K, 5000 lumen works. Don't have other light sources hitting this grow area especially when the lights aren't on. That's it.

    I’ve flowered autoflowers in same tent as photos and there was zero difference maybe she took a few days longer but I was super impressed either way how dank and potent she was. I learned not to play with auto when they are grow. I don’t even LST them just let em grow. I did it to prove to my friend that photos can grow just as fast and give you bigger yields and u can clone. So I vegged the tent with 2 auto 2 photos. I flipped the tent when the autos started to flower So it was a 26 day veg and my photos were 2 x as big but I was impressed with the potency of the auto flowers they were super frosty 84 days for the autos and 95 days from seed to harvest was photos so I truly believe newbies should learn on photos and not autos, there will be more upset people than happy

    Great video. Especially for new LED growers. Finding the right height was the one that I messed with longer than I would have liked when I first started using LED. Manufacturers recommendations and ePar readings are all well and good, but in real world use it's the plants themselves who decide. I find the Manufacturers recommendation on height is always so far off that I have no idea how they get their number. I start with ePar readings and adjust from there. I normally end up in the 16-18 inch range all through seedling and veg stages. I sit at 25% for seedlings and 50% for veg.

    Leaf surface temperatures is a problem with led lights. How energy efficient are they if you heat your grow space to 85 to get a leaf temp of 75? Most people are not thinking about leaf surface temps and VPD. Black Dog LED and Kind LED recommend ambient room temp of 85 but Spider Farm recommends room temp of 75. I’m not sure how well known this problem is. Hopefully this will be debunked or they’ll start designing led lights that can heat the leaf surface better

    Can a light cause appliances to short out? I just purchased an Evo 6 recently. I fear it, &or my space heater, are the cause of the fridge shorting out. The appliance is fairly new (few years old), the grow light purchased black Friday installed a couple weeks ago. This issue didn't happen when I was using a lower wattage light(120w maximum) at full power & space heater simultaneous. The Evo hasn't been higher than 3 on the dial. So I figured it comparable wattage to the older light. The fridge will still sort with only the light(as well).

    you are very right, the biggest factor missing in LED in my eyes is the infrared heat. If you compare HPS and LED side by side, plants under HPS look slightly bigger and the internodium is slightly longer. I have seen top LED lights in perfect environment not producing more per watt than HPS. Big industrial growers still use HPS why should they if LED is better? For me the only good argument is if you have a heat problem and you're enclosure gets above 28°C (82,4°F).

    I recommend any fixture using only Samsung lm301h EVO diodes 3500°K is the best yielders! 6x6 = 36 x 30w = 1080w...18 x 60w QB's = 1400/1500$ delivery included! Maybe you live in a very cold area that's why you still want to use this old tech who produces more heat than light intensity... I started indoor in 2005 with T5 or T9 can't remember then I tried 250w hps 400w 600w mh fluo almost everything except convection (like a round fluo half white half blue/purple)...and in 2014 I made thanks to the DIY led community on rollitup my first Cree cobs cxb3590 CD @1400mA fixture that still works well I made more for me and some friends then I switched to the first iteration of the QB's then the one with lm301b now I have some lm301h and I plan on building a 10x10 with Samsung lm301h EVO 60w QB's 3500°K nothing else...I keep notes of every run I make since 2007 so I know when I increase my dry weight since everything else is the same when I change 1 thing in my grow I will be able to notice...at the end of my hps period I was able to pull 0,7/0,8gp (no a/c no co2 organic since 2013 and living soil since 2016!)when I switched to led first run quick veg I pulled 1,3gpw and after 1,4gpw on average the next fixture brought me to 1,5gpw next 1,6gpw and actually I pull 1,7/1,8gpw on average...I want to be able to pull 2gpw on average when I will get the new EVO diodes...I heard people are pulling almost 3gpw 2,7 exactly with those diodes a/c co2 the right clones coco coir and heavy feeding...when I started outdoor in 1997 1gpw indoor was an urban legend even early 2000 and now newbies are able to do it first grow with LEDs... And you will have to change bulbs every year or 1.5 year same with the reflector 3 or 4 years max with this heat...when underpowered LEDs last 10+ years...I will use those 60w QB's at 30w...yes I will have 100 panels in the 10x10😊 Have a lifted one and lots of good vibes from France growers family

  • @23lnp

    @23lnp

    5 ай бұрын

    Yes mate they are a very good brand, possibly the best. Ive got the lumatek zeus pro 600w 2.7, its an animal of a light ! I would be very careful with the intenstity of these lights though. Ive also found that hanging height should be almost double what the manufacturer states. Start it off using only 25% power and hang at about 100 - 120cm from seedlings. As the seedlings get bigger over a week or 2, lower the lights down to about 60 - 50cm still at 25% power. Keep the lights at about 50 - 40cm hanging height at 25% power for atleast another couple of weeks of veg, until they get bigger. Then you can bump the power up to 50% but start hanging the light from about 80cm above canopy and let the vegging plant grow into the lights but just be very careful and watch out for light bleeching and red streaks on stems from too much light. You will never need to go more than 50% power throughout veg and could probably get away with only using 25% throughout veg but you’d have to drop the lights to about 30 - 40cm from canopy. Im not sure the penetration potential would be that good at 25% though so like i said, after a week or 2 into veg, bump up to 50%. My lights are currently at 70cm in veg and are thriving. I started them at 80cm and they have grown 10cm already into the light. Im keeping a close eye on the plants for any bleeching now. When you are ready to flip to flower, id still keep the lights on 50% but lower the lights to the canopy where its comfortable. At this stage you will probably be hanging them around 60 - 50cm, maybe lower if the plants will take it. Then when the buds form after about 3 - 4 weeks of flower, i bump the lights to 75% power and raise the lights about 80cm from top of canopy to start with. If the plants still look good then lower slightly until you feel they are in their prime. You will only then turn the lights to 100% for the last 2 weeks of flower but be extremely careful as these lights at full power can easily burn the plants. Most importantly, keep the humidity levels at 65 - 70% from seed, all the way up until week 2 of flower, then lower it week by week, 65%, 60%, 55%, 50%, 45%, 40% ( final week of flower ) hope this helps 👍🏼

    $35 Amazon led and $40 4 gorilla cookieFB marketplace seeds produced early a half oz of some of the best buds I've ever smoked all in 6 months and still have 2 plants growing in a tiny 2x3 closet. Using flood and drain over 5 gallon buckets in 10" pots.W/Clay pellets and perlite BTW I spent years using washed decorative lava rock and perlite. Using 600w hps on on non autos Please remind me how much your fancy light cost ?

    @@krisanderson3796well personally I think a half isn't bad from complete startup and I expect even more from the 3 slurricains going right now. Which have about 2 more weeks to go. Along with 6 white widow autos and 4 purple punch seeds I've collected from FB things are looking so greeeaat here. 6 barrina T8s will be delivered today. Oh BTW this is all funded with cigarette money. I haven't bought a pack or smoked a cigarette since 2020

    Bro nobody gives 2 craps about the different specs of color. Just buy a Full spectrum light like nothing else matters. As long as it’s a HLG, King LED, Growers Choice etc that’s all that matters. You do not have to concern yourself with specs of light wt are u talking about. Cannabis grows nobody will say that bud had 3% more red or blue light gtfoh with that. Soon u said that I’m out.

    Led sucks! You are asking water to do vodkas job! Use a 1000 watt hps.. If you want to throw money away, get yourself a quality light meter and see for yourself how much these fixtures are dropping off as they are used daily. Do not listen to people that have been sponsored by the fixture suppliers... and lastly, there are no shade leaves! There are only junk fixtures that can't reach the floor unless they are right down on the plant..

    Hadn't heard of that one yet. A few years back I seen a plasma fixture with great claims. They were selling for 1300. Was too high for me also. Hps fixtures for me until I die. Mostly because I've got so many and good supply of bulbs. At 240 volt the power cost is very important to curb cost throughout the grow. Grow on brother.

    You're not going to win this argument....as LED is more efficient with a much better spectrum. Those are FACTS, not my opinion. I've been growing cannabis for almost 40 years...and I used to use MH AND HPS....but when I switched to LED my yield and potency went way up. Here's another fact....across the board on all strains, LED increases potency 20% on average. LED has surpassed HPS....and you are behind the times now.@@MissionaryForMexico
