5 Minutes of Narragansett Turkeys

Please SUBSCRIBE NOW to keep this channel going. A quick video of our beautiful Narragansett Turkeys grazing on some grass. Enjoy watching one of the oldest turkey breeds in New England. The Narragansett is the breed nearest to the wild turkeys you see here in New England. We keep them as pets but would also make a great dinner too! #narragansett #turkey

Watching this heavily reminded me of my big man who lost the battle over a girl and was getting Bullied for it so we had to give him away. His name was tom... how creative. Edit: those toms and ladies are beautiful
Could you do an in-depth video of how to house and care for turkeys? Can you raise them with chickens?

We’re still new to turkeys but we had one that turned out to be a male after about 6 months it was clear.

After two months, poults show characteristics of sexes. The male is taller, with larger body and feet than the female.
I thought this was going to have information in it. Disappointing.

What kind of info are you looking for?

@@OleYankeeFarm thanks for the reply. I was hoping for information on how long for the poults to reach a table weight. When you can tell the Toms from the hens. Do they make good mothers? Will the Toms attack the poults? Will they go out in the winter? Just more than just 5 minutes of watching them walk around.

@@MM-lp3gc Although I have never raised this particular breed for the table, the consensus seems to be 20-24 weeks. The toms develop their waddles faster and are more forward, the hens make great moms and are very protective of their young. My tom has killed a few of my young chickens when they have gotten loose, so I would probably separate them once they are out of the nest. They do great in the winter. I hope this helps.
