I’ve used the Standard Warm-up for years, but always felt I wasn’t doing enough/the right things when pressed for time, so this 5min routine is a great addition for me

Been doing your 10-minute standard warmup for at least a year, and really dig how it works; nice to know I have this shorter option, need be. And I appreciate your explanation of the "whys" behind the exercises. Adds value to the exercises!

Thanks for sharing. I tried it just now and felt like it helped. I particularly like how it's both a real follow along and that it's simple enough to do anywhere and to internalise. I can see myself doing these things on the start line at my next run, which isn't the case with the more comples routines or those that require equipment.

I was going to ask what a good dynamic warm-up would be in a situation where you can't sit down (i.e. not the standard warm-up), and now you've done it. Thanks!

Hi Jason! Do you have any suggestions for a post run core workout? Maybe a video? :) Or it's okay to do the "standard" core exercises which are recommended for runners?

I suppose you can inform yourself about running in general and work on form, do some 2-3 runs per week with slow pace to get used to running in general and 1-2 sessions of strides/ interval repeats for improving running speed to train yourself for this test... Also do some proper warm up protocol before the test, if possible, so you can give it all you have...

Warmup in running starts with slow running. That is my approach before fast run. Lets say I am going to run 5k at 4min per km pace. I will do 10-12 mins warm jogging at pace 6 mins per km. Then if you want you can stretch for 2 mins )))

  • @JasonFitzgerald

It's more effective to do a dynamic warm-up, then easy running (10-12min is NOT enough... do at least 15 but ideally 20), then drills, then strides. That's the ideal warm up process.

I've seen an old video from back in like 2012. A coach shared a lunge warmup. Do the standard one leg forward lunge 7x then other leg. Do side lunges both sides 7x. And then reverse lunges each side 7x. He also did some weird back ninja one that was hard asf to do.
