5 Minute Play-along Guitar Warm-Up | 2 Easy Daily Guitar Exercises

Do you struggle to find a good warm-up that gets you ready to play guitar? Today's lesson is how to run a 5-minute warm-up, made up of two different exercises. They're both easy and you don't need any knowledge of scales or notes! You just need a guitar and 5 minutes! This concise workout is designed to enhance your finger agility and overall playing efficiency.
I describe exactly how to play the exercises and then at the end of the vide (7:00), we'll play through the exercises together.
Exercise 1 | Chromatic Finger Drill:
Purpose: Develop finger independence and strength.
How: Start on the low E string (6th string) and play each fret sequentially using all four fingers (index, middle, ring, and pinky). Ascend and descend the fretboard smoothly.
Tip: Maintain even pressure on each fret and minimize excess finger movement.
Exercise 2 | Two Finger Drill:
Purpose: Further develop finger independence and strength.
How: Start on the low E string (6th string) and play pairs of notes. Ascend and descend the fretboard smoothly.
Tip: Focus on clean, even notes and use alternate picking.
Always use a metronome!
Purpose: Improve timing and rhythm.
Tip: Focus on synchronization between your picking hand and fretting hand.
Remember, consistency is key! Dedicate just 5 minutes daily to this routine, and you’ll notice significant progress in your guitar playing. Happy practicing!
